- One of the biggest passion projects I have ever worked on! It wasn't an easy journey, but thanks to the amazing team that helped turned my vision into reality and the support we had from Sirui, we were able to make this short film! It is definitely quite an abstract story with a weird way of stitching different scenarios together, but that's exactly why I love it - it's different, abstract and best of all - it's made from heart!

I asked the same question, but no reply, seems to me that for the rec 709 conversion I asume it was the Phantom Luts, without the WDR pre-lut, and after something based on the kodak 2383, did you find out what it was?

The Voice Over is mysterious.
My opinion is (though I'm not a pro) maybe the soundtrack volume should have been a bit lower while the VO was playing. Please note that this is only my thoughts 😉

How have you solved the problem that Sony doesn’t have a disqueeze mode for anamorphic?
Have you used an external Monitor?
Or have you used the clear image zoom?
Or have you just edited in post (the crop)

The wobbly distortion at 2:05, was that just done with the Anamorphic lens or how was it done?
that was done in post, overlaying the footage and stretching the RGB channels. There's presets for that online, or manually via YTB tutorial. You can even add key framed warp and distortion or a vertigo to sell the effect even more. The vertigo you'd capture in camera. Pretty sure the he spent all of his time nailing the colours so there wasn't a lot of time for these kind of effects.

Goosebumps! Huge respect for the whole team! Inspiring level over the roof. The audio locks you in and wont let go until the end, every shot so beautiful that makes you almost cry. Thank you for sharing! Have to ask, what kind of a budget are talking here with this kind of production?
I spent around 3.5k euros on this - the handheld rig was around 1k, the make-up was a lot as well, but worth every penny. And then the actress, BTS shooter / photographer, all the props were around 800Eur. I guess it could even be around 4k 😄 if this was planned months beforehand, maybe we could have spent less on this production, but since everything was happening last minute and I needed the props and costumes fast, had to pay a bit extra

Appreciate you replying, really nice insights. Your channel is one of my favorite source of inspiration in YT, really refreshing see this kind of well curated art instead of i guess algorithm pleasing stuff.
@@JouniJuhani oh with weddings I can only imagine the pile of unexpected expenses that come your way. Thank you for the kind words, I really, really appreciate that! For sure, we don’t really follow the algorhythms anymore because making reviews and all of that gear related stuff is quite boring. We will only make reviews or those kind of videos if the tool we use is something that shocks ourselves and we want to share it with people, for example, these sirui anamorphic lenses. I just wanna make dope shit that I am proud of myself and share it with you guys to enjoy, that’s the best way to progress in this field, at least in my opinion

Actually, it was your video (the look book) that inspired me finally to get sirui anamorphic 35mm for my Canon Eos M6 mark ii (not full frame). It's an entry level camera and the lense was quite expensive for a semi beginner / amateur but oh boy i have had fun with the lens already and just starting my journey with it. So thanks for the tip. And because i got your attention (commented earlier the video) now I must also say that The Silence intro is almost Nolan level masterpiece, dark knight vibes, absolutely love it!

Hi, Harvey! Sirui helped us out on this project a lot, actually. They sent us the lenses and sponsored a part of the production, but it still took a lot of my own finances to make this happen! :) We are beginning to invest more into our own projects and our goal is not to earn money from them, but to further develop our skills as filmmakers and learn new techniques to always be trying something new and exciting! I also have a team of amazing people that help us out a lot in the name of art and I am forever grateful to having them :)

i must say ...you changed my min about sirui ... but theres one big question . how did you manage to controll that harsh flaring of these lenses
With the new Sirui full frame lenses the flaring is very minimalistic. I never once had a shot where I thought to myself: “There’s too much flaring”, so you won’t have to worry about that being the issue anymore 😊

Do you use Sony IBIS or prefer to turn if off?
We pretty much always use the IBIS however since now we have rigged out our cameras, making them more heavy, we will start to experiment with turning the IBIS off

It was shot in Slog3 on my Sony A7S3 and used ninja v to record in prores. Some shots, especially in the Forest scene are 4k100p in the HS codec though 😊

Beautiful bravo, shame for the voice over, needed a deeper grunt. Remake it with a deeper voice over it will change everything. Its worth it!
