IKEA HACK, How I turned Ikea rugs into a stair runner! using €17 SÖLLINGE rugs.

- A quick and easy way to create a beautiful, custom-looking runner for your stairs is by using Ikea rugs! I will show you how I used the Ikea SÖLLINGE rugs and hacked them into a stair runner. I got my inspiration from Alexandra Gater's DIY stair runner and the Sorry Girls stair makeover.

My old carpet had become worn and picked by my cat, and the old wool carpet didn't stand the test of time. This Ikea hack saved me some money but is also suitable for my home and the traffic my stairs gets.
This hack will work with any Ikea rug but the one I used was the affordable SÖLLINGE. You can find more information on this product on your local Ikea website.

My cat hasn't scratched up my beautiful wool Berber carpet, my dogs did that before she arrived. I have scratch posts of all sizes and heights and she uses them but she has annihilated the tops of my raised beds sharpening her claws on the wood.
The rugs are a brilliant idea, it works well on your stairs. I have to agree about the Sollange beige rugs on the Ikea site, they do have a pinky tone to them.
So clever! I’m going to do this! I tore the carpet off my stairs because my dogs kept throwing up there.🤦🏾♀️ It’s their favorite vomit spot.😝

Stairs look great and I love the small area rug at the top of the stairs and placement of your Mirror, real nice. I have the same carpet but large one from Ikea and I love it. It’s indoor outdoor, so wash if anything drops with a sponge. And has worn well for me. Like the new painted floor too and steps. Perfect.

The steps and the mirror look great. You did a lot of work there. I tore the carpet out of s small hallway a few years ago. The miserable part was taking the hundreds of tacks and staples out. Blondie is so funny.
Catherine, I see you as a younger version of me. I have my own house too, and done my stairs with runner too. I just get on with decor like you do. And I have my power tools. I rarely hire a decorator. 😀

Great job on the stairs when I am back home from Ireland I will check this out an see about fixing up the stairs at my brothers house. If I can make a suggestion take some of the 1/2" round that you put at the beginning of the stairs (in the entrance way) and frame the baseboard on your top landing with it. This way you will get a more finished look. All in all you did a great job with the house. Makes me envious of not purchasing a house when I wanted to know they tell me I am too old for one, so I am renting an apartment in Ireland. I am truly enjoying been back home still getting use to the weather changes but otherwise great. Keep these great videos coming I know we all truly enjoy them. Thanks you

I love the changes you made to the stairs and the landing (top area). The ladder is cute up there. You could put a blanket over the top rung to hang as a decoration or as an extra blanket to use. Very cute!!! 👍🏻😉
