      @chokethewoke746 thats a faulty puc. Mine only goes in the direction I want it to when it's moved fast.
      This was an issue with a lot of older dial type stereos also. It's also an issue on some keyboards with volume dials. When moved quick they go the other way lol.

    Dude this review helped me so much. I previously had the Logitech G560 which I loved, but had to sell due to moving to another country, and I was interested in the buying these in order to integrate with the whole razer ecosystem of Chroma lighting becuase I'm in love with their razer blade laptop, but your review really made me think twice about it. I also watched a review about their Leviathan soundbar but I also concluded that it really is not worth it. I'm considering buying from scratch all my peripherals from logitech including speakers and headphones.

    I've been using the klipsch speakers for 20 years almost and just got a second set, I can turn them all the way up on the pc and there's zero distortion, for around a hundred bucks it's an amazing set for the price. Although I really want one of those volume knobs, maybe I could get one separately. Great video keep it up! 😁

    The Leviathan V2 Pro I bought when it was first launched also had the problem that the subwoofer could not be woken up countless times. Sometimes it could not be solved even after replugging the power supply and reconnecting the computer. This problem will appear almost every few days and drives me crazy cuz without the subwoofer the sound is horrible. Most of the complaints about the old model's subwoofer issue I searched on Google come from Razer’s synapse, but after I tried so many times, I found that it was the connection problem between the 2.5mm audio cable and the soundbar. Every time I need to wipe and twist the 2.5mm cable connecting the subwoofer and the soundbar, The audio interface can successfully wake up the subwoofer. I don't know if the connection method of Nommo V2 or Pro is the same, but the problem with the subwoofer is a common problem. And for a 400+ speaker, this kind of problem is very stupid and excruciating. I will never recommend anyone buy it even though I am a Razer fan.

    You should do a test of the NZXT Relay speakers, they sound great after 50-100 hours burn-in. Cabinets are made of MDF instead of plastic witch gives a much better sound quality, less resonance and lower distortion. I have paired mine with an Audio Pro C-Sub instead the Relay subwoofer because it provides much deeper bass at a smaller footprint.

    Floating Monitor/s work best with sound bars! I wish there were slightly better options for PC users in this way, as I lucked out on a cheap Visio soundbar that matches the width of my Dell 32" gaming monitor. Looks good, sounds good, couldn't ask for more!

  • @valhallasashes4354
    @valhallasashes4354 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I run a dual 16:9 monitor set up in a corner desk environment, so a sound bar isn't really ideal for me. I have considered a sound bar previously, but you just don't get the versatility you get with a 2.1 setup for speaker placement. Right now, my speakers are edge to edge against each side of each monitors extreme, so regardless of whether I'm watching films or videos on one, or gaming on either (PC on left, Switch on right), I get the same audio experience. If I used a sound bar instead, if I was PC gaming on the left, the majority of the sound would be coming from my right, and if I was gaming on the Switch, it would mostly be coming coming from my left. All of the immersion would be lost and because you can't split a sound bar, you can't fix it. So for me, I've found 2.1 speaker systems to be far more useful than a sound bar.
    I guess the downside is my speakers exceed that 60-80cm separation you stated in your video, with mine sitting at about 115cm. But I've never really felt the need to use spatial audio anyway, and usually, I've found them to detract from the audio experience rather than enhance the experience, and even worse, when they do work, tend to be highly situational. Sounding great in one application, then absolutely awful in another. So I just don't bother with them anymore. I just set one balanced audio profile using a custom manual spectrum equalizer setting I tune myself (takes me about a day using multiple sources, movies, games, music etc, with further tweaks over time if necessary), tuned specifically to the speakers I'm using (all speakers are different). Over the years, I've generally found that to be the most reliable method of getting really good sound quality without the need for gimmicky spatial audio/fake surround sound or other such nonsense that often do more harm to the audio experience than help.

You can get away with it for like a bedroom TV setup or something, and maybe even your living room TV, but for a PC you need that separate 2.0 speaker setup if you are going to use it for gaming, or even for immersive movie watching. Everything is close up on a PC, and right in front of you.

    While i really like the backfire RGB on the sattelite speakers of the Nommo i would rather go without fancy lighting but likely way better sound with the Teufel kit or maybe a set of used Adam Audio monitor speakers. And you could assemble a 5.0 set with (used) active studio monitor speakers for roughly the same money Razer asks for the Nommo V2 Pro. You won´t get configurable RGB lighting with the mentioned alternatives but on the other hand you won´t need any proprietary software ;)

    as a long time audio enthusiast... sound bars just don't give the full experience of proper separates. Of course I say this now with a full 5.1 surround setup on my PC, but even for more modest setups I always stick with at the very least 2 speakers that can be separated out as far as the desk allows.

