i bought these as well still over wonderful sound quality there is something about them that just makes them work there not like the logitech THQ you will go deaf speakers but these dont have to make a audience go deaf to enjoy
Im actually quite surprised and would even buy a pair of these, love that minimalist design and the led representation of the volume level is just the icing on the cake, Thanks for the Review.
Thanks for this review!! I just bought these after this video, they’re truly amazing considering their price and strange profile. I was mostly looking for desk speakers that weren’t huge but also weren’t terrible considering my monitor’s inbuilt speakers are awful
I definitely plan on picking up a set of these. Do I want to spend $50 on just RGB lights? Not really. Am I going to spend $50 on just RGB lights? Heck ya! Great review, keep up the great work!
"High quality TH-camrs" don't necessarily know what they're talking about. Just because they're famous or are in the tech world doesn't make them audio enthusiasts
These youtubers have probably never heard a good set of monitors in their life. That, and selling out to sponsors. Seriously, a great pair of $100 bookshelf speakers or monitors will run circles around these. Razer is marketed towards gamers who buy things because of the branding and looks, not people who actually give half a shit about quality.
Sounds like a decent low cost option if they are as good as you say. I have some nice B&Os with a mint amp but thats a bit overkill for the amount of hq audio I listen to at the computer.
Just got a pair of the chroma version at a sale. Awesome audio, mostly use to play music and movies. Wish the rgb lightings are brighter as they are too dim. Huge PC speakers but love the unique design.
Very good review, but I want to say a sound test can be misleading, an accurate sound test require a very good microphone and the viewer needs a speaker better than the one being reviewed. I think it's great you have sound tests, but maybe mention that it can be misleading
i got a pair of the base model nommos (non-chroma) yesterday, they do sound great and i'm happy with my purchase, but... if you don't already a subwoofer you can use, I'd highly recommend checking out logitechs z623 2.1 thx certified system if you really like to feel your bass, it's in a similar price range where i am (Australia). Only minor gripe i have with the base model nommos so far is that the speakers are joined by a fixed cord you can't unplug from either end. Not really a big deal seeing as the cord is easily long enough to get the speakers to the far ends of my reasonably big desk with plenty of slack left over, it just bothers me when cords aren't easily extendable or replaceable . Btw the logitechs z623 has similar issue with proprietary cords.
That video was FANTASTIC. Super clean audio quality, aesthetically superior video footage, and overall just a masterful video. Love to see this kind of quality production for TH-cam!
That Katana sounding lit tbh. Whew, dodge a bullet. Thanks for for that comparison. I wasn't a huge fan of the Katana to begin with so that's saying something
no sub at this price point means a no for me. The design looks great but the overall sound experience doesn't seem to do enough. $40 2.1 logitech stereo speakers that come with a sub are minimal enough and sound great for the price.
You mentioned that the two models sound exactly the same.... But, how good is the DAC? I think that would determine whether I would spend the 50 extra bucks... Thanks!
DACs decode digital sound to analogue. If your PC has a better DAC/sound card, you may prefer to stick with the regular non-USB/RGB Nommos, as the USB Nommos will render it useless.
these look pretty cool, flashy too if you go with the chroma but i would still recommend to anyone that really cares about audio quality to save up a little more money and invest in some quality studio monitors
I have always liked speakers more than headpones for gaming. Sound isn't locked to your ears and honestly i don't like to wear headphones it's just better when there isn't anything on your head. 2.1 sound is good enough because you can hear from what side of the screen the sound is coming.
Looks just like the Woofers of my Lasmex A115. But the A115's also got a tweeter. Even if the Razer Nommos sound as good as the Lasmex, I still only paid 40€ for my pair (brand new). Without a doubt they're not as fancy looking and got no RGB, but the build quality and connection-options combined with the price are easily on top of the Razer speakers. Would be nice if you could get your hands on a pair of Lasmex A115 and compare them.
The Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system (THX-certified) is on Massdrop for $119 right now, which is about the same price you can almost always find the Logitech Z623 2.1 system (also THX-certified) at as well. I admit I have not yet heard the Nommo in person, but both the Klipsch and Logitech offerings have to be leaps and bounds better in both frequency range and overall sound quality with more RMS power and actual driver separation with crossovers. Sorry, but one "full range" woofer does not make a complete audio solution, especially at this highly competitive price range. And if you just want a simple 2.0 system, there are excellent small studio monitors at the same price (Mackie CR3s, PreSonus Eris E3.5, etc.). Also, I mean, I don't know about you guys, but I prefer my speakers pointing at my ears rather than my chest. Those stands really should be adjustable. I appreciate the video content and Razer's attempt at creating something unique, but they really need to offer way more features and value at this price range in order to be competitive in my opinion.
Opening: for consumers who want a balanced soundstage. Soundstage: the sounds that seem like they come from away from the drivers, I’m pretty sure you can’t get soundstage with speakers.
If you want good desktop speakers? Get a set of the logitech Z623. It's a 2.1 set and they're THX certified. And the sound quality is fantastic for the price. Which is 100-150 depending on sales
i like ur review. u give proper description. im currently using EDIFIER M1380. i like that it has a dedicated amp and volume control with mute switch. not sure if i should switch to razer. thanks
I just bought this along with OriginPC Millennium 5000X RTS V2 and Corsair Xeneon 32 ISP Monitor. I’d say I spent a good $5,000 for this setup. I hope it’s worth it 😁
@HardwareCanucks This might be a weird question, but is there a difference in sound quality between the non-Chroma version and the Chroma version using aux input? I like the LEDs but my setup would work better using the 3.5mm cable...
Vanatoo T0 has USB DAC, optical in, 3.5mm in, coaxial in, Bluetooth, passive radiators, subwoofer pre out, and an amp for each drive to cut down on crossover noise. All that for 350 dollars and I guarantee you folks the T0s sound 10 times better than their $500 model and much better than their $150 model.
If you're frugal enough on your Goodwill trip you can easily find $100 2.0 systems for super cheap. I got two in my last trip and I hardly even look! problem is they rarely bundle the AC adapter with it so you may be on the hunt for it at that store if your lucky or you may have to hunt it down at amazon or ebay and that may end up costing you 3x what you spend on the speakers plus you have to be ok with purchasing the things blind lol... which is probly why these deals are SO easy to find. But again, bring a smartphone into your local goodwill/ thrift shop (I actually hate goodwill) and scour the electronics bin for 10 minutes and I guarantee you'll find some spectacular deals! I got Creative Gigaworks T40 (150 on Amazon) for 5 bucks _ 20 bucks for an AC adapter on Ebay (it's propriatary :( but if your lucky you'll find one that's not and a generic adapter right there!). If you're good with 2.0 I suggest this route.
Got mine barely used for 70 bucks. Honestly just bought them for the LED and because I trust Razer to have a decent build quality. They sound alright for not having a subwoofer. Still, wouldn't recommend anyone to buy them at full price.
Considering the base version. The USB DAC doesn't seem worth $50 dollars to me...and last time I dealt with RGB in a more permanent sense I voided an item's warranty.
Shibe Doggo it's incredibly tiny. You won't even notice it. It's no bigger than the adapters for wireless mice. Others have internal USB hubs to place crap there inside their builds and forget about it
I purchased these, and was very disappointed. The sound isn't worth the price. Trebles are blurry and distorted, it doesn't fit all kind of musics, especially voices. It can be heard actually in this video at 6'00. The Katana sound has a way better balance. For the same price, get Edifier 1700BT: way better!
How does this compare with Bose Companion 2 Series 3 or Companion 20? I'm also interested in knowing how the Nommo Pro compares to Bose Companion 5 or 50?

