His entire logical perspective in humans was the most literal and showed the genuine flaws to war compared to the usual sappy shit. Also the N jammer reasoning shows more why gundams need to be used. most importantly pit of the other stories, this seems to be the most likely thing to happen once we start enhancing fetal genes before birth
Man this dub is kinda disappointing me. Certain lines that had no reason to be changed got changed. Like at 8:57, in the original Japanese and old dub he says “This is it?” because he’s surprised that the strike is so lightly equipped. Here they replaced it with “here we go!!”. It’s a small change, but it has a subtle effect on the scene. It goes from Kira being in a desperate situation and using poor equipment to defend himself to him being more aggressive and sure of his capability.

The dub had to be remade but it was too difficult or more trouble than it was worth to get the original cast so we got a new one. Most of the lines are still the same anyways, but that change just bugged me.

Before SEED I used to rag on them all the time for DBZ compared to Funimation but now listening to this it makes me cringe like never before to the point of almost making my ears bleed. I couldn't even watch these two episodes here, I just skipped around to hear voices.

In this one, its like hes happy for the damn knife and ready for battle.. It's best to watch the sub version. Funimation knew of the existence of the original dub from Ocean Studios via DVDs that were still out there but didn't ask for any to re-record for the remaster version.
In this redub it's more like Crybaby Yamato!!! Brad Swaile's worst crying moments as Amaro Ray sounded better than the voice Max Mittelman gave Kira in this.
hmm listening to this, most voices I can accept, Kira is the big outlier that I'm not so sure about. the pronunciations or Morgenroete, Murrue and Yamato are awkward so unless the canadians up there got them wrong initially this is gonna be a challenge to watch especially for best captain herself... that isn't Bright Noa, he's too iconic. surprised Natarle's last name was pronounced the same in both dubs
Other than illegally streaming it, there’s not really many other options. If you search up “Gundam SEED dub” here on TH-cam, the first episode of the original dub has been uploaded in two parts, but that’s it. I’d highly recommend checking it out, just to get a sample of how much better the casting was.

Thanks for the upload of another full episode. I loved this show when I first saw it on tv in the early 2000s. I just wish they had the original actors redub it. I thought their voices really fit the characters and their acting was great. I wonder why they didn’t get the original voice actors back? Anime that have returned after many years lately have all had the original voice actors whenever possible. Like Fruits Basket and Yashahime. But my biggest complaint about this dub is that they changed name pronunciations. I wish they didn’t do that.
Funimation cheaped-out and didn't want to pay for the original cast to come back. Ocean Group charges more per hour of dubbing. I miss the old cast and directing too.
The simple answer, they were too cheap and don't know good voice acting if it bet them in the rear. They just wanted to sell it quick and for some of us we just went with it thinking it would be OK because they had a few decent VA's but nope it was terrible. And for some of those comments it wasn't funimation or rightstuf at fault here, funimation is only streaming the redub and rightstuf is only distributing it. The ones at fault are the people who dubbed it at NYAV Post who put no effort into it and Nozomi Entertainment. You can blame rightstuf for the overpriced ultra edition that didn't have half of the extras the Gundam 00 and Wing editions did though. I have found a few sites that had a spliced version of the HD version with the original dub and it was about 90% perfectly synced. So why couldn't they pay a team with technical resources to make it 100% instead of paying for a new voice cast that didn't do anywhere near as good as they did on their characters on Iron-Blooded Orphans. Sadly I will not post any link to said episodes as the powers that be are at work replacing every single version of the original dub with this new garbage resub across most anime streaming sites as I'm sure many have noticed. Also if your gonna pay for voice actors like Johnny Yong Vosh, Yuri Lowenthal, and Michelle Ruff, give them bigger roles than characters who have about 10 minutes or less of dialog through the whole series and die very quickly. Yuri should have been Kira, Johnny should have Athrun, and Michelle should have been Cagalli. Listen to them as Suzaku and Lelouch in Code geass and tell me they don't sound better than these new voices.

