@@개혁자-k5d yeah, so you have to be prepared to lose if you want to win. Failure is a learning experiance. This is the only mindset that matters and the only one that is correct. No one has ever won without failing first
Same thing happened to me, I was Destroyer rank playing Nina, going up against a Fujin Bryan. I actually beat him the first match and thought he might have been one of those guys who got his rank by setting his matchmaking rank to "any" to pick up easy wins. 2nd match he showed me exactly why he was fujin, I got no round browned, perfected twice in a row. The triple perfect was on the cards but I made the third round somewhat respectable, taking half his health before gettjng ko'd lol. Going into the third match I know he thought he'd downloaded me, but it went down to the last round and I ended up beating him. Don't be a wuss and plug/run from rematches. Playing people who are better than you is the fastest way to improve.
Great vid. Tekken can really be frustrating. There was one guy I played for 16 mins and came back from losing two whole set in a best of three. I am not all that great. But I was proud of that comeback.
Man! I definitely feel this! There's been many times where I felt i had no chance playing against someone but came back from only having a hit or 2 left before i lost. Or i would get destroyed the first match and rematch "knowing" i had no chance of winning. But I would adapt and figure someone out to win the set! I always finish my sets even if it's someone that seems much more skilled than me 💯💪🏽
Thank you brother this is my first tekken I main Lee. I was losing a lot, after a couple of weeks of losing and studying my replays I got to fujin. I still got a lot to improve on but this lifted my spirits.
I'm glad it helped bro. This game is rough and the ranked system doesn't make it any easier. Sometimes I feel like quitting but you gotta keep going. There's so much to learn in it.
Mindsets are everything in fighting games. Most people going into Tekken just think the other guy is either mashing on them, or is a veteran Tekken player basically smurfing on them. It takes a more elevated and experienced attitude to not really treat those scenarios like they matter, and simply take a few nanoseconds to tell yourself 'Ok, this player is godlike, but every strategy in this game has a weakness. How can i exploit this person?' I actually find myself grinning fiendishly when i encounter a real killer, cause i always feel myself getting stronger for playing a strong opponent.
To your last point, I thought I was psycho for doing the same thing and feeling the same way. I get such a great sense of the strength of my opponent, that I know it will take all of my fighting ability to push myself to match where they are at that mountain top of skill
a plugger like this doesn't care about having a good fight. they saw they got launched and plugged just in case the combo + wall pressure killed, because they are rank obsessed and wanna keep it any pathetic means necessary
I don’t understand pluggers from the perspective that fighting stronger competition forces you to learn and improve. Throwing a tantrum and plugging so you don’t soil your record gives you nothing, no growth, no experience, just a get out of jail free card. A temporary solution to a long term skill issue. I’m only Tenryu myself, but I feel like every match gives you an opportunity to find something new.
I agree, but it also works both ways. I played a set with a Bryan for my promotion the other day. Beat him the first game he beat me the next two cause I got downloaded and lost the promo ended up having an off day and proceeded to lose an entire rank after matching a slew of druganovs and fengs 👻
Don't worry, bro. I literally just ranked up to Bushin, got right next to Tekken King again and then proceeded to get deranked back to Kishin. This game is brutal ☠️
I'm getting to where I'm starting to get matched up with more blue rank folks, and my games start out like that almost every time. The first round, I eat a perfect. Second round, probably another loss. Then I'm turning it around. Adaptation is so important.
My third highest stat for ranked is Hyper focused cuz of all the reverse 3-2 situations I was in. Being pinned against a corner activates a switch in me
i was absolutely humbled by an asuka player on 7 given my predisposition that she's just a spammy character and this guy just hard read everything i did and hit me with every parry in the moveset that i had no idea she could even do and i managed to turn it around and get a 3-0 game on him when i learned to be more patient and stop letting him bait me with parries, great learning experience

The only times I ever quit online matches is when the opponent starts patronizing me, like pressing taunt multiple times, teabagging or spamming a single move, etc. If my opponent can't be a good sportsman then I have no reason to waste my time with such a person.

Currently have been stuck at Eliminator rank for a few days and getting demoted right as I was about to get Ganryu really hurts. I am getting closer and closer though and I do hope to get there, after finally overcoming some character matchups and stuff. Although I do have my issues with ranked, i will say it has helped me build a significant level of perseverance when it comes to getting my ass whooped. I really wish they had the infinite replay system so I could actually try and learn how to deal with the opponent, regardless if I keep losing. Honestly MK1 ranked is handles this really well, with the "Friendly Rematch" option, where you can have infinite rematches WITHOUT ranked points being at stake. Would def help the TK8 playerbase managing losses, as they arent like "Tf is that???"
I'm only a lowly destroyer but i worked hard for my rank. I fought plenty of cheaters and pluggers even at green ranks. People like to shit on us at low ranks but we do run into the same problem. You'll never catch me plugging. I take my Ls knowing i got outplayed or there was just a clear difference in skill.
Good mindset, the top 5 characters may be too 8 really need to be cut off at the knees though cause sometimes it's also a difference of "character" some people getting carried hard.
I think the lower and mid tier characters are more viable in Tekken than other fighting games. For example Asuka, Claudio and Zafina have been doing ok in Tampa Never Sleeps.
In Tekken you have to lose a lot, or else you wont learn anything, you cant master the fundementals in just one week, and one of the most important thing is you need to find a character that suits you, i always played Kazuya in every Tekken in Tekken 8 i play Lee, he's playstyle suits me better this time around
I can't stand it with people who dip when they're losing. I play T7 and SC6 with a friend of mine, and I rarely win. Even when I was playing mk9, playing at a much higher level than I'm able to play any fighting game currently, which isn't saying much, I still played for the fun of it. Not just winning. Cause winning didn't happen a lot for me.
I’m praying to god I can get to tenryu I’ve been close to hitting that rank and it’s just constant bullshit left and right with Alisa king Dragunov and pluggers and so on. I wasn’t having fun tonight but I hope to do better with my Jin
Love your Tekken vids man. You have any tips for practicing defense in Tekken? I feel like I get hit alot. I'm warrior rank with Claudio. Also i agree with your opinion on never giving up. I went down 0-2 in rounds in my first ever ranked match. It was against a Yoshimistu and his connection was terrible. I ended up making a comeback and winning the match.
Tekken 8 excels more in offense and punishments. Get into practice tool and check your key moves in what they do (if you hit, does the move track, is it a natural launcher or does it puah back a lot if blocked etc.) This can be frame start up, frame + or - on block, and what you can do with that. Some moves can be very negative, but due to pushback you may have an advantage, and use that to continue your assault or mix up. Select the practice dummy that you are weak or have a hard time against, and check the common punishment moves. It helps a lot. Put the dummy on offense and let it start hitting you with a mix on highs, lows, mid etc. at the right time you can see when you can punish, watch out for 50/50, and learn from the common mistakes you make during defense. Hope that helps
I am a really really bad teacher. The best thing I can say is use the replay feature a lot. For me, I learn on the fly. I'm a visual learner so I don't learn by reading frame data. I just play and remember things.
