I paid a company a lot of money to lay down a carpet on a rental property and they did not do a good job: I'm thinking of trying it myself next time - and looking at this excellent video and how you do it is giving me the confidence to try it. P.S. actually I'm going to do my own stairs after watching this :D
Amazing Job and great video. I'm looking at fitting a runner on my stairs unfortunately the runner I like only comes at a length of 140cm. So I would need to attach 4and half up my stairs. The rug has a small boarder on either end I would need to cut off. Can I attach two ends that have been cut and if so where is the best place on yhe stairs to join them? Or will that look terrible? Thanks
What kind of runner and from where?/ Direct Carpet has full length whatever you need / directcarpet.com as far as your question best place to hide the joint is at the base of wash stair where the riser meets the tread!
Amazing work! My stair looks like this ( straight, curved, and straight) and we bought a runner that has borders designed. I didn't know what to do. Your channel is very helpful. Thank you!
hi Keith , so beautiful , i need a little help to know what we do with stairs like this but with a carpet , floral and design on it ?? can we do the same thing? Thanks Rachel
How do you measure how much carpet you need? ive been wanting to do the stairs that have a bend and the landing upstairs for the longest time, I wanna do it for my mum but I don't have enough money to hire someone to do it, so thought if I did it that would be the cheapest option! Any advice on how to do this on a budget would be great too, great video!
Hey Erica can you elaborate on how many stairs and how many landings... if you could post a picture of those stairs that would be even better! and then i could do you a great video :)
Hi thanks for posting, this looks pretty easy, but I am curious what the longer metal tool is? It looks like it's weighted to push the carpet towards the back of the stair, what is this called? Also! was there a reason you didn't put padding under certain steps on the curve and then under others? Lastly, were you the DJ as well for the entire film? that was tricky.
the Long Tool I believe is the kicker! and sometimes i fit the angled stairs without pad, then add the pad after the stair is inline with the next, and yes i usually am the one talking! thanks for the question!

Awesome...
How do you go about following the curve and making it look good? how do you know where to cut? do you just match up the lines while turning the piece?
Miguel A Barajas For those stairs that turn like that I have to make a template those are very very difficult stairs
Thank you

@@KeithShannonDirectCarpet that’s what I was wondering, have a 30” oriental with a 3” border and assume its iron time..?
@@anthonyshea5181 sounds like it😄
Hey. Do you use a staple gun or a brad-nailer? I’m looking to do an inexpensive runner on my basement stairs.
Gillian M I use an electric gun by the name duofast. You can rent at most rental places that’s your cheapest option👍
What staple tool is this? Do you have to buy or can you rent one?
Its a duo-fast and yes you can rent them :)
