I’ve always loved the tempo of the 1996 mtv performance. Slow and groove. I heard in one of the comments, not sure the legitimacy of it. But, supposedly Lars is now playing to a click. So.. slowed down, good mix, good performance = the best recent version of this live since Moscow?
I love how they are playing a bit slower. Much more heavy and badass with that tasty new guitar tone and Black Albumish snare. Massive bass as well in the mix and you get that meaty sound for this slow heavy songs. Awesome.
That's Metallica for you. They give 110% whether they're playing a massive festival for a million people or if they're playing your Uncle Chuck's 4th of July barbecue that WAY too many people brought a green bean casserole to.
I feel like they really shine when it comes to smaller gigs. Like obviously they rule the stadiums. But club gigs and small crowds take them back to the early 80s when the whole idea was to just fuck people up.

Heard it live in Louisville on 9/24/21. Albeit being a fan for over 30 years I went to their live for the first time and when they played Harvester of Sorrow it was simply amazing. I’ve always liked the song but never loved it until I heard it live.

Deep cut just means it’s not as known or as recognizable as their other songs (usually singles) to the general population. I’m not talking about Metallica fans or you specifically. Obviously us Metallica fans love and appreciate all (most) of metallica work which makes us an enthusiast. A lot of us appreciate the “deep cuts” more than their popular music.
I can stop gushing over the fact that this is probably the most consistent and in sync with the band that Lars has sounded in the last 5 years or so, so fucking cool.

One of the best shows I ever went to was Disturbed at Cincinnati in a mid size venue. I was the 13th person through the door, and my hearing has never been the same since.

The sound in this video is superb. They are playing tight, in a smaller venue, and with a good setup, and it has been captured perfectly. Way better than a big stadium gig.

Just saw these dudes at Louisville 9/26. My first time seeing Metallica and it was amazing. You can watch all the live video on TH-cam but seeing them live is something you can’t recreate. Even at their age they still rock and i got goosebumps even after hearing their songs numerous times

Yeah I love seeing them live but often felt they played some songs way too fast. These heavy songs have more of an impact when they slow down a bit!

Just saw these dudes at Louisville 9/26. My first time seeing Metallica and it was amazing. You can watch all the live video on TH-cam but seeing them live is something you can’t recreate. Even at their age they still rock and i got goosebumps even after hearing their songs numerous times
