- The central coast of California is one of the most beautiful places in the United States. The views of the coastline, outdoor adventures, and small towns always keep me coming back for more. Amie and I spent 6 days exploring the area and this video showcases all of the things that we did in towns like Pismo Beach, Morro Bay, Los Alamos, Cayucus, Cambria and San Simeon.

Never stop making videos.
Moved to california at 10 years old. Started to wander at 20. Lived in several paradises including Hawaii, Alaska and the Caribbean. Also Georgia, Pennsylvania, Maine and Nevada. Back in Morro Bay at 75, and they're going to have to take me out in a box. Truly is paradise.
My wife and I just came back from a road trip to Cambria to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. I kept the destination a secret and followed your advise with stops in Santa Maria, SLO, Pismo Beach, Morro Bay and 10 hours later we were in Cambria to enjoy the sunset. We stayed at the Sea Otter Inn for 2 nights. We also visited the elephant seals in San Simeon and Hearst Castle. My wife loved every minute of our trip, especially Moonstone Beach and the nice places to eat along the way ... Thank you Josh!!
I'm from here and can't get enough of it. I'm on highway 1 any chance I get. You missed alot of the good spots only locals know like Salomon creek waterfalls....

Awesome! I lived in Santa Clarita Valley / LA County for 9 years before moving back to Indiana for family reasons at age 30. Now, age, 58, divorced and son grown, doing well in Colorado, I am planning my return - this time to the Central Coast. This video brought tears and strenghthened my resolve - "I'LL BE BACK!" ;) Thank you!

I live in Grover Beach. I have lived in 5 states. From the midwest, to the eastern seaboard to the south. I love the central coast the best. Been here 30 years. Never going to leave, even though rent is half my salary. It's worth it to me.

I watched this exact video four years ago when I was still an international student studying in Santa Barbara. You really did a great job choosing some of the best. I feel like I can still remember the lovely days back then even though I'm not in the states anymore: the weather, the sunset, the beaches, and also the cinnamon rolls. Thank you Josh! It reminds me of everything with my loved ones.

I love California and my home America .
I used to live in SLO and my relationship with my husband started watching the sunset at Oceano State Beach. So beautiful there! Whenever we go there we eat at the Rock 'n Roll Diner right off the beach. It's your typical 50's diner, but lots of fun. I miss living there so much!
Well done, very well done. Wife and I have live here (Arroyo Grande) since 1981. Your video reminds me once again how special this place is and that we shouldn't take it for granted.

We escaped from Orange County 5 years ago (Costa Mesa), bought a ranch in Nipomo, and have not looked back...SOOOOO do not miss "The Crush"!! Happy travels!
@Ramen Lover I remember O.C. when the 405 ended at Harbor Blvd., and South Coast Plaza and the Westin were the only buildings of any size in Costa Mesa. The Westminster Mall stands on what used to be a tomato field and koi farm...that koi farm is now at Goldenwest/405
You guys nailed it! Wife and I have lived on the Central Coast nearly 40 years (Arroyo Grande) and you hit on the essence of its awesome grandeur, not to mention the first cabin production.

Your video inspired me to go on a road trip from San Diego to Big Sur. Many of the places were closed due to Covid like the Hearst Castle and the Pfeiffer State Park but it was still a lot of fun and many places to see. Can't wait to return!
There is nothing better than exploring the things you love with the one you love, each other making beautiful memories and moments.
My girlfriend and I drove along this coast in 2012 for a two week vacation. I can tell you for sure that it was the best vacation I ever had. What a beautiful coast! Sometimes I still actually dream about being back there!

You hit all the good spots. Have you ever been to Avila Valley Barn? That's a fun spot for great ice cream, pie, cinnamon rolls, you-pick berries, and seeing goats.

Robert Chorley i live in this area, one thing he didn’t really touch on is wine. Its like a mini napa out here so if you like wine there is plenty of great wineries and tasting rooms in the area.

Grew up in Santa Maria. SMHS Class of 1967. Sure do miss the coast. Miss Santa Maria BBQ big time! Brad's in Pismo has the best tri-tip sandwich. Surfed Pismo, Thousand Steps, and Avila Beach. Good to read all the great comments about my old stompin' grounds. Gonna fly to Santa Barbara and board the Coast Starlight Train to Portland when safe. Stay positive Central California. Love the videomy wife and I are from Virginia, we were in San Fran two years ago for a conference so we headed south afterwards to see my nephew who lives in Huntington Beach. It was the spring right after the big mudslide, so we had to stop short on the north end where the road was blocked, headed over the canyon from Carmel...which was very cool...soon as we could after hitting the 101 cut back on the one...I could spend every summer vacation in California coast. Thanks so much for sharing

Hi, Thank you both for sharing your adventures, Wife and Teenage boys just came back from a 4 day trip of Central Coast. Mimicked most of your trip it was amazing. Favorites was the hike on Black Hill Trail and of course Moon Stone Beach ( no one else there) and the Sea Otter in. Number of spots are closed Piedras Blancas and Hearst Castle. Made trip even more memorable as we had most of the beaches and Vista points to ourselves.

I was born and raised in the central coast! You guys should try Rancho Nipomo’s pulled pork sandwich and then head out to Jacko’s for a large spencer (ribeye steak) next time. Loved the video!

I'd been thinking about taking a short trip down there, but with the big heat wave we had I thought better to go north. I did Pismo Beach for a few days and hope you do that too, the next time temps get up into the 90's+, and bring back another video!

I'm from Imperial Valley, if you're ever down here feel free to hit me up. I can show you some great Hot Springs that not too many know about. There is one out in the desert which is an oasis with a sandy bottom. It's awesome!

May of 2020 we are renting a camper/van in Vegas going to San Diego and then Sacramento the heading to PCH all the way to Portland on our way to Everett, Wa, And then return a 21-day trip. We are looking forward to this trip so much.
Love your videos. Planning epic road trip from Chicago to Santa then west coast from San Diego to Carmel, then returning east passing by San Francisco to Yellowstone National park then Devil's tower returning home to Canada.
