She is witty as f*ck and wow, she was matching Colbert word for word. it was a spitfire conversation. Stephen is the most interesting host and his interviews are always on point. Now I have to find some of Tig's stand up on TH-cam.
Her book "I'm Just a Person" is fantastic, and she has one stand up special on HBO and another on Netflix. I truly admire her work, I hope you check it out
There is a documentary on Netflix called "Tig" that is awesome. It made me then seek out her famous tragedy set that only audio exists of (hint: I finally found it on iTunes, it is amazing & totally worth the $). Long live Tig!!!
@@jv-lk7bc I was thinking that they could host the tonight show together!? I mean that would be the BEST! I giggled until I guffawed. I wuddn't know how to keep a straight face y'all!
She's just one of my favorite people, not only because of what she's been through but for who she is and where she's heading. And Stephen is just the perfect host for her. Two really good people that managed to survive and thrive amidst the shit storm that is show business.
@@ZehenMusic I know this is a year late, but yeah, all those things happened within weeks of each other. She was very ill with an autoimmune disease (C Diff) then her mom hit her head and suddenly died, her girlfriend broke up with her and then she was diagnosed with breast cancer and had a double mastectomy all within months of each other. Then, because of the cancer she was told she wouldn't be able to have biological children because the hormone treatments could kill her, she went through the treatments anyway and lost every viable egg they extracted. So to see her now, happy and healthy and married to the perfect woman for her, with twins, it's truly an incredible story and she's an incredible woman. She doesn't really talk much about what a struggle she went through unless asked, but there's a great documentary called "Tig" on Netflix that's even better now with a happy ending! I'm a huge Tig fan too, obviously, and I commented above Stephen is the best at interviewing her because of his start in improv. She loves to go left field and Stephen can "yes, and" with ANYONE. They're a FANTASTIC combination together! Would love a longer-form with the two of them.
Thanks for sharing this information. Just wanted to add that I think they click so well together because also, both are very, very intelligent. Their humor is not as pelvic-related, or teenagerish, as many others. Not to mention they each are very sensitive people. Stephen tries to hide his, but it's apparent in subtle ways. I think this is my all-time favorite interview of Tig's. And to think that as of 3 months ago I'd never heard of her. Thank goodness for TH-cam. @@Mary_Jacobs
Here's the thing about Tig all y'all, every single person I've seen "interview" her is unabandonly themselves. Completely and wonderfully having the best time with someone they clearly adore. She is so smart and so funny and so fucking real that from my seat it seems like I'm just watching really great friends have a great time with each other. I can't imagine them chatting at home any differently. She melts away any polished layers of Hollywood and self-promotion and PR and just brings out the real in people. I've never seen anyone have an affect on hosts that way. Never. She is warm, smart, funny and someone I would love to know. Cheers!!!
Stephen's background in improv makes him the perfect interviewer for Tig. She seems to get such a kick out of keeping people on their toes, saying the most unexpected thing, getting people to believe something absolutely false, etc. I adore Tig Notaro and have watched almost every major late night host interview her and Stephen is the best at being able to roll with the punches and "yes, and" her sense of humor. Two of my favorite people that make me laugh 👍👍
these two have great comedic chemistry. all of their interviews are hilarious and you can see they truly respect each other and are really enjoying themselves.
If y'all think this interview was awkward y'all need to go listen to her stand-up and watch her other interviews because this might have been the most Tig interview I've ever seen and I loved it
The thing about Tig is you just have to roll along with her. She doesn't make it easy on the interviewer but if you can hang in she is funny in a very unusual and interesting way.
Two of my most favourite comedians and entertainers at the same time! Double enjoyment! Thank you, Stephen and Tig! I just found this today, and enjoyed it tremendously!
Omg, this is the best interview I've seen in ages! Tig has a really original sense of humor and Colbert making the conversation more awkward was great.
I want to see Tig on the show more often! I wish talkshows would have people that don't have anything to plug on and just invite fun people! that'd be a dream
I've always wondered why Tig has never really caught on like some other female comics. I mean, I know the audience for female comics feels generally smaller unless you're Amy Schumer or Iliza Schelsinger but even then any time I've seen Tig's performances the crowds are tiny. It's a real shame, she has such good delivery on her bits.
It's a shame we can't just evaluate comediennes on their skills, rather than comparing them against our limited definitions of femininity. Tig is effing amazing, end of story.
Tig, you are wonderful! I've never heard of you before but now i want to! Thank you for the entertaining interview, you could take over from Stephen anytime he is unavailable ;)
Just a delightful interview. I bet their family is just lovely. Being married to Tig or having her as a parent, can you imagine? Non-stop joy. She is so funny, effortlessly.
i loved every bit of this interview,i wish it was longer. Tig is probably one of the few people who could keep up with Colbert's humor and conversation skills😂
Not one totally negative comment! Of course I didn't dig too deep, but the top comnents were almost all wonderful! There you go Tig, you totally earned all of the love, and I agree with many that Stephen is a great comedy/interview partner!
She is so incredibly quick and funny... And nice. I literally thought he was calling her "babe", too, and thought it was weird, too. 😜 lol. I loved this interview and their back and forth.
I worked with a woman who was from New Orleans who taught me about all y’all, and it changed my life. I’m a Northern California native who continues to live on the North Coast, and I have taken all y’all deeply into my life and use it every chance I get. It’s absolutely lyrical!
I learned about this woman because she voiced the Catalyst Comet on Adventure Time (which rattled my heart) and so I bought some of her brilliant standup. She’s a gem from the center of the Earth.
“I admire your work” “I love you.” DEAD 😂
This entire interview was hilarious.
I like that she is capable of MAKING things awkward on purpose, because that's totally her comfort zone.
Tig Notaro - The Queen of Awkward
you can see how entertained Stephen was throughout the interview.
she's coming back to the show. she might could.
This Tig guy is boring and not even funny
Tig is hilarious. You're apparently a bitter troll. Impressive.
She did come back. Actually four more times in those three years!
