My suspicion: TH-cam can't provide guidance because they don't understand what's happening either. They've thrown in so many untested changes that the algorithm is tripping over itself, and fixing things would require more investment than they want to make.

It makes me so glad that so many people are coming together and addressing Cory's problems hes been having, and TH-cam's problems in general. Hopefully this website can improve past this crap that shouldn't even be happening in the first place.
I honestly wouldn't count on it. How is TH-cam gonna change when it has a corrupt overload for a boss (Susan) and a corrupt policy team who can do whatever they basically want since they aren't known by many people? I feel like the final years of TH-cam will be here soon if someone doesn't do anything (which most likely won't happen due to this going on for at least a decade).

I'm honestly disappointed in all this, my whole life I wanted to be a TH-cam after being influenced by ryan, Cory, jack and mark. But after seeing their videos about this I'm having severe doubts.😔

That would be cool, but there a bunch of flaws to that.
#1. There would be a very high chance that if the creators of that TH-cam - like, website decided to quit, then it MIGHT be passed on to people like the people that works for youtube.
#2. There would be a slight (but still pow) chance that TH-cam would try to sue the app for "stealing their idea."
These are just theories of what kind of flaws would come out of making an app like youtube. I don't know if theses will actually happen, but if it does, it would prove that TH-cam is truly corrupt and doesn't want popular competition.
It makes me so happy that a decent amount of BIG TH-camrs are finally calling TH-cam out. Cory, Jidon, Ryan, Jack, Charlie, YourRage and hopefully Markiplier will make a video about this!!

I have been noticing more and more youtubers, especially the ones that have been on this platform for a while have been taking the time to discuss problems such as this. I think it is important to take time with your audience and talk about things such as this. This is just one of the many problems youtube has at the moment, and I'm sure there will be more. With all that said, I hope channels such as this one continue to thrive.

Even Charlie spoke on this. Glad to see youtubers getting together to deal with the issue the company has. You’d think with your main source of income and attraction (that being the TH-camrs) they’d get more appreciation and care. But no, they decide not to and cause mishaps left and right, even for a man like cory who’s always producing the purest form of content for people of all ages to watch no matter the game.

Yeah it's not the creators responsibility or TH-cams responsibility to protect kids from stuff it's not just a kids platform. But parents are never held responsible for their laziness letting their kids watch anything so everyone else suffers it's fucking shit.
I have seen videos on TH-cam that have nothing related to kids in them or any graphic violent content, but somehow TH-cam age restricted them. There wasn't even any sound in one of the video, but it was still restricted and had no comments allowed. It feels like sometimes it's the algorithm and other times it feels manually done. And the shadow banning system is really horrible. Commenters and creators aren't told when happens or why, so you are left just wondering what you did wrong.

TH-cam intentionally keeps the age restriction rules kinda blank so it’s harder for creators to fight back. It also give TH-cam more power to age restrict for other means.

@@YourBoyfriend I meant the part where they were finally transparent about copyright, like it does sound like once they were transparent it really worked in favour of creators being able to fix issues quickly without any problems.
There are positives about TH-cam, but unfortunately they’re often hidden under the waves of everything wrong with this site but it was refreshing to hear a slightly different tone when discussing its issues instead of “TH-cam is dead because they screwed up again.”

See, when it comes to big companies/platforms doing things like this, they honestly don’t think it will come to light. It’s only a matter of time until we the people from EVERY community, whether online or IRL, come together and put an end to this. I mean without TH-cam creators or us the audience, TH-cam wouldn’t have a platform or any money. Without creators or us, there wouldn’t be anything. Cory made excellent points. Usually TH-cam is quick to take down; age restrict; demonetize; or even take down a channel if it’s going against the platform and that further proves the points Cory stated. Now it’s only a matter of time until TH-cam comes out with a statement to defend their actions but it’s too late. They’re already going downhill. Racism & favoritism has been happening FOR YEARS and now we’ve all had enough. People are coming forward with their own stories about their experiences and I applaud them. The truth need to come out. I'm glad many creators are speaking out about this because not only age restrictions, but blocks, claims, hidden videos, pretty much all lack of guidance. It makes it very hard for creators I have to destroy my videos after creating/editing them for hours just to destroy it just to clear it for unknown reasons...it really does make it easier to quit rather then keep trying

I think Ryan explains the situation well while also bringing his approach in a way that I feel is good. I’m glad people are discussing this issue but I’ve seen some people responses where I’m like I completely agree on this issue but the way they say it comes across different to me. It’s weird for me to describe it but I was glad with Ryan’s approach to it.

I listened to this on the way to school, and I honestly love how every creator is coming together to discuss this issue, and as a fellow content creator, I don't want to face all these problems considering how small my channel is.
As soon as I had finished Jacksepticeyes video on this subject, Ryan's vid went up. I'm glad big youtubers are addressing this problem, they have a large voice and can hopefully help make some changes

I think one of the underlying problems on why youtube refuses to improve on these kind of issues is the lack of competition. They don't seem to care resolving these things at all because they know that at the end of the day, this is still the video hosting platform everyone will turn to.

Also appreciate the guts it takes to actually speak out about what TH-cam is doing wrong, because let’s face it, if they REALLY wanted to, they could just say “this Ryan guy is just stirring stuff up, should we ban him? TH-cam is somewhat similar to Facebooks “Fact checkers”, both of my parents have both been put into Time Out for posting something regular like a photo of me or my siblings or just an announcement. I’m glad Ryan is speaking out about this and bringing the issue forwards.

I understand where Ryan is coming from with the copyright problem some years back along with a lot of creator getting age restricted for no reason
I will watch and engage with as many of these videos as I can. TH-cam should be standing behind it's creators but more often than not they seem to be standing in front as an obstacle.
I'm glad other creators are joining the movement that Cory has address to everyone and it's community

I loved the intro and I’m literally sorry for you like you said at the intro
TH-cam really does have a lot of issues and I feel the frustration. You said you feel anxious about what you upload or something along those lines and I feel that if I ever upload or when I upload I get really nervous about it and it’s because I feel like there is that chance that TH-cam’s algorithm and system could easily find something wrong with my video that I might miss. I understand why a lot of big TH-camrs feel frustrated about it and I don’t blame them.

Yeah we need to do more than talk. We also need to publicly shame and threaten YT where it hurts. But that can be hard to do without dragging everyone else down with em.
There needs to be a strike or protest of some sort, i'm not sure how one would go about it tho
TH-cam needs to stop treating theie platform like its just for kids and of kids watch stuff they shouldn't that's the PARENTS responsibility so why are creators being punished it's so shit.
Not just as Creator, but also as viewer, you notice just how much creators have changed, and how the feeling and atmosphere in videos or TH-cam itself has changed. Sure a lot of changes are essential and you have to go with the time, like younger audience, variety of content or whatever, but by now TH-cam feels just so much more boring in itself, because creators are always worried to "do too much" or "make a mistake". Being around TH-cam since it started growing, I never "cared less" about this platform than now, just because you can feel this stiffness and errors all around.
Sure some creators are going overboard and need regulation, but why make things so hard for everyone, and not even telling those who didn't even made an intentional mistake how to take care of accidental flagging or striking of their channel.
Really nice video about this problem Ryan. Thank you for detailing this problem in a not too complex way.
