- I was watching this guy crawling with his brand new Tacoma TRD. This is an exact example of what happens when you mix rock crawling with a little bit of alcohol.

1) don't starve the engine of oil
2) KEEP YOUR ARMS IN THE VEHICLE.
3)Get a better spotter
I guess that's what they mean by you can't polish a TRD.
Polish a turd
Smoking like that is pretty common when you spend any significant time at the steep angles you often encounter on some of the Moab trails. It generally burns off and doesn't cause any issues once you get more level. It can however on occasion mess up the emissions system. It you tip over or otherwise end up way off camber for any length of time, shut it down and ensure you aren't hydrolocked prior to starting it back up. Of course you also want to make sure you have enough oil left in the crankcase where it belongs

Man these are known for this at extreme angles...as soon as you see white smoke TURN IT OFF. Theres a catch can out there that can help a little.
When we first started off-roading, we learned that our winch was the cheapest part to replace!

No front lockers on this TuRD= a rough time in Moab.
Catch can is probably needed and when it does that smokin it’s time to shut it off and winch. Hope it was ok afterwards. Pull the plugs and kick that oil out. That was a good attempt though

Got a snorkel but nothing else is waterproof.
Get a dirt bike 1 wheel drive would be able to climb that in seconds with out a coach. And save yourself $30,000.00 + the cost of all the repairs to that truck.
When I had my 2019 Tacoma. I was parked on a steep left lean on Imogene. I got a low oil level light. Shut it off and checked and it was fine. There is something with these 3.5’s and not picking up enough oil out of the pan.
Always with the families only mode of transportation….

Rock crawling is a shit show. Money and brains are not required. Everyone wheels something different or custom, and they all expect someone else to actually fix their rig when they f up and break it. I'm tired of working on broken jeeps. Dana 30's suck, so do modern Toyotas.

I had this problem on Imogene. I got the low level, I was parked and shut it off and checked. I actually didn’t know this was a problem with the 3.5’s. I have a 4Runner now with the 4.0.

@@RM-nj5yg Jealousy doesn't look good on you. My gen 2 has over 270,000 miles and my gen 3 has been fine but haven't racked up the miles yet. Any non modified truck would have had problems. The gen 4 now that's a different story and Kias are crap vehicles for cheap people.

Still wonder y guys offroad theese trucks on hard trails. I have a 3rd gen tacoma its my daily driver. I have a 99 cherokee sport on 35s that runs black/red trails at rausch creek and if i drag the body or rolled it down a mountain i have 3000 dollars into it total so idc about it. To me it makes no sense to destroy a 40-60,000$ truck when you could build an old toyota or a jeep cherokee for less than 5k that would be 5xs more capable than a newer tacoma with 5000$ into the suspension and 2000$ into tires and rims. Keep the tacoma for a nice daily/light trail use imo. If you got money to throw away I guess who cares but money wise dollar for dollar it makes zero sense to me why ppl do hardcore offroading in these trucks unless its a 100,000 dollar purpose built rock crawler then I could see it if you are rich.
I went to buy parts from a guy and he had a mint 97-01 cherokee on 35s and a 2018 low mileage tacoma trd offroad lifted on 35s and the tacoma was hammered and the cherokee was straight with zero dents im just thinking I think you offroaded the wrong vehicle lol lets put 8-10k into the 45,000 dollar truck then destroy it instead of destroying the 5000$ jeep build lol people never cease to amaze me with the financial decisions they make especially with vehicles.

A stock jeep would have been in the same boat. You have to drop another $15,000 to make a jeep anything but a mall crawler. Jeeps also don't usually make it to 200,000 miles on the original engine, most toyotas do.