What's with the distracting router light on the desk??
Interesting speakers but why don't the $100 version come with USB connectivity? A 3.5mm jack good for headphones but I think it's past time that desktop speakers come standard with USB connectivity.
For 99€ in sales (about 150 CAD), i grabed some Logitech Z623. wich come with a subwoofer (2.1 system) and i can ensure without listening to those razers, these logitech put those razer to shame... They lack a little of higher crysp frequencies, but the lows are just incredible for the price. Check them out

At RAZER office:
Guys, found something that doesn't have rgb yet, speakers!
But we don't make speakers?
We do now!
I got these, and there ACTUALLY REALLY GOOD...
Okay kripp
THEY'RE
i bought these as well still over wonderful sound quality there is something about them that just makes them work there not like the logitech THQ you will go deaf speakers but these dont have to make a audience go deaf to enjoy
It is better compare to jbl flip 4?
Are they yeah? I've just got a new set there ?
You guys always have the most beautiful product shots. Really appreciate the effort that goes into each video.
Im actually quite surprised and would even buy a pair of these, love that minimalist design and the led representation of the volume level is just the icing on the cake, Thanks for the Review.
Finally, speakers for gamers! I'm still waiting for RGB dust filters :)
Please be joking.
Haha, yes.
Jarrod'sTech u must be kidding me rgb dust filter that will be cool
No! I am waiting for RGB motherboard standoffs!
That is a very creative way to implement rgb lol

Descenter1976 but is it rgb?
Descenter1976 lol
And Asus has a DEO Stick
yes, hilarious haha
And trash can subwoofer
nommo?
Razer have nommo ideas for their naming scheme, eh?
No, they're still following their naming scheme for Audio ;) The Nommo are a mythology Water thingy
These look like surveillance cameras.
I switched my Bose companions for the razer nommo chroma , man what was I missing! These speakers are definatly worth the buck ! They sound amazing.

Really dislike the cable routing. Ruins the unique aesthetics.
Thanks for this review!! I just bought these after this video, they’re truly amazing considering their price and strange profile. I was mostly looking for desk speakers that weren’t huge but also weren’t terrible considering my monitor’s inbuilt speakers are awful

As soon as I was on the website to get a pair and this was uploaded. Perfect timing.
Awesome review, the comparison to Katana shows the difrence beteewn a speaker with dedicate subwoffer and one without.
I might just pick these up! Going to check out the newegg reviews on release!
Everyone is sceptical and think these are trash yet every video I’ve watched on these posted by honest, high quality youtubers have said otherwise...

Will93 Well Dmitry has done plenty of videos against gaming oriented audio. So at least he knows a little bit of what he's talking about.
Jeremy Clarkson Yeah, you're right. I forgot he has HD800s.
Can't wait to see your review on the Nommo Pro!
Sounds like a decent low cost option if they are as good as you say. I have some nice B&Os with a mint amp but thats a bit overkill for the amount of hq audio I listen to at the computer.

I love my setup with this Razer Nommo Chroma. Good purchase with the quality sound.
I just bought the Logitech Z625, I´m like blown away. This things sound freaking great. (I have never bought a 2.1 system before, just headsets).
no sub at this price point means a no for me. The design looks great but the overall sound experience doesn't seem to do enough. $40 2.1 logitech stereo speakers that come with a sub are minimal enough and sound great for the price.
I already have the Z506 plugged into my Sound Blaster Omni 5.1 so my sound setup is pretty good already.
If the HC approve, its worth it. Got a huntsman mini on their reccomendation. Havent looked back!
Just bough these today...LOVE THEM!!!
You mentioned that the two models sound exactly the same.... But, how good is the DAC? I think that would determine whether I would spend the 50 extra bucks...
Thanks!
You could add a subwoofer ussing the headphone port and modifying the speakers to keep playing while headphones are connected
50 Are way to much for just RGB
It has a built in dac aswell, but yes 50 is way too much for the small extras
and a subwoofer and a dac
+Gabe Taylor. Nope, that is the 500 usd version
There's a DAC with the Chroma (There has to be for USB source audio) the Subwoofer is the Pro only, the pro also has an extra set of tweeter drivers

1- The Katana sounds awesome!
2- On your gear list, I see you didn’t add (the apogee) can you show us how you have that hooked up to the PC.

What mobile stand is that on your desk? Looks nice and sleek - I want D:
I have the same mouse and router! But I'm using a Schiit Dac and Amp, and JBL powered monitors.
Can it doubles as a headphone stand and does the DAC amplify headphones when plugged in ? does the knob amplify headphones ?
I'm really confused. You said the chromo version has a USB for sound input but I didn't see it on yours?
Funny how people just take pride in hating on Razer when the products they produce are just fine and up there with any other brand...
