@@FixinBugsNStuff Awesome, I have a 1963 beetle and recently purchased the WW complete wiring as well and most of it looks very similar to yours. Mine is still 6v and also have the conversion kit to 12v so hopefully you make a 6v to 12v video in the future as I think you were very thorough and detailed in our video. Thanks again and subbed to your channel
@@justdiyit9683 the wiring I showed is for a 12v setup. The 66 did have a 6v system, but the wiring was too old to use. So I ordered the WW wiring for the 6v setup. The gauge of wire is what matters concerning amperage. The good part is, upgrading to 12v doesn’t change anything. Except, flasher relay, wiper motor, starter, ignition coil, generator, flywheel and all lightbulbs. If you have already done this than you are in good shape. I believe I have a video showing how to change the armature for the wiper.
Wanted to say thank you, I draw a blank when it comes to electrical but you gave the motivation to remove my wires, by the harness and start the installation. Appreciate the video, thanks again. Great job.
Dude.... life saver. Doing a full restore on a 69 for my wife. First full restore ever, and my experience is lacking in electrical. These videos you made are beyond helpful and I can't thank you enough. The bug came stripped for paint with no electrical components on it. Was pausing the video to get my list going for parts. When it's finally time to wire it up(chassis is currently off body and it'll be a while before it gets painted), I'll be referencing these videos. Thanks again, dude.
I always take pictures when I dismantle stuff like this, now, but I did not 6 or so years ago when I totally dismantled this 69 I’m totally restoring. Finally got the paint done and started on the total new wiring harness and sorta forget where the harness was routed etc.. Thank You so much , this helped Me a lot! Mine is a convertible and a bit different, but Got Me on track. Thanks again.
... Hi, just so happened that when I purchased my 1966 VW Bug the Wiring Harness (Wolfsburg West) came with the Bug ... so I'm leaving it aside so when the time comes to be installed and thanks for your Review and Installation process .
Hello it’s 8/30/2023great video by the way I’m about to bring a Manx back to life VERY EXCITED 😊 quick question for you will this harness work for a 1976 Vw Manx?
Any chance you have a shared saved copy of your wiring instructions? It’s much better than one I received with my full kit. Mine look like a kid drew them.
Nice job on the video. It's hard to believe that over 7400 views you only have 220 likes. I been dreading replacing the wiring in my 67 but this video makes it look easy. Thanks for the Key Moments list it makes it easy to follow. I'm converting my generator to an alternator, will this kit work with it also? Last question. Are all the boots you used readily available online?
@@FixinBugsNStuff now other question. Could I use this on my 77? The wires look awfully similar. If not is there anywhere online you'd recommend for this year model?
You could, but it would be better for to actually get the schematic for your year. You can find it here: www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiringt1.php

Hi, what year is this specific bug you’re wiring?

Look at Wolfsburg West and see what they have.
great tutorial and all explained so everybody can replace it.
good job
I hope it helps someone.
Do you think we should put some heat shrink on the connectors??
What kind od spray you put on wire make it easier go through.
A silicone spray. It does not agitate the wire insulation.
Vielen Dank für deine Arbeit. Das war sehr hilfreich

Thanks for watching.
Jim would like to know which harness you bought for this project? You do a great job on teaching in this video!
Wher I can find this manual?
And the Harness?
Perfect tutorial!
Outstanding job on the video! That kit sure seems to be a top not harness.

Oh man!!! You make it look so easy 😊🎉❤
I got that harness from wolfurwest. My oval 1956 year has semaphore. What ia your recommendation in my case?
Did you order the harness for a 56? If so, it should come with the wiring for the semaphores. If not, you can run them.

I have a 71 squareback. Is the wiring setup the same???.
No it is not. Is it fuel injected? Totally different wiring.
Which harness did you get. Got a 1967 bug
Get one from Wolfsburg West. They are really good with full instructions.
Thank you very much.

What gauge (wire) did you use to add your tachometer wires?

Is there any interference running the tach wire next to the main harness?
Nope none at all.

Yes. There may be a few extra wires for the flasher relay.

Why would those wires not be included in the WIRE HARNESS
