I was there last weekend. Good little OHV park. Glad to see a fellow Wisconsinite on this side of the country! Glad to see you having a blast, Jake! Makes me miss Wi.
I'm amazed that you actually came to Patterson and Frank Raines! Gonna have to come back out to California and have someone show you around the Rubicon and Fordyce Creek up in the mountains. You can go wheeling for DAYS! Sometimes you can find organized runs of the trails and actually coordinate with clubs/state park rangers to find your way.
Hi TayTay CrayCary - Oh yes, and it was a blast. CA is so big and diverse with all it has to offer. The foothills/Sierra's are on my list of places to come back again! If you haven’t already, please complete my 50 State Road Trip Questionnaire so I will have your contact info when I’m back in your area. I use the completed questionnaires to meet up with the people you see with me in my videos! Here is the link to the questionnaire which I hope you will complete - goo.gl/forms/ZopZP74rkYqGTBhh1
You might consider popping your various oil drain plugs out and checking for water in things that shouldn't have water in them... Voice of experience speaking here.
man I've been into 4wheelin for a long time and i live 45 minutes from Frank reins park never been there I've only been mostly in the mountains out here in Cali on fire trails
...Jake, right before you start off-roading, what was the thing that u realease? And why u did that? It is the thing below the chassis near the tie-rod (at video minute 5:40) thank u
Can someone provide some input? I'm new to 4 wheeling and was curious when to be in 4 hi and 4 lo. Like at 7:33 what do you think jake was in? Also my jeep is a Manual so what gear should I be in and all? Thank you.
MikeyC831 if you're in a JK...4Hi as soon as you get on the trail...4Lo as you start to get incline or some rough path. Depending on the gearing of the rig...you may use 4Lo a little more sparingly than that.
Great video I'm a jeep guy myself I've owned Yj Xj and my first Zj now and actually I have a XJ and a Zj both right now but great VIDEO I'm from MODESTO CA and I'm ready to hit some trails
Should post up an AMA or just some shots of the jeep on r/jeep saw you got some love on r/overlanding as well! Would love to see ya over on reddit man some good dudes in the jeep sub! Keep truckin man only a few more years left in the service for me and then I will be doing the same thing just in my 4 door JK for a little more room!
NEVER NEVER NEVER park in someone's concrete driveway with an old vehicle that probably has a leak or two. Oil stains are MUCH more visible on concrete and most home owners will appreciate the courtesy :-) 3:32
Yeah, you can definitely tell he's from Oregon! I can still remember the last time I was there. The guy working at the gas station started laughing at me when I jumped out to pump my own gas. "You must be from California, right?"
Woow! That's so freakin Awesome! Congrats on a safe trip, Jake and Annie. As well as us Wranglers!
did you happen to catch that good looking Toyota FJ at 3:00 ?
Two classics, love it
That's my friends FJ
The next mod should be a snorkel for jade lol
Spencer Delpho just totalled my jk because of not having one wasn't deep at all it was the recovery that got muddy water in the engine.
Seriously. Jake, if you are going 2/3 that deep in mud/water you need a snorkel. Bad things happen when water gets to that low stock air cleaner.
Did they position the air filters lower in the Cj's? I know my TJ's is mounted high in the engine bay.
on the 4.2L the upper max would be almost to the fender depending on the air cleaner assembly that he is running

MikeyC831 if you're in a JK...4Hi as soon as you get on the trail...4Lo as you start to get incline or some rough path. Depending on the gearing of the rig...you may use 4Lo a little more sparingly than that.

I'm new to the whole off road car world and I want to know what he disconnected before the trial? like what was it and how does it help
James Smith He disconnected the sway bars which allows the suspension to get full flex. Better on extreme uneven ground.

Yo im from Stockton, Ca!

How do you find these ohv parks? This is in my back yard and I had never even heard of it.
NEVER NEVER NEVER park in someone's concrete driveway with an old vehicle that probably has a leak or two. Oil stains are MUCH more visible on concrete and most home owners will appreciate the courtesy :-) 3:32
Is that a Dana 35 I spy with those tires and added weight?

russbriggs did you see that mud water crossing without a snorkel? That could have been a sippy cup moment.
you should have stayed the night up there jake!, and camped out!
(People from Oregon don't know how to pump gas) haha just kidding
True tho
Yeah, you can definitely tell he's from Oregon! I can still remember the last time I was there. The guy working at the gas station started laughing at me when I jumped out to pump my own gas. "You must be from California, right?"
Nut Jon weird cause I've always pumped my own gas here in Canada
Seems to be simple thing to do 😂😂😂😂

BFG's MUD TERRAIN T/A KM2 All Terrain Radials - 33/10.5R15
Not unusual on YJs to have to hold the gas nozzle up against the roof of the filler neck the entire time you're filling up. It's a habit by now.