After looking at both versions, might be wrong. But I kinda prefer the old animation over the new touch ups. Like yeah it adds more detail and generally looks better but somehow ends up feeling more stiff, while the sd looks a bit rushed but has better motion to it, even with the reused stock.
I agree, they didn’t give it their all on the remaster and it shows. 10:33 is a brand new scene, and if they had redone a significant portion of each episode in that quality it would’ve been incredible. But instead they settled for scaling up the old footage to HD, brightening the colors and doing some overall sharpening, and occasionally throwing in new animation.
The redub is entirely not it’s even when he figures out there are only blades for weapons “here we go” was not the original, “this is it” the emotion the delivery was just so much better uggghhh
I'm sure I could nitpick the specifics if I were bothered, but all in all my biggest gripe with this dub up front is that none of the characters sound distinct from one another. I'm not especially nostalgic for the original dub either, but I can at least give it credit for making sure I knew who was speaking and when just by listening to them. With this dub if I look away or if the characters aren't on screen then I have no clue who's saying what.
Kira and co. should have took off the moment Ramius wasn't looking, with one of them leaving behind a note reading "This is SO not our problem." just to piss her off. We probably wouldn't have a series (Unless Mu became the MC), but I wanna see Ramius throw a shitfit after losing her detainees.
Kira Yamato don't talk similar to Io Fleming from Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt. However, he does sometimes talk like Ryuji from Persona 5, but only when he gets angry or when he yells even during the battle.

I'm absolutely hating this new dub. For the record, I have nothing against the voice actors & actresses themselves. I like their work in other shows they have been involved with. I just feel the casting choices in this dub are completely wrong. They don't fit their characters at all.
I'm so glad you're uploading these. I have such fond memories of watching this on Toonami. I was skeptical about the re-dub, but with you releasing it like this, I think I'll become more acquainted with it.
The deliveries of the lines in this new dub are mostly fine, but hearing the changed pronunciation of names in this new dub is just painful. “Mariu Raymius,” “Lacoose Clyne,” “Deer-ka Elsman” etc. Also even though Lacus had a separate voice for her singing, which was a little jarring in the original dub, at least the singing was actually good. I respect that the new actress tried, but it’s just not at the same level. I could let it slide if that was the only thing they changed, but they also changed the lyrics, and it just doesn’t sound good, and it’s just agony to sit through. Some of the lines are also completely changed from their original meaning. One huge example is Lacus Clyne’s “What is it we should be fighting against? War makes that question very difficult.” This line represents one of the major themes of Gundam Seed: What should people really be fighting against? In the redub, this line became, “If we fight, we need something to fight for,” which is basically like saying, we need a reason to fight, which is not the same meaning at all.
Okay this needs to stop second Matthew Hill voice as kira yamato was way better. Plus Matthew Hill pronounce the names correctly. And I grew up watching Matthew Hill version of kira yamato it's way better when Matthew Hill speaks perfectly.
This is the re-dub for the SEED HD Remaster. There were so many new scenes and recut scenes that they couldn't use the original dub for it, so they got NYAV Post to do a new dub for it.

Yes they remastered it and used Funimations VA's instead of the original Canadian VA's. The only good part about this remaster is hearing the voices of VA's like Johnny Young Bosch, Yuri Lowethal and Liza Ortiz ( glad to hear her again feels like a long time since I heard her).

Sunrise was cheap and wanted to keep everything in the US. Same reason why they couldn't get Kopsa, McNeil or Swaile for the cameos in Unicorn.

After looking at both versions, might be wrong. But I kinda prefer the old animation over the new touch ups. Like yeah it adds more detail and generally looks better but somehow ends up feeling more stiff, while the sd looks a bit rushed but has better motion to it, even with the reused stock.
I agree, they didn’t give it their all on the remaster and it shows. 10:33 is a brand new scene, and if they had redone a significant portion of each episode in that quality it would’ve been incredible. But instead they settled for scaling up the old footage to HD, brightening the colors and doing some overall sharpening, and occasionally throwing in new animation.

