Really? That was one of my favorite parts of this video. They were cracking me up. He looked so confused like "huh a baby came out of there so weird, it smells just like him". He keeps touching her back end and smelling his hand, then he touches the baby and smells his hand. It's hilarious and totally worth laughing at.
Haoko must have been about 16 in this, pity we don't get to see much of beautiful little Komomo, she's as tough as nails and would have survived anything.
Someone Rescue this poor mum so she can take care of her Baby in Peace.
He really loves her smell. He is totally in love with that lady. All he sees and thinks about is her and her smell. He lives for her.
I wonder why he didn't try with another female as she clearly wasn't interested.

I lowered the volume those girls laughing sound so stupid and immature. He's always biting his wife's too. I don't see any of the other silver backs at zoo's doing that. That can't even escape him. In the wild they would be gone.

Those weren’t bites, but for the last one might have been a tiny nip. Mostly love-teeth and slobber! His arms and butt were shaking, but not his head. When a silverback really bites for discipline, his teeth have a good hold of the female and his head is shaking her like a rag doll. And I take exception to the vid title of Childcare Disturbance. What childcare?

Momoko is the best mother ever. She is so kind to all of her kids. And she always has a great attitude toward the others. However she is a strong and protective female. It's no wonder why she has always been the dominant female everywhere she has been.
Can you imagine what she would think of Momo ending up stuck with Genki lol. From what I've read Momoko didn't put up with Genki's craziness.

Haoko is a proud papa, and learning the difference between mating and childbirth smells.😊 He also seemed to be wanting to play with her. He probably did these things with his other children.😊

Why does Momoko act like a 1st time mother.....poor Komomo being drug around the compound. She is way too fat to be having kids!!
She isn't like genki, she doesn't needlessly carry her kids around. After they are a year old they mostly walk on their own. In this clip the baby was on her leg, but usually it was on her back. She gets her kids self sufficient and able to take care of themselves as soon as possible. Which is what the mother is supposed to do. It is why all of her children grow up fast and strong, and big.
Knowing what we know today about Haoko this zoo is extremely negligent. They never provide any activities to mentally stimulate and engage these gorillas. Captivity has made his behavior unnatural and dangerous. He is obsessed with sex. He becomes violent when the females ignore his demands, he still constantly harasses Momoko, and even though Toto always submits, he is now mating with both of his daughters too. The baby needs his mother and the zoo should separate Haoko from them.
I agree. He is one of the lucky silverbacks to have 3 females. At least back then. But he treated all of them like crap. He is very aggressive.
