      That is the best plug to get audible...Cause he was one of the reasons why I loved "Parks and Rec." and his wife is one of my favorite female comedic actresses. And he has the audacity to be a smart man too.

    ten minutes into this, I ordered his book. I'm an amateur woodworker and as soon as I hear them say that it involves mistakes... I'm in. I love learning about mistakes.

    my ex-missus used to love it when i'd work on her car, then come in, wash up, and start sewing (gotta get a sewing machine again -- got stolen out of a garage at a new place i just moved into 8 / Bought for me by my mum ..loved the bloody thing ..facilitated more making potential ; )

    I didn't know he thought this way. That's always been my philosophy. I'm a woodworker, blacksmith, spoon carver, tanner, and right now I am had sewing a wool capote. Making stuff and fixing everything is how I was raised. I don't know any other way to live.

    I live in Champaign! Woo! One of my best friends does wood work out of his garage that would make Mr. Offerman proud. I keep hoping that I'll be able to get a random invite to him to come by and have a whisky with us next time he's in town. I know it will likely never happen, but a man can dream.

Both for the reason that I want to expand and dive into my interest in woodworking, but also because I greatly agree with quite a bit of what you had to say.

    I went to the Offerman Wood Shop site, and on the "Who We Are" list there is a Krys listed. On their profile gender pronouns aren't used at all in the description. In case anybody was wondering about that, I think that's a reasonable way to handle it.

    I am confused. He said he grew up a farmer, and how much/hard they had to work. Yet his dad was a teacher (summers off) and his mom was a nurse (generally a higher paying job). I am missing the struggle as a Midwestern white middle class male.

      Henry Webster teachers in the Midwest typically work from 10 to 14 hours a day. Farmers in the Midwest typically work from 12 to 16 hours a day. So your teachers that are "farmers" work 22 to 30 hour days?

    I cant really put my finger on why but I have an deep hatred for the interviewer. maybe its how he tries to ask questions in a way that makes him sound more manly than a scrawny programmer or maybe its his gay shoes with ankle socks or how he tried to dress just like how he thought ron would but ended up looking like gay hipster caricature of ron
