I keep coming back to this video. I grew up in the 90s and loved this song when I was a teen but Peter Murphy's vocals totally own this song now.

Holy dog shit!!! This is absolutely amazing! How in the goddamn hell were they able to perform while remaining motionless the entire time?!! Yet another Trent Reznor anomaly. The other being that he's seemingly remained ageless; his voice has at least. He sounds exactly the same today as he did in 1989.

With the internet, there's sooo much more to keep up with!! I always hoped to hear Peter Murphy do some collabs like this. I wonder how he and Danny Elfman would sound together. I love both their voices. I saw Peter Murphy in Detroit in 90 or 91 on the river, and it was amazing. I never thought concerts would become so much harder to afford. VIP tiers, greed, and scalping has ruined things for a lot of real fans.

Murphy'S voice is so deep and measured that it barely pitch shifts when you double time it.
Thanks for commenting - I often forget about the playback speed control. I really like it at 1.25. Original sounds a tad too slow.

i remember hearing this on the radio on my way to the show and i was like "whoa!" it was fucking awesome and that was my first NIN show as it's still the best concert i ever went to.

Two sessions were not recorded in video, this one and the Joy Division tribute. Personally I believe Trent recorded everything but as always he probably discarded those because a tiny little thing he didn't like lol
Always liked Peter Murphy back in the days of Bauhuas and Dalis car (with Mick Karn RIP) but these collaborations with Trent are totally out there. Gives hope to us older generation that we can always improve with age.
I'm writing while I'm listening it, however the voice of Peter Murphy and the the music playing by Trent Reznor ensemble in a perfect way, like never happened again. In my humble opinion sounds like better than the original version.

I remember, this morning, after... 37 years, who introduced me to the album. Chenoa Seaboy, from I believe the Rosebud Reservation, had invited me to her apartment in Midtown Memphis, Tennessee. After we listened, her cat walked over to me. When, unthinkingly, I lowered my hand to pet it, it jumped in the air and bit my forearm. That was an omen. Chenoa was forwarned, & so was I, I suppose. Oh well. Thanks to her for introducing me to the music.

Peter Murphy grew on me. Wasn't a fan of the vocals at first but I dig em now.
I totally get what you mean. He has a very strange way of singing the syllables. On top of that, he has a strange way of going out of tune. But once you're used to it, you hear the art in it. Its unique. And he goes out of tune in predictable ways, that have a certain effect on the harmonizations. Its part of the show, not a mistake.
