    Magnus should definitely try the Fried Liver Attack, and try to get Nepo out of preparation.
    If anyone from his Magnus' team is reading the comments, hit me up - I've got a novelty that I used to take down some 1700 ELO pizzas in blitz - guaranteed win.

    Can someone explain to me the reasoning behind allowing rapid chess to potentially determine a classical world chess title. If after 14 games they're tied at 7-7 Magnus retains his title. It's up to Ian to beat Magnus. Kasparov was trailing Karpov 11-12. Karpov only needed a draw to win the title. Kasparov won game 24, tied it at 12-12 and retained his title. No rapid games needed!!! Please don't say it's to determine money...really???

    • @ericzhu6620
      @ericzhu6620 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      the problem is that this is unfair for the challenger, tieing the match doesn't mean the reigning world champion is better than the challenger, then why could the reigning world champion remains his title? We are all trying to improve the rules but sadly since chess is a special game with the first-mover always having advantage, we can never have a simple and fair tie-break at the same time

    • @jbdenning

      In no other game does “I won last time against someone else” change the outcome this time.

    • @outerdimension7276
      @outerdimension7276 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The reasoning is there's too many whiners, the same kind of people who are already complaining about this match after 3 draws. Don't worry, there's higher chance it will become dumber rather than more pure.

    • @divided_and_conquered1854
      @divided_and_conquered1854 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm ONE THOUSAND PERCENT with you. (@W Chambers) THIS IS LONG FORMAT CHESS, NOT BLITZ! There's no place for this in a world championship. It's always been set up so that time IS NOT a factor.
      Lasker and Steinitz didn't have to deal with this. WHY? WHY WHY? I'm almost certain the reason is of a pecuniary nature.

    • @123duelist
      @123duelist 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ericzhu6620 It's simple. It's because the onus is on the challenger to prove he is better than the World Champion and the onus is not on the World Champion to prove he is better than the challenger, since the World Champion beat the last Candidates tournament winner...It is kind of like the U.S. justice system. The onus is always on the Prosecutor to prove a case, since he's the one who makes the claim. Winning the candidates is sort of like making a claim that the challenger can beat the Champion. The onus is on him to prove it. If Ian wins, he will have the advantage on the next World Championship and the candidates winner will have the same disadvantage.

    I love chess in every direction. The analysis here is great too. But what's with these competitors constantly abandoning their seats? At some times both players are missing! It's a little ridiculous. The match might as well be played remotely via zoom.

    Seems odd that both players leave the board for such long periods of time. Magnus plays against an empty seat for nearly 20 minutes near the opening! Very anti-climatic, this getting sweaty in the stare of a swivel office chair.

    • @aerialkiller5948
      @aerialkiller5948 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@florinstoica5357 It's not that simple. Chess at the highest level now, backed by engines like Stockfish, is almost always going to be a draw with "perfect" or "correct" play. Look at the engine evaluation at the beginning of the game, it's basically 0 (equal). It doesn't matter that Magnus is the consensus best player in the world right now, I'd estimate that there's at the very least 10-15 top players in the world that can consistently hold him to a draw on demand. Wins only occur when a player blunders, which at this level is extremely rare and also hard to take advantage of. It's not like Ian is going to randomly hang a knight or blunder checkmate.
