Amazing! I'm certain this video will remain one of the most useful and comprehensive videos regarding SNES music on this platform forever, I learned so much here... Thanks so much for referencing my video in your description! ❤
That explanation of Pitch Modulation using the Link and Kirby sprites was such a brilliant, and clear visual analogy for FM synthesis! Great, in-depth tutorial.
2:11 When I first heard 'Fear of the Heavens' come out of my SNES all those years ago when I was 16 (back in 1994), my jaw hit the floor. I couldn't believe that was coming out of my Super Nintendo. The same happened with the intro credit music from Final Fantasy 6 as the MagiTek armors were approaching Narshe.
love what you're doing with this series so far!!!!!!!!! I would really like to see a video on stylistic choices while creating chiptunes [both arranging and composition wise]. I think it would be helpful for people coming into chiptune that already have experience composing and arranging, covering topics like instrumentation, artistically accommodating for polyphony limits, mimicking certain games' osts, and other things of the like thank you mr button masher
Hey, I loved your video! I'm a huge fan of soundfonts, as apparent in my name. Those wanting to make SNES music are uniquely fortunate in that the hardware has been modeled and emulated into all of these fantastic softwares. This isn't true of all platforms! For many platforms, we're still using Soundfonts as they're the most accessible option. The samples ripped from the era of N64, PSX, and Dreamcast just to name a few. Chipsynth SFC is one of my favorite plugins yet made for SNES style chiptunes and I'm really glad you've given it some much deserved screen time. I can't wait to see what's next from you!
I’m trying to learn furnace as a beginner tracker user, I appreciate the work you’ve put into all this-I’ve been making electronic music / recording since I was in 7th grade and I’m 34 now , but I’ve never used a tracker before , there’s so much to cover, my only criticism of this tutorial is that sometimes you’ll say what to do to get a certain result out of a sound but not how to do it, it’s easy to miss little things like that so I get it, but like the macro assigning for noise channel adding to a sound , not really sure how to do that , just that I need to do it to get a certain result , and I see where to go to assign it. Does that make sense ? I can hardly describe my point so I’m not trying to give you sh@@ about it lol, still though thanks for all this content it’s a good start and you’re the only person truly covering furnace which is crazy cause it’s a great program
This really is remarkable. You speak with such clarity, and you clearly understand the importance of timing and when to let the viewer take 2 seconds to soak up what's on the screen. On top of that, your graphics and highlighting of specific areas is very helpful to visual-minded nutcases like me. I'm excited to get started with this new hobby, thank you for the excellent first dip in the waters.
lets GO!!!!! ive used furnace for awhile now, but i barely knew about the echo, and i knew nothing about the noise and modulator feature (or even the fact it existed on) the SNES, so thanks! :) peak underrated channel

This warms my heart. Thank you. Chipsynth sfc is an amazing tool but please watch the other chapters! The other tools offer some really compelling features as well!
Awesome! I ordered a Super Midi Pak and a Super Nintendo because I recently got a CRT TV anyway for my nostalgic needs. I love the idea of working with my DAW to create chiptunes. Thanks for this superb tutorial!

It's pretty overwhelming, but I feel like I could eventually "get it" if I try it enough. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, looking forward to more!

There are bits and pieces of it online, but I have yet to find the entire OST. Would be really nice to look at the entire Midi score and play certain elements of it back while muting others. Thanks for the video.

Do you have any way of knowing what to set all the knobs and stuff to on C700? Apparently that's important to make the instruments sound authentic. Simply putting a MIDI through a soundfont doesn't get quite the same audio. -Yo'ster
I dont really understand your question. Your best bet is to get your samples from the sources that ive cited and follow the exact steps ive laid out here. If you do this you shouldnt have a problem. You may need to adjust the adsr envelopes for individual samples in order to more closely get the sound your going for.
@@_buttonmasher That's pretty much what I was wondering. I just had some SMW samples from somewhere else and a they didn't come with presets for loop points or adsr or anything for C700 so many of them were silent or off-key. -Yo'ster

How would connecting a console to the audio interface device work when the console is the Analouge Super NT which has HDMI instead of the RCA cables a SNES has?
@@superbulletwill i dont understand the question but if you follow the instructions as outlined in the super midi pak chapter of this video i can 100 percent promise you that it works and i have over 50 recordings to prove it.
