      Thanks. I'll keep using neocolor but I can't resist using my other materials too. So many art supplies so little time!

    I'm sitting at my picnic table as I watch. Trying to rescue a flower painting I made last night. Learning all the way and enjoying it. Thanks for the video.

    Such a cool idea combining different art forms! And I totally agree with enjoying the learning process. I find great joy in painting plein air even if I haven’t painted my magnum opus yet! 😂

    ❤ this video, ❤ the typewriter, and ❤ your message! I was using my Carandache crayons while sitting on the patio today and used the Carandache palette to mix the crayon colors with other watercolor paints -- I would bet you could use it to mix the watercolor markers as well (it has both a rough and a smooth side ).

    So interesting mixing the modern stuff in the outdoor setting. The 🐞 on the paper was awesome too. He really wanted to help.

      It's funny I never notice the flies while I'm painting but I certainly do when rewatching and editing. Unless of course they are buzzing my face...

    What a unique work of art you created in such a beautiful place. I could practically smell the pine trees! I thought about how when we use a typewriter, we really have to spell correctly and have all of our punctuation, grammar, and spacing just right, or else, we have to start all over! There is no spell check, and our time and paper are precious (oh, and the ink ribbon!). Great concept combining the type with the painting!

      Yeah, I am thankful for computers and the undo buttons! I had two misspelled words n this piece and I used the Posca pen as a sort of white-out for one of them. Tthe other one, I just left because it kind of added to the spirit of the art piece. Thanks for watching.

      @@PaintWithPencil oh, that's funny! I didn't notice. Good thing you had the Posca pen!😄

      ...and I'm just noticing my typos in my reply. Whoops! I wish I could say that was on purpose. It wasn't.

    I watched your “sitting in the truck” painting first, stumbling onto your channel looking for something else, and I felt instantly like kin. Haha. My mother and I just picked up four neo ii crayons and three woody crayons to test and compare and check out. We have decided to order the 30 pack of neo I and break them all in half, putting half in an Altoids tin for her and the other in a separate one for me. The idea is that mine will stay in he car and hers will stay w her while I work. Then if we like them and use them enough, we will invest a little more in them. Both of your videos on these made me feel way more confident in this decision, as I was super worried I’d not know where to start w them. Your no-nonsense, roll with it attitude is so calming and encouraging. I hope you know you will make a difference for many of you keep up these little teaching sessions, dragging us along w you on your imperfect and real-life adventures. By the way, both of these have made me miss my Rockies badly, but I can live vicariously through you as I wait for my time to return to them! Thanks for sharing w us here.

      That is so awesome. Great idea on splitting the neocolors. They often break in half anyway 😁. Thanks for the kind words and encouragement.

    I always am so inspired by your art! I want to paint plein air, but here in Texas it's so bloody blazing hot that it's not fun to sweat all over your painting 😂😅😂 my Neocolors melt outside, so I have to wait for autumn!😊

      Yeah I'd probably opt for air conditioning in Texas too. We will hit the 100s this month but the mountains can be 10-20 degrees cooler than the valleys so that's why I do the drive. That and try to get out early.

    When I see other artists using watercolour markers, they usually put down a small amount of colour and then immediately spread it out with a water brush. I think you could blend colours by doing so in layers.

      Absolutely. Different surface types would have different results as well.

    What is the advantage of watercolour markers over pencils or even watercolour palette?

    • @PaintWithPencil
      @PaintWithPencil  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. I guess it depends on the artist and the types of marks you are trying to make. Markera can make a really saturated clean line. You don't have to use water but once you do it really changes depending on how much you use. If a lot of water is used there is probably no advantage over traditional water color. Same with pencils. It just depends on the look you are after.
