Always fun to see someone news reaction to this fun's series. Can't wait to see what plot threads that you pickup and what little details you miss. Glad you already noticed how much the main casts age, not just Kafka's affects the story.
@LemmingsVT it's really nice as a guy who has passed 40. To answer a few of your questions over the course of the episode: Kaiju is used in this universe as a catch all term for any monster species, just like we would use it. Yoju are the smallest classified kind of Kaiju in the series so far, are a lesser threat and usually only appear with or following the larger / more dangerous tiers. It's never explicitly stated, but understood that most JKDF force members should be able to handle them in a squad level without major difficulty. Honju the next tier up are larger / stronger kaiju that are a explicit threat, and are a difficult target for normal JKDF to handle, even in squads, but that captain's and vice captain's can typically handle solo. Other tiers exist. The reason the civilians were questioning who would show up to stopbthe kaiju is that while divisions 1-4 share some overlapping territory in this region, division 3 has the most famous and popular captain in Mina.

It does feel strange having a main character in his 30s 😆
