      I had the EHX 720 and it was cool but 11 slots filled up fast - plus I can’t recall if it was stereo.
      Line 6 DL4 is easiest for a noob to use but you can’t save even a single loop.
      Aeros looper is the Cadillac (better than Boomerang) but it’s about $500, so unless you live to loop (or make $ from sessions) it’ll be too pricey.
      Boss loop stations are cool but the actual loop switches tend to be clumsy and can make or break your loops.

      I've recently purchased a Line 6 JM4 looper. Had to find a used one because they're out of production now. The drum sounds are excellent and the main reason why I chose this looper. They're samples of some top session drummers playing their favourite rhythms.
      It has a LOT of other functions which I won't be using much...but they're there should I ever need them. Cheers.

    I have purchased several looper pedals over the years, but this has to be my favorite. So easy to use and sounds great. I've posted some ambient guitar videos, and most have a looper, the Flamma FS21. Dependable and durable. I would never sell it.

    Hi Derek, I'm definitely impressed by the Flamma, (and the demo as always), plenty of scope for practicing and at a sub $130 mark, I reckon it's decent value too. One of my old bands actually started with two guitarists, a bass player and a Boss drum machine which filled the gap to get us started, as we were all pretty much novices. We eventually took a drummer on and if it wasn't for the fact that the Boss couldn't buy a round after practice, we'd have kept it on!. The FS21 is just streets above the Boss and having a decent looper seals the deal for me.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Gareth, its an impressive thing! i was the same back in the day, we had no drummer so i ran the drums from a Korg workstation and a yamaha RY10, this thing has stayed on my board since i got it :) wish i had something like this back then, would've made life so much easier! cheers!

The Donner at $108 US is $20 less than the Flamma but I had a 20% off coupon for the Donner so I got it for $87 US. • @alexfilmwriting
    @alexfilmwriting 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Because it's also a drum machine (and has a sense of timing), is it more forgiving with your stop-record button press than a regular 'raw' looper? Like, does it round to the nearest down beat when you press the stop-record switch? Trying to figure out how it behaves if you're late or early with your loop end.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alex, it does have a fade out option on the drums which i use (find that very handy) if that helps?

    • @alexfilmwriting
      @alexfilmwriting 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@DerekPaulGuitar No more like this: I tap to start recording with the drums on. Then I play a measure and tap again to stop recording, but I do so slightly early, like a half beat. Does my loop start to play, but out-of-sync with the drums, or does the machine 'gap' that beat and then start the loop to keep it in timing? Basically how do the drums affect the looping behavior if I'm early or late with my button clicks.

    • @DerekPaulGuitar
      @DerekPaulGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @anybody2501
      @anybody2501 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The answer to your question is basically "yes."
      The looper auto edits to the nearest measure for seamless looping when using the drum machine parallel with the looper. It works very well.

    Digitech Trio adds a bass line and drum breaks, automatically pics up your rhythm and chords, so sounds better, but make sure you get the version with the looper, unless you already own a looper, in which case the looperless one works just fine. The Digitech also allows you to create separate song parts and jump between them. Just a better pedal all round.
