Exfoliate Your Scalp Using Your Skincare Products

  • That time I got a Scalp Exfoliation Treatment with Biologique Recherche was game changing. Even though this year has seen many new scalp-focused formulas and some of them are quite fabulous, they're not like acid toners for the scalp which is what I experienced. I'm showing you how to exfoliate your scalp without effectively without having to get additional products for that purpose. You can use your existing skincare as a good pre-shampoo exfoliation treatment! This is how I do it!

I do this too! It's cheap and it's a big bottle. I tend to get pretty oily so I mix mine with a little bit of my Paula's Choice 2% Salicylic (the body one because it's cheaper per ounce). Put them into a dropper bottle, apply, and massage at night. I love it! My hair has never been my best feature but since I started paying more attention to my scalp I've seen a world of difference!

@@Doorto_theriver That doesn't exist. Seborrheic dermatitis isn't something you can permanently get rid of :/ So nizoral is indeed one of the best ''cures'', if you accept the fact that it can always flare up again. Personally I've found only 2 things that worked to get rid of my scales that were building up and keep my sclap calm for 2 years now whenever it flairs up, #1 is nizoral shampoo and #2 is what ''cured'' my seborrheic derm the first time I found out I had it which is homemade flaxseed gel! I just leave it on for 1 hour before a shower, wash it off, and did that 2x a week until all my scales were gone and it worked! Definitely would recommend it and its super cheap to make :) Sadly though it can always flare back up but using oat milk as a scalp mask has also helped my flare ups from not happening as often. It sucks to have, but once you find a few things that work it gets better!

For dry scalp in the winter time I can also recommend washing your hair with oil based cleansers. Simply section your hair similar to Renee in the video, and apply your oil, then massage for a minute or two and rinse out under the shower.
I have curly hair, so I like to use aloe gel instead of regular hair gels or mousse because it keeps my hair hydrated and doesn't irritate my skin. I also apply some on my scalp and again, this has helped so much!

So glad you're talking about dry flakes on scalp, which are different from dandruff. I used to have A LOT of it until I use a DIY apple cider vinegar-green tea rinse and it reduced my flakes a lot. I haven't tried massaging my scalp and leaving it on for 10-15 min (I usually leave it on for 7 min) and maybe that'll really help my dry scalp/acne. Otherwise I'll purchase the products you mentioned and see how they help my scalp.

Here's what my dermatologist advised me to do to wash my hair more effectively- Get one of those hair root applicators (the ones that have a kind a screw-on squeezable bottle attached to a comb with openings), fill up the bottle with a dilution of water and shampoo, shake it up, and apply it onto your scalp after you wet your hair! This way you target your scalp so you don't have to spend more time rinsing your hair or do extra washes that dry your scalp out. (:

I had the idea to use acid in my hair because I just had a seb derm episode that's healed, no more sore spots or itchiness but there are all these flakes on my scalp as the aftermath that 3x shampooing will not remove and I didn't want to be too rough in taking them off because I'm realising that's how seb derm leads thinning hair, when forcing off the flakes take your hair with them!
What I have currently though is Azelaic acid and the Lactic Acid 5% + HA, both by the ordinary, so I'm trying to see if anyone has used skin acids in their scalp, especially these ones?
Might get mandelic acid as well
