    This video is so true, biking around is my therapy, even after crashing so many times, it's still worth it. It's great to move around with such a basic vehicle that you are the engine of - bycicle. You don't have to worry about shit, your problems that seem to be so big now are just sidequests, you can feel the beauty of your surroundings. Unfortunately I don't have a bike currently, but I'll get one. What a waste to live in your small world limited with some chores and problems you hold on too much, go out there outside in the big world and balance your life

    Hi just discovered your channel and went through your videos a bit... this one was recommended to me and I felt very concerned lol
    I've lived in Sweden for a year where the bike is king and safe. But moved back to south of France and riding a bike is a dangerous and bold movement. Last week a 27 guy got driven over and killed by a SUV mindfully in Paris. I want the bike to set me free and it really does, but I'm scared and stuck to go out on the road with it

    2:40 During the last 2 years it's always been my cheapest bike that was the most reliable. And I'm not saying that just because I tend to neglect it although I do. Being relatively new to cycling it feels counter intuitive that the more I spend on a bike the most likely it is to brake, feel wrong, or need maintenance and tuning.
    It's fun to try all sorts of different bikes like expensive, cheap, mountain, gravel, road, single speed, fixed, and even foldable . But I always come back to my cheap bike because no question needs to be asked. I just ride it and it feels good doing it. Simplicity is key hence why I like channels like yours or Bikefarmer,

    I have a very similar frame on my 70s or 80s Japanese city bicycle. It's so good to ride. Generally, old bicycles seem great to ride. Though, mine is more than a garbage bike, I put some money into it. New tires, new tubes where appropriate, better handlebars, mudguards. It also has a rear drum brake, a front rim brake, and a 3-speed gear hub. It is the best bicycle I've ever ridden, and I spent maybe 100 USD on it if not less. Got the base for it for ~30 USD, though I had to switch some things in order to make it actually comfortable.
    I really wish I could ride it for a long time, but I'm way too familiar with my surroundings, and getting further than them is a bit of a pain. But this video definitely motivates me to explore more, and I will. The biggest issue is that I can't ride whenever I want simply because I don't live alone. It's frustrating.

    For me, this works with any kind of wheels.
    Well, I should specify, not cars. But anything else goes. I have a fixed gear bike, a unicycle, 2 pairs of inline skates, and some more gimmicky modes of transportation.
    At the moment I love my skates the most, I could just roll for hours...
    As a matter of fact, I do often roll for hours
    The sense of freedom is immense, I don't understand why so few people do these kinds of things

    • @addvurtbikes
      @addvurtbikes  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Totally! Everything with wheels is fun. Even cars to some degree but they are usually the worst choice. In my life I have been on regular bikes, gravel, bmx, inlines, skateboard, longboard and now fixies. I even tried a onewheel once and loved it. Wheels are the best :)

      Thank you very much! Riding in the english countryside is a bit of a dream for me, at least if it’s not raining ;) I actually don’t have a good solution for long casual pants. They always get black markings eventually. These ones just happen to be new. In my previous videos I use my light blue jeans which were in terrible condition. Then I cut them into shorts. But when I ride less casually, I use tight jogging pants or jogging shorts. I never use bibs.

      A chain guard is the best option. My 80s Japanese 5-speed bike came with one and it works great. It doesn't work very well with more speeds than that.
      Other options are a waxed chain, or a belt drive, but that one requires a new frame with a split in the rear triangle.
