Thank you, thank you so much! I didn’t know there was a ground out switch inside the throttle, which was my problem after working on the carb. I was pulling my hair out trying to troubleshoot.
If you put a NEW carb on regardless of what make or model it is try turning the fuel switch to reserve then cranking it. Just tried it and it worked. Hope it helps somebody
Another great video. If you ever have a chance, you could show how the ETC won’t allow the bike to idle when the throttle cable is too loose. And its purpose.
So after watching alot of your vids.I decided to tear into it.Removed plastics, tank, ordered a new pump .Was able to get the new carb to bark off with starter fluid.Did run then bogged.Someone told me to dump can of sea foam in tank.Maybe part of issue?.Answered my own question about adjustment idle screw.Once put new carb on.runs good.Part of issue was boot for carb was old unplyable to seal properly used heat gun to soften then pushed on nicely.then installed carb with boot on .Thank you for all your work making vids. Most info there just have to watch.
Did you try and bypass it Like I do? use a small tank and hold it above ( gravity feed ) with a hose. I tune the carb first that way. Then deal with the fuel issues. That way your not hunting in the wrong direction.
@@donnierowland3677 Check your fuel lines, filter. And sometimes the screen in the tanks gets plugged. I just did one. The lines got soft and plugged the nipple coming out of the tank.
I bought a 97 polaris Scrambler 500 h/o with a new carb and new petcock. It runs fine on flat ground but on any incline it sputters like its running out of fuel. I did notice a clear cap on one of the metal hoses coming off the new carb! Is that supposed to be off? The guy i bought it off of has a business fixing atvs so i assume he knows his stuff but everyone makes mistakes, maybehe missed it? . Should i take that cap off? Its a tiny clear cap on a brass colored metal hose coming off the carb, i believe it was on the right side if your sitting on the atv.
We rebuilt the carb on our 1999 Ranger 500. Still ran crappie after the rebuild. We took the diaphragm out and it runs really good. I bought a new diaphragm but haven't installed it yet because I don't want mess it up. Any ideas what the problem might be? Thank you
Can you mention what is zero on idle adjustment, turned it all the way both ways on new carb, will not run at all .You know like 1 1/2 turns from all the way tight?
I'm trying to hook the lines back up on a Polaris 700 Twin (2002) It has the two nipples on the front that I believe go to the airbox. The bottom fule inlet (next to idle adjuster), but then it has another L shaped nipple on the back that resembles the fule inlet.... what attaches there?
I have a pollaris500ho it died while I was running it and it died. I have fuel and spark butwont start. I also checked the ecm.maybe you could answer this problem
I have a 99 polaris scrambler. Put a new choke cable on and now won't start without covering intake for a second or spraying with starting fluid. Does the cable screw all the way in at the carb it's self ? And I do have the mid cable adjust ment as well. Just can't figure this out
The cable screws all the way in the carb. If you have the mid cable adjustment try screwing it in or out to get it to run right. If your covering the intake then it could be leaking air in somewhere like the carb intake boot.
Do you have any idea why after I ride mine for 45 minutes or so all the sudden it will only get half throttle it feels like let it sit for a little bit overnight and it rips again
No the idle adjustment one with spring.Had it adjusted all out of whack by a no start.Had replaced the carb on 98 sportsman 500.ran good for while then no start.Have spark, compression, tried some either it will not even bark off with that.Maybe the fuel pump, can these go bad?How does a guy check that .Unhook line to carb from pmp turn over there is trickle of gas but no big push when turn over? Thanks for any advice trying to watch all your vids.Could it be bad cam cause no start?will also check throttle to see if safety is causing this.
Hey i have a 01 500 sportsman 60psi when pulling pull cord less with estart everything looks good in engine. Won’t start on anything gas starter fluid, almost starts had running acouple times could be the idle screw? Thanks
my jokes trx200 was running really good the one day next thing you the next day won’t stat we cleaned the carb wouldn’t start and when it did it would rev up out of control and we put a new one in still doing then same thing when we do get it to start
I’ve got an 02 500 with 603 miles on it. Sad a couple years got it running decent but the last 5-10 percent of giving it full throttle it bogs. Any ideas?
Just brought my 500 2001 in for that issue. Mechanic charged me $250 and said he did carb adjustment and cleani g. He said the carb is really sensitive for bad fuel or old fuel. Always use marine stabil he said
I have a 2006 sportsman 500 ho. I have to turn the idle screw up very high when cold starting, and then once started I immediately have to turn it back down bc the RPMs are two high (2,500 rpm). When I turn it down I get it to 1500 rpm, and then let it warm up. As it warms up the rpm’s slowly creep higher and higher, so I have to turn it down some more. I hate having to do this procedure on every cold start, how can I FIX?
It could be an issue with the throttle cable sticking. I've had to replace a couple for that reason. Also the choke cable. Or you could have air coming in somewhere. Carb boot, vacuum lines, air box. I would try the throttle cable first. Cheap and easy fix. Then go from there.
I was having the same problem before I went deep and did a piston, rings, cam and tensioner. The timing was off due to a loose chain tensioner. Thing runs great now. Btw, I followed one of your videos on how to time it. Thanks for helping us keep our old machines chugging along. 👍
Hey do you have a contact email I can get to send you some pictures and ask you some questions on my Sportsman? I have a 2002 and a 2004. And am having some issues with the 2004 carb. Otherwise it would be a super long posting lol..
Excellent video. I wish every TH-camr would get to the point the way you did. You nailed it. It's running smooth now.
Thanks.

I'm gonna do that now.
My fuel isn't pumping in thru the fuel line. Nothing from the pump

hey i have a question i heard like a nocking come from ur engine and mine does that to is it just a polaris thing
i have a 2001 sportsman 500 ho
I have same sound what is it and how to fix ?
Your videos are very helpful. Thank you
wow dude loosening my throttle cable and choke made it run thanks for the heads up!
Glad I could help. Sometimes it's the simple thing we need to look for.

You mean the air fuel mixture screw? 2 and a half out depending on your altitude where you live. I do 2 and a quarter

I think it's for a vent line. Not positive
Nice man ! Ran perfect!

What year? If it has an ECM its probably and 05 and up. Unless its a scrambler.

My aftermarket carb didnt last a month. Original is the only way
I always replace the fuel lines and filter as you are just asking to flush a bunch of debris right into your new carb
That's a good point I should have brought up. I do that as well. I wanted to make this video short.
What is the size diameter of the fuel lines? I want to install all new lines.

I would check the camshaft. I just posted a video on it.

Hi what would cause the headpipe on 2018 570efi glowing red?
Its running rich. It makes the pipe hot. Or is the pipe aftermarket?
I have a polaris trail boss 330 2005 model, and it won't start I confirmed there is spark

Why does it blow feul out of the carberator
When the timing was off it was blowing out the intake instead of the exhaust. Wrong valves opening at the compression stroke.
I was having the same problem before I went deep and did a piston, rings, cam and tensioner. The timing was off due to a loose chain tensioner. Thing runs great now. Btw, I followed one of your videos on how to time it. Thanks for helping us keep our old machines chugging along. 👍
