    Can I add a dash finish to a painted stucco wall? Or do I need to apply a bonding agent then apply the dash finish? Thank you sir

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can throw or blow on a dash finish to any painted wall, but the wall must be cleaned well and a bonding agent such as Larsons, Weld-Crete or Quikrete applied to the walls surface with a brush or roller, Never add a bonding agent in a mix.

      The right way is to have it sandblasted if you don't have a lot of money, then you glue it

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sandblasting has been illegal for close to 35 years for excellent reasons. Too many to mention here.

    • @jasonsnider8749

      Rather legal or illegal it's truly the only way to get all paint or synthetic man made debris off of the wall therefore ensuring the best possible natural bond. Faith in an exterior bonding agent is not 100% faith in a natural bond is the best you can do to achieve this,like it or not that's the real deal.

    Greetings from the east coast Kirk. Thanks to your videos, and with the help of my 12 year old daughter, I was able to put a coat of stucco on our foundation. 🍻 to ya sir!! Bringing families together through plastering!!

      All stucco and caulking has to set before painting, we do our job, then the homeowners paint.

    I just looked on my first house I bought this spring and sure enough, there's the crack! Already had some Mor-Flexx on order to fix all the screw holes, now I've got another use for it.

    Then apply mor-flexx

    Kirk you mention not being able to work sikaflex have you heard of or tried a little 409? Yes the bathroom cleaner. I watched a carpenter caulking an expansion joint between garage and driveway and he would spray a little 409 on the sikaflex to work it as he states you should not use self leveling its not as good but the good stuff it just sticks to everything but a little 409 and it wont stick to your finger/trowel etc. What do you think?

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Howdy Mike, it just might work, I haven't tried it. I was caulking my own windows yesterday trying to beat the rain and simply placed a fine bead around the windows. It came out perfect without having to use my finger, just the right angle cut at the tip and a consistent amount of pressure on the caulking gun. 🕵🏼

    Kirk I would love to know your opinion on all these "dry pour" concrete videos that are popping up on TH-cam. People just dumping bags of Quikrete on the ground, smoothing it and then spraying it with water? 6 millions of views on one video and everyone seems to be loving it.

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Howdy Billy, views are not what makes cements or stucco set properly, they must be mixed with proper amounts of sand or aggregates to have the desired strength. Folks who do not mix properly will have a weaker concrete. When concrete or stucco is set one should be barely able to scratch it with a nail.👨🏻‍🔬

    Hopefully you answer questions. I'm in the middle of grinding rough stucco off my building. Can I caulk the large cracks after I'm done grinding it smooth and then reapply stucco? I'm going with a smoother finish. It's original block walls commercial building. I'm not grinding it to the block. Only making it flat so I can reapply stucco much more smooth.

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sure you can, however, you will need to pressure wash that dust off, I prefer the method in this video personally. th-cam.com/video/M-5yPXuIuJk/w-d-xo.html/

    Nobody says; "Concrete" better!
    Stay Cool out there Brother. Been hanging 5/8ths 4×8 concrete base boards. Then mesh and mud joints then mud wall, then spray brick templates and apply "brick Red" finish. Let dry then take black spray paint and color odd "bricks" to mimic real brick.
    Strong flat shield up to ten feet high on commercial buildings.
    Anyway Brother, Live long and...Plasteeer!