The redub is entirely not it’s even when he figures out there are only blades for weapons “here we go” was not the original, “this is it” the emotion the delivery was just so much better uggghhh
I'm sure I could nitpick the specifics if I were bothered, but all in all my biggest gripe with this dub up front is that none of the characters sound distinct from one another. I'm not especially nostalgic for the original dub either, but I can at least give it credit for making sure I knew who was speaking and when just by listening to them. With this dub if I look away or if the characters aren't on screen then I have no clue who's saying what.

Kira and co. should have took off the moment Ramius wasn't looking, with one of them leaving behind a note reading "This is SO not our problem." just to piss her off. We probably wouldn't have a series (Unless Mu became the MC), but I wanna see Ramius throw a shitfit after losing her detainees.

this is my 3rd time re-watching the series
this dub just doesn't do it for me I like the HD and some new scenes but as someone sad below "it's not just the voices, some scenes now lack the emotion they had.. for example... Kira was worried when he saw all they had was a knife.. In this one, its like hes happy for the damn knife and ready for battle.."

Show was reformatted and they needed to change script. Easier to just redub it than edit original audio (probably something to do with licensing) and getting OG VAs is too expensive when cheaper alternative is available.

For the record, I have nothing against the voice actors & actresses themselves. I like their work in other shows they have been involved with.
I just feel the casting choices in this dub are completely wrong. They don't fit their characters at all.

SEED & SEED Destiny been in dub since 2003 this dub is so trash compared to the early 2000’s dub actors
The deliveries of the lines in this new dub are mostly fine, but hearing the changed pronunciation of names in this new dub is just painful. “Mariu Raymius,” “Lacoose Clyne,” “Deer-ka Elsman” etc.
Also even though Lacus had a separate voice for her singing, which was a little jarring in the original dub, at least the singing was actually good. I respect that the new actress tried, but it’s just not at the same level. I could let it slide if that was the only thing they changed, but they also changed the lyrics, and it just doesn’t sound good, and it’s just agony to sit through.
Some of the lines are also completely changed from their original meaning. One huge example is Lacus Clyne’s “What is it we should be fighting against? War makes that question very difficult.” This line represents one of the major themes of Gundam Seed: What should people really be fighting against? In the redub, this line became, “If we fight, we need something to fight for,” which is basically like saying, we need a reason to fight, which is not the same meaning at all.

Okay this needs to stop second Matthew Hill voice as kira yamato was way better. Plus Matthew Hill pronounce the names correctly. And I grew up watching Matthew Hill version of kira yamato it's way better when Matthew Hill speaks perfectly.

This is the re-dub for the SEED HD Remaster. There were so many new scenes and recut scenes that they couldn't use the original dub for it, so they got NYAV Post to do a new dub for it.
@@ashurablaze7545 actually they could. They just cheaped out fans already. Made a port of the remaster with the bandai dubs a few yrs ago and the quality is the same. Rightstuf and funi. Take. Notes. Dont be cheap you will have fans not happy

I have also found the spliced HD versions with the original dub that were 90% perfectly synced which just irritated me that they didn't spend the time and money from redubbing it to instead sync it to a full 100%

Gahhh I like this dub but dear god Le Creuset is wayyyy too wordy, his sentences are so long, surely they could have found another way to match flaps. That said nice to see these slowly going up, it’d be cool to see others reactions to the whole show

Sadly the new Dub VA just sucks they dont fit the series at all as does the changing of the sentences I think. I'll stick with the bandai fanmade remaster port released a few yrs back

Yes they remastered it and used Funimations VA's instead of the original Canadian VA's. The only good part about this remaster is hearing the voices of VA's like Johnny Young Bosch, Yuri Lowethal and Liza Ortiz ( glad to hear her again feels like a long time since I heard her).
