very clear ,dear GREG ,as usual.it s even easier yo follow and understand you through the helpful legenda.I Perfectly understand the main points to be able to performe a good and deep squat, the concept of tilt and flexibility are extremely important and never to be disregarded. your "no bueno" in the middle of your explanation made me laugh.Thank you Simona M.

Your video is trying to teach everyone to squat exactly like you which will only work for people who have same biomechanics as you, and most people won’t.
Squat ability is highly dependent on the person’s individual unique biomechanics. People’s body proportions vary greatly (eg some have long femur and short torso) and this has huge impact on how they need to squat.
You would know that if you actually were a sports rehab expert
Here is a video that explains it:

Fair point! People are different. The ability to squat and the biomechanics requirements do not change however. Its just a spectrum of joint demands that will shift based on your body structure (and habits that you formed through the years also contributing to motion limitations). I actually am the person in your example with a very long femur relative to torso. Its what made me a good 400m runner in college. Most give the excuse that these people cannot squat deep. On the contrary, you still can. That was the purpose of the video. I gave a picture of what my squat looked like 5 years ago. If you think your genetics are the reason why you cant squat, your squat will never improve. Its the same mentality of thinking you have bad knee genetics because your parents had arthritis. Its a self limiting belief. Will that be the case for some...Yes! But its definitely not the majority. What people won't realize is that it took 5 years of consistent work to get to that point (even though I mentioned that in the video) They will assume it can be done in 5 weeks. Realistically 3 of those years I wasn't working on the correct things so I made little to no progress. It wasn't until I started working anterior tilt and toe touch that my squat improved. I mentioned other variables in the video as well because I am aware that this will not work for everyone. Appreciate your comment and watching!

@@sportsrehabexpertsit’s great you managed to achieve a squat despite long femur challenges however there actually are people like me who have literally tried everything and simply cannot squat. Clearly my long femurs and short torso issue is worse than yours because I have worked with both a personal trainer and an osteo in a top sports clinic who is a specialist in correcting movement patterns. I’ve had tons of coaching and my range of motion.optimised for squats and still unable to back squat. It’s not just an excuse or self limiting belief, it’s a fact… just like it’s a fact that some people are just too short to reach the top shelf, I doubt you’d tell such a short person to stop using their height as an excuse, and if they keep thinking their genetics are the reason they can’t reach the top shelf well then they will never improve. No, you’d recognise there is a limitation and reality is that no matter how much effort they put in they will never reach the top shelf. Same goes for some people with squats.

@@anniroc1101 Hmmm. Interesting analogy... but, if memory is correct, the ground is under everyone's feet regardless of how tall or short. As a result, a squat is not the same as reaching for a shelf. That being said, a squat does have its challenges. Some may never complete a "squat" and are relegated to just a "sq". But, that doesn't mean whether its a "sq" or "squat", it can't be as functional in its results for muscular improvement both in stretching and strengthening.

@@anniroc1101 never said this advice was specific to you. I give out specific advice when I work with people directly. TH-cam is general advice for the majority but in no way is the intent to be specific to anyone. In most cases it can be improved upon, I will still hold steady on my stance. Ive never seen you move, no idea of your age, or medical history (nor is youtube the place to discuss this). I have no idea what you are dealing with. In some cases I will make a different recommendation, but again that is on a individual basis and certainly not the majority. As mentioned above, it is a spectrum, not an all or none. Enjoy your day!