    I own a set of Razer Mako 2.1 (circa 2009) and a set of Razer Nommo Pro 2018. I actually honestly prefer the Mako’s for the general listening experience. They have drivers that fire down into the desk to create an “omnidirectional” listening experience. Sounds like a gimmick, but it makes the sound feel really immersive. I’m surprised no one has else has made downward firing speakers since the Makos. These v2 pros honestly look like a downgrade from the 2018 pros, I guess for a lower price, but it is 5 years later. They could have made these a way more compelling product.

    Not a Razer fanboy but they look better / more high-end than all the alternatives you have mentioned at the end. Razer has always charged a bit more than average for their products and I think the premium aesthetics somewhat justify it. Generally speaking, I think there is a lack of really high end speakers specifically designed for gaming. If Bang & Olufsen, Beyer Dynamic, Sennheiser and/ or Bowers & Wilkins would make some premium gaming speakers they would definitely stand out.

    I'm wishing more reviews will do a comparison chart. Isolated reviews are okay and all but do very little for comparing against alternatives. How do the Creative Katana V2 soundbar stack up against say the Logitech G560, for example? Buyers can deduce from certain videos, but there is no direct benchmark.
    It is like the other hardware reviews out there for monitors and peripherals. Really wish there is a side by side comparison.

    • @samgoff5289
      @samgoff5289 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sound is super subjective, there is no way for you to hear what the reviewer is hearing and even if he likes somthing does not mean you will. There is no sound bar that will sound as good as a dedicated set of 2.1 speakers and buying "gaming" brands speakers is asking to get ripped off

    • @inconvenientfacts58
      @inconvenientfacts58 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@samgoff5289 I understand what you are saying but that means any review is basically subjective? Sound is subjective, monitor refresh rate is subjective, mouse comfort is subjective. There is a lot that is dependent on the individual user, but reviews do show case the specifications, physical appearance and impressions. My issue is every review is an isolated experience with no real side-by-side comparison. It's like with monitors. It looks like every review of a decent monitor sees that as a "Highly recommended" monitor, but that is a big difference between moving from a 27" screen to a 45" screen, compared to say, a 49" non-OLED to a 45" OLED. It's that level of comparison I feel is missing from most reviews.
      On a similar note, Hardware Canucks gave a glowing review of the Creative Katana V2 soundbar before. They also gave a good review for the Logitech G560. What I wish to see is how the two compare.

    I love my Nommo pros (the original not v2) but I’ll be the first to admit they have had a multitude of problems over the years but when they are working correctly they are sooo much fun. 95 percent of the time they are fine. Now I will say that the v2’s have substantially less to offer so if my speakers ever go out i will not be buying the v2. As it stands right now optical and usb handle my Xbox and pc and I switch between the two and that’s super nice. This setup on the v2 simply wouldn’t allow that and I’d have to figure out some way around it. Maybe a usb source switcher if that exists? Said n done tho I don’t think it’s worth it. Why people would want a 2.1 system over a soundbar is, imo, soundbars all (that I have personally heard) all have kind of a filter over the sounds, like you went into Windows sound settings and changed the virtualization to concert hall or something, they don't sound "clean" if that makes sense. It's like they're processing the audio too much, similar to how TVs sometimes look really bad as computer monitors unless you turn it to PC specific modes with less filtering and such. Even cheap multiple speaker setups sound better. I had a 2.1 soundbar that got obliterated by the cheapest 5.1 surround sound set (I think it was like 40 bucks) without the center or rear speakers hooked up, so it was compared equally as 2.1.

      I will have my one tomorrow, then I will let you know. I love my Nommo Pro V1, but the cables are way too short. But I have read in one review that the sound of V2 is better. So I am excited to test it out.

    • @davidberger7359
      @davidberger7359 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I have tested both and I am not really sure.
      They sound both different, and my first thought was, that the V1 sounds better. But with a bit of tweaking in Synapse, V2 sounds really good. But I am not an sound expert though. I have listened to a few Rap songs and I like the direct sound of V2 and the bass. Plus I am happy that I dont need so many cables with the new version (it really looks awful with all the cables all over my desk). But all in all I would say that both sounds great, but different. If you dont mind the short cables, take the V1 Pro or V2 (V2 is like the V2 pro but with more cables). If you need longer cables/fewer cables (like me, because I dont have space for the subwoofer under my desk), then pick V2 Pro.
      Of course there are plenty of other options, and someone can call me naive, but in the past I had the Teufel Concept C and Edifier S360DB. The Teufel one was great, but after a few years there were many bugs and problems, the Edifier S360DB was just awful. Awful design, very bad subwoofer and the sound was meh (yes, I prefer the sound of Razer over Edifier).
      If there are any more questions, feel free to ask me :)
