    I can’t even tell you how thankful I am that I found your video. I’ve tried strippers, sanders, scrapers, and had started flipping the boards. The screws were completely rusted so I had to saw them in half before I could finally get the boards up. Took three hours to do 8 of them. Then I saw your video. $60 for the Diamabrush and one hour later I had totally scraped off 2/3 of that Deckover garbage. THANK YOU!!!!!! You saved my life and my deck! I’m sharing this with everyone I know!!!!

    It’s an older deck with lots of nails & screws that we are trying to avoid or go lightly over. I knew I’d need at least one more blade.

Since these deck boards are old i did not do any fine sanding after i hit it with the diamabrush ... ... i will have a video out soon with a review of the paint/stain i used and how it held out for the winter ..... buy the end of the month .... note: if you are going to use this you need like any other tool to "get a feel" for and practice on a old piece of wood to see how it works and the right amount of pressure/angle to use ... that said hands down this is the best paint non chemical removal tool i have ever used ..... for thick paint off of wood...

    How’d you clear the paint of the edges of each board?

    • @maldo72
      @maldo72  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      with the tool go over ot very lightly and it take the edges of the paint right off ... plus you can use the flap sanding disks if you need a finer point

    If you don’t recommend Deck Over what product are you planning to use to finish your deck? What will you use in areas where there is more damage, like on the railing you showed?

    • @maldo72
      @maldo72  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching ... no i DO NOT recommend Deckover its more of a cover up then to fix the problem.... will be replacing the damage parts of the wood and using stain instead of paint that's why i went through the pain of stripping the deck down to bare wood again .. will have upcoming videos on what i am using and how its coming out

    • @maldo72
      @maldo72  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      not sure the stain is in the wood not on the surface

    Did you use the Diamabrush on the rails or was that a angle grinder with a disc? If so which disk? I’m on my way to Lowe’s to get the Craftsman angle grinder and want to know which disk you used. Almost done with my deck but a bit of rain slowed us down. Should be painting by next week depending on the weather. Seattle for ya!!!! LOL

    Dude, get some safety glasses and they also make a vacuum shroud for this thing to suck all the dust and stuff away so you don't breath it.

    This product is extremely hard to get (only through amazon pretty much) and costs between $80-$120 in Canada... I think I'm still going to try my chances with chemical paint stripper first. Maybe I'll be lucky. On that note, wear a dust mask, eye protection and gloves when you're doing this kind of work, I'm usually not hard into PPE (I'm in construction engineering myself) but I've seen some nasty stuff before. Funny story, I used to work for a company doing bridge assessment and bridge load tests, on one job site (construction was done) my boss told me "wear a helmet FFS!" and I thought "what a BS, no construction activity here". I took it off for a few seconds and then the wind gust blew one of the ladders straight onto my head... That told me that unexpected usually happens at the worst possible moment lol. Another story when I was called to run a finished construction structural inspection, I was told no PPE required because it's finished and no construction activities, then I stepped on a nail lol.

    • @stevekober1805

      I have a 7 amp 5 in DeWalt Grindr that I use with a Diamabrush for deck restoration.
      It will get hot after 20 to 30 minutes of non-stop grinding on a deck.
      You do not put any downward pressure with this tool you let it float and do the work for you.
      You just need to maintain control of it with the side handle and a good grip on the grinder itself.
      You get off level or tip an edge, you will easily dig into the wood and risk damage and injury.
