    * * * * * Please watch Part 1 for a detailed parts walkthrough. * * * * *
    This video goes through my 2007 2.2L Saturn Ion supercharger build. Begins with how the parts are set-up, modifications needed to be made, then a start-up and idle of the build. Finishes off with some street pulls! Hope this helps those who are interested in doing this build.
    - Engine Bay Walkthrough: 0:18
    - Start-Up and Idle: 4:54
    - Driving/Pulls: 7:46
    Build specs are as follows:
    - ZZP Tuned (HP Tuners unlocked ECM, e-mailed tune file installed)
    - 3.1" pulley in this video (I now have a 2.9" making 16psi)
    - The 3.1" made just shy of 12psi on my build
    - 60# injectors
    - LSJ 2.5 bar TMAP sensor used
    - LSJ alternator bracket and tensioner
    - LSJ idler pulley
    - LSJ stock heat exchanger
    - LSJ IC pump and IC pump bracket under manifold
    - Option B tank (single pass end plate)
    - 5 rib LSJ belt (have to cut 1 rib off for L61 crank, alternator, and AC)
    - LSJ throttle body (6 pin to 8 pin adapter)
    - Custom fabricated Weapon-R CAI (cut-up from a Cobalt SS)
    - K&N cone style filter

    Hey man, thanks for throwing this video up! I appreciate your support for the L61 platform despite the limitations of the tune-ability. Just wanted to say that it's definitely a clean setup and looks really nice. I've got a completely stock 2oo4 Saturn Ion for the daily while I work on my project, my 2oo2 Cavalier. I'm in the early stages on the supercharger build and looking forward to getting it all setup. It looks like you're using a M62 supercharger like mine. I was wondering what you did to mount it on the throttle body? Can't wait to see your dyno sheet!

    • @firehawk97
      @firehawk97  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the positive feedback, been getting lots of good messages and e-mails from people who are also curious to do this build now! I used the stock LSJ throttle body made for the m62 from a Cobalt SS/Ion Redline. For my engine there is a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter that allows that throttle body to be used on my stock harness. My buddy has a supercharged 2003 Cavalier, m62. He used his stock throttle body, there are adapter plates made for your throttle body to adapt it to an m62 blower. He's going to be upgrading his throttle body on his cavalier to an LS1 throttle body, another company makes an adapter plate for that as well lol. Your cable driven mine is electronic so we have to use completely different throttle set-ups. Will let you know how he manages to get the LS1 tbody to work on the blower. For now, you can get away with your stock throttle body with an adapter plate if you want. Look on JBody forums, may be some for sale. L61 to M62 throttle body adapter is what you're looking for

      @randymiracle4958 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      He has the coolant reservoir on the passenger side for the intake/supercharger cooling system. The reservoir is mainly to keep the system bleed of air. I put one on my 06 Ion Redline when I changed the intercooler pump. They don't come with one stock so the system gets air in it and eventually kills the pump. The kit is called "option b".

    Hey man I love your setup! I did the same thing with my 2006 Cobalt LS with the L61 engine just like yours. I went a bit further and installed forged rods and pistons and threw a TVS supercharger on there but yours is so clean! I don't have any under the hood videos up on youtube yet but I do have some videos of pulls, drag race, and some autocross. L61 FTW

    • @firehawk97
      @firehawk97  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would love to go forged internals (Eagle rods, wiseco pistons and rings, and ARP head studs, with upgraded valve springs). Would cost so much though, but I could safely go Harrop or turbo at that point. Will see what happens, likely going to stay this way for a while, upgrade the exhaust and doing some appearance mods this year (lowering springs, bigger rims, redline spoiler, new front bumper lip etc.)

    • @06basecobaltls17

      Vincent Colussi well so far your setup is very clean. I wish I would have moved the IAT sensor to the manifold like you did. I'm tuned without it but I do have a standalone gauge to monitor it. I also went with meth/water injection to run 91 octane with full ignition timing advance.

We supercharged my buddy's 08 G5, 3 years in now and no issues. Just keep RPM limiter stock if you're leaving valve springs stock. After building my motor and going TVS1320 I upped it to 7250RPM. I used the factory ECM. They are unlocked. You HAVE to tune it to make the engine run correctly with the supercharger and new fuel injectors, and throttle body.
      This doesn't make it "aftermarket" it is the same computer but adjusted internally. Make sure you're doing this on a 2007+ GM 2.2L. Don't turn off any MIL's, keep your EVAP and all of that in order.

      This supercharger is for a 2.2 L61, Ecotec engine. If you don't have this engine, you will need to swap into it which can cost somewhere between $500 and $3500 depending on your knowledge / skill level and parts availability. The m62 kit will be an additional $650 to $3,500 depending on parts availability and skill level. So really it depends on YOU. Between $1,150 and $7,000 or so.

      oDieseLz it's not too hard their manual is detailed if you buy their kit. I pieced all my stuff together but have seen their manual it covers most the bases. Pictures torque specs step by step etc.
      Their kit doesn't use the LSJ TMAP sensor like my setup does though. Would recommend doing that since you can get that temperature reading after your supercharger compresses the air by wiring the TMAP temp reading wire to your MAF harness temp reading. I went to my local dealer and got the wire diagrams and pin outs for the sensors, easy to set up just take your time.

Definitely tunable too by ZZP if you get HP Tuners or know someone who has it and can buy the 2 credits to unlock your car for a remote tune. Also it would be awesomely ironic to make an XFE into an SS and make it as fuel-inefficient as possible haha

      I found a better impedance table for the 60# injectors that worked a lot better than the stock table setups. Had to mess with the Short Pulse Adders (PWA tables in HP Tuners) to get the impedance right. Even ZZP got them all wrong and we ended up adding the 60# multipliers and then poof idle was amazing ever since. Send me a DM I can send the excel table. Tuning your ECM will be difficult though as companies like ZZP only support 2007 and up 2.2L tunes (they commonized the ECM with the 2.4L that year). If you can find a tuner first then the supporting mods would be the same on your block (idlers, new belt, grinding that one spot on the block for the LSJ tensioner etc.)

      It's possible in an '04 but there is no pcm tuning ability which means you'd have to use a stand alone fuel system which is both expensive and difficult. His car is an '07 which uses a different PCM that has thning support which makes thing's infinitely easier. It can be done, but you'd be much, much better off selling your car and buying an 07+ or even better just buying a car with an LSJ engine.

      As far as tranny work, none is required. The F23 transmission is rock solid,gugs used to run 700 HP through them all day long. Oddly enough it's a much better transmission than the F35 in the stock superchargered cars which break when you look at them wrong.
