This is part of any rebuild/conversion I thoroughly enjoy. Seeing the creases and wrinkles of the vehicles past and the bare structure. Hyped to see more of the restoration from here on in.
I've got a feeling that a lot of teams went to the more elaborate bar work in the foot well when they changed the rules that you didn't have to run the stock dash but just the carbon fibre shell which allowed a lot more free space in that area
very interesting to see the different concepts of engineering and design between 2 different chassis builds. seeing FTR3 in its naked form lets you see the amount of work done to build it up to a race car. another great vid with alot of info of the cars in the early 2000's.
Wow, amazing! I absolutely love your work. If you're ever looking for a volunteer to lend a helping hand, I’d be more than happy to step up. I’m a Civil Engineer (so I may not have much to offer), but there’s not much I love more than an AU Supercar. So I’m happy with sanding, or bolt washing duties :). These AU Falcons, while not as competitive as the VT and VX of their time, still make my heart skip a beat. I really can’t describe what it is; to be honest, aside from the TEIII and TSIII, I’m not a fan of the road cars either. I’m ford through and through. I attended Queensland Raceway every year with my mum, who worked for Ford and secured us access to garage tours and more. I’ll take a look through my photos; I know I have a lot of BA photos from when cameras were becoming more digital. However, I’m sure there are albums tucked away somewhere, so I'll hunt around for any AU shots I can find. Not they would have been taken by an 8-10 YO.
I worked with a guy who scifleet owed 150k, the guy unlawfully kept a scifleet AU supercar, the guy then disappeared. I heard he went jail, probably for keeping AU. Do you guys know about this?
I'd say keep the upgrades it got during it's competition days but put the Larry bar back in and the rear suspension stiffness bars back in bx thats unique to that car

@@paulmccourt6185 that makes perfect sense 👍
It actual coincides with when teams began using 8 post chassis test rigs

@@Techbitznpcs thanks mate, they had a high workload when they built these things!

Wow really interesting
@@waynelemmon3007 thanks for your support 👍
Brilliant
@@TOOLRacingteam there have been some good hands work on it in the past 👍
I think looking at the extra bar work been added would be the extra cross track support for the chassis flex in corner? Just a thought
@@jessehill1421 yes i think you are onto it 👍

@@beaunorman3706 thanks mate, at this stage we need a time machine to go back and look at the car from 2000/2001 😂

you have probably been asked this before but did the au supercars use both solid axle and irs or just solid axle?
@@brettreader5572 just a solid axle mate, they were all that way until the car of the future came in in 2013 from memory. 👍
Im just about to get rid of the au shell i offered you if you still want it. It needs to go though
@@josephbarker4436 thanks mate, I’ll be in touch 👍
The dash bars would have to be added during it's racing days, too much work for a ride car
@@DaveTVch95 Good point, the white paint is a good indicator also as the chassis was only white during its racing life.
