the usual difference between serial killers and the rest of us is empathy. they lack it. anyone can kill someone once, but continuously, that's lack of empathy. several serial killers were known to have brain damage or under developed empathy centres (usually developed with the mother in childhood).
He could have had that. He didn't want "support" or love, he wanted to be dominate over someone else. I've seen photos of him before his arrest, he wasn't a bad looking guy and apparently he had no problem attracting men. The issue is that he didn't care for being in a relationship with someone who had their own wants or opinions. His father did try to help him find ways to cope without alcohol but he refused to do so. He had a bad childhood and I sympathize with that but quite a lot of other people do too, there were points in his life where he could have made the turn around to be a happier, more well adjusted person. College wasn't for him, that's fair it's not for everyone. The military could've have helped him learn discipline but that didn't work either. The workforce thing peaked with that blood job that he managed to score, if he kept at it maybe he could have had a fulfilling life but he blew that. Ultimately I feel like he had a support system in his father but he didn't trust him with his inner demons/secrets.
its ot that simple dahmers psycology was far more complex than that this show fictionalised conversatios and attitudes to make you empathise with dahmer, its a fact ive studied criminal psycology for years including dahmers case because he was infamous. serial killers and in dahmers case sociopaths are not simply made or born its a constant battle between nuture and nature, dahmer said it himself he thinks he was born this way and to a certain degree he was, having better parents wouldnt have stopped this something else in life would have triggered him into this obsessive compulsive lifestyle. sure we can empathise with dahmers child-self not fitting in and abandonment issues however this show definelty brings more humanity/empathy to dahmer than he really had.
What is it with these 900 years in amerika habs never understood. The Amerikans know that no one gets that old, right ?? We dont have anything like that in Germany the maximum here for murder is 25 years or to life imprisonment. Sorry for my englisch

I feel bad for dahmer he was alone and had no support system if he had someone in he’s life to support him this never would’ve happened
