Hey buddy .. I have power to this board with 5 volts and boosted to 12 v to power a 12v led light but in like 10 seconds .. the PCB is so HOT .. just wanted to know if yours get hot as well?

use a a battery case they are cheap, even a toys body is better than none. You need a ammeter for LED as they need constant current not constant voltage. Do Not set Vout less then Vin as the chip can burn itself out.

my problem is i need the power to be constant after the buck while the output voltage is being drawn on. the village is dropping back to 5v or even as low as 3v and the device I'm trying to power will not work since it needs to constant draw.

These cheap boost converters aren't very good. The output can vary wildly.
I find it's best to use a boost converter to get up to about 20v, and then a linear regulator back to 12v.
It's more wasteful, but more reliable.

Yes but make sure your batteries are connected to a battery protection bord so that the batteries won't get overcharge or even worst is it's going to explode
