I just think Nigerian aboard we put pressure on ourselves wanting to live big and taking all the hours that will be allowed by law to work.12 /14 hours is the basic shift hours for nursing /social care and I see nursing and health care workers doing overtime and working 7 days a week neglecting themselves and family.

They have too many bills. Nursing pay is not as high as they make it sound. It is the overtime that makes them make money. The average pay for nursing is 80k. It doesn’t make you live a big life, with all the bills and paying for the nursing school.

This is a hardcore truth that some men do not cherish.
Adaptation and humility is the key to survival abroad.
    Nigerian mentality is very drowning.
Immature ego and Nigerian ostentatious life style is a No, No abroad.
High expectations of generating fund for nothing.
That’s why lots of people go into illicit professions.
However responsible and well meaning Nigerians with very disciplined background do well.
Achievement abroad is individualised based on ethical and moral upbringing.
I remember in Israel the doctors I worked with respected their encounter with Nigerian scholars that studied with them.
However that era is gone now, when most Nigerians believe, that money is every thing.
Which is why life is different nowadays.

Alright let me break it down for y'all. I agree with y'all that there is no money in nursing but what y'all are no seeing are other reasons some pple do nursing.
    1) Flexibility: nursing in the US is like artisan job because u can set a target and meet it. U dont have to do overtime, it a choice for u. A lot of pple here condemning nurses for overtime are doing so because their profession is not offering incentive/and flexibility to earn good overtime.
    2) Passion: some pple just like nursing because of their love for helping others
    3) Entrepreneurial opportunities: A lot of us chose nursing with end game of owning our own nursing business which can be a) Nursing agency 2) Elderly Home 3) Nursing Home...and many more.
    4) Opportunities: Opportunities plenty...different kind of nursing, ladder to climb and become NP, opportunity to start ur own practice...and many more.
Im a nurse and its one of the best decision I ever made.

Nursing job is by nature stressful. They get paid well and is so much in demand in US. The African nurses work very hard save their money and build houses both in Naija and maintain US life style. Yes in some case I repeat some cases it creates the ground for divorce because little time spent with family at times, some couples may not be able to balance out. It's based on individual couples. But their hard work pays off and they have successful in their career. Also in other careers like IT is controlled mainly by Asian Indians but Nurses are saturated more with Africans mostly.

Life is about what you make it. As a nurse anesthesiologist with 28years experience, income is well above $250,000.00.
The MRI tech making $35000.00 in NY from two jobs and some overtime said 85% of nurses are divorced. I don’t agree with that statistics. The nurse in the panel said it all. A man must upgrade himself to be the head of the household. Economic empowerment changes people significantly. Sometimes for good and sometimes very bad but everything has to do with the foundation of individuals, their belief system. The way I see it, we as foreigners have the best because we can blend the good of our original country and the good of our present country to our benefit but you must understand it first.

Don't come and settle for carer jobs, if you can upgrade yourself. Blessings

Registered Nurses with a Bachelors in Nursing start at 100 thousand plus added benefits and guaranteed yearly experience pay, plus whatever your union negotiated as your yearly raise. CORRECTION: a nurse practitioner is NOT equivalent to being a doctor. The training to become a licensed physician in North America is no small feat and should NOT be compared to NP roles. Both are solid roles but the rigorous training of a physician is way more than that of an NP.

Most married African women were like that until cases of side checks surfaced. Wife will be financing broke hubby while he uses funds dey finance slay queen somewhere. The new thing now is security..... I miss the marriage of our parents, an era when you could trust a man with everything you had and go to sleep. African women are hard working let's face it and leaving a man is not just in our DNA.

I don't blame people who say Nigeria is a jungle. A lot of Nigerian men are so savage both in Nigeria and abroad. It will take a long time for them to understand how to treat Nigerian women which they'll never try with white women or African Americans. Daddy Freeze, if you live abroad, you for don go jail tire for abusing your wife's right. I can't remember if it was the ex-governor of New York who faced criticism and later impeachment for allegedlly abusing his female staff at work and dismissing a claim by one of them who told him she had cramps. A lot of Nigerian many got a long way to go

Do I still have to pay UK tax if I live abroad?
You can live abroad and still be a UK resident for tax, for example if you visit the UK for more than 183 days in a tax year. Pay tax on your income and profits from selling assets (such as shares) in the normal way. You usually have to pay tax on your income from outside the UK as well.

Sorry, I’ve been an RN for many years with advanced degrees. Never worked more than 8 hours. Let’s say it, some folks are just greedy and push 12-16hrs. How can that person give quality care? Some really like the profession, and are professional from day one, some are not and just make a joke of it , not giving quality care. This guy is telling his story. Any rent in NY that is $2000 a month, that’s mortgage money. Sorry ooo. Does he only have a Diploma Degree or only Associate degree. Oh, he is an LPN? I’m talking here about going straight to college for an RN degree from high school, then to Bachelors then Masters and beyond. Many nurses came to the USA from the Caribbean and England. I Never needed to nor did my friends do overtime. Perhaps it’s normal for some. This is a Nigerian thing? Sorry ooo, leaving your wife behind then come? So, what about him being unfaithful??? Oh please!

Surgical nurses are in demand with BSN degrees, experienced. Money is made in well known Hospitals, who have accreditation, are teaching hospitals that become corporations and demand furthering education and skills.Skills must be upgraded ongoing. Not all training is the same. Nursing homes CANNOT be compared to accredited TEACHING HOSPITALS, that pay for the education the nurses have. Some hospitals do not hire LPNs. I know of what I’m saying. I lived in NY, then Long Island for years. Quality of care is Paramount!Quality and Standards of the Facility are also Paramount!

@WorldData_0 nurse practitioners are advanced practising nurses with higher qualifications, experience and therefore scope of practice. They are not normal bedside nurses but basically work with physiciais to diagnose and even prescribe medications whereas other nurses are not able or allowed to do this. The requirements for this are a few years experience as a registered nurse, then you'll need a masters degree specific for being a nurse practitioner, then some years of clinical placement experience as a student nurse practitioner where you will work with a doctor and learn how to diagnose and prescribe. After all these, you'll become a nurse practitioner.

Do I need to pay UK tax when in Dubai? The UK and Dubai have a double-taxation agreement which means you won't have to pay UK tax whilst working in Dubai. You can voluntarily make National Insurance Contributions if you plan on returning to the UK for retirement. This will contribute to your state pension entitlement.2 Apr 2024
