    Very comprehensive video review Rachael and good to see some focus on the non Sphere model. It does seem slightly at odds that the latest Phonak product releases are not increasing battery life as all other manufacturers releases with some form of AI are managing to retain current size and increase battery capacity. Is the battery drain therefore from the Era chipset as well as the sphere additional chip. ?

    • @rachaelcookaud2695
      @rachaelcookaud2695 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I was surprised about the lack of battery capacity increases, too. I think it has more to do with the battery they are using than the actual chip drain, but I could definitely be wrong.

    I was recently fitted with a pair of Infinio 70 series RIC aids. I was in my trial period using the Lumity 70 series and decided to upgrade to the newest model.
    I'm very happy with the Infinio lineup. The Autosense 6.0 seems to jump from one program to another much less often than the Autosense 5.0.
    I have BCBS and used my Truhearing benefit. My out of pocket was only $1400 including my $1000 deductible.
    The Lumity 70 and Infinio 70 series are the same price in my case.
    I'm going back next week to do some minor tweaking of the aids.
    Overall I'm thrilled with them!!!

    I was just fitted with the Infinio Ric-R 90 Friday and the Bluetooth connection was nowhere near 350 feet with an iPhone on a golf course with no obstructions. About 150 feet max before it started cutting out. I couldn't leave my iPhone mounted to my bag and leave it at the next tee and walk to the previous green without Bluetooth cutting out. Other than that, I love them so far.

    I was supplied with my first and only ever pair of hearing aids, Phonak ones, three years ago. They are not just useless: they are worse than useless. Apart from being uncomfortable to wear after a couple of hours, I have to take them out if someone is speaking to me. They function more like ear-plugs than hearing aids.

    Well, after having my Oticon OPN S-! BICROS, I took the plunge and I'm waiting for my PHonak Infinio BICROS to arrive. I do wish they had made the CROS compatible with the Sphere as most of us with SSD share the same difficulty of hearing in noisy background environments. The Roger device is said to be extremely helpful in noisy environments, but in my opinion, it's just too expensive.. I sure hope this new PHonak CROS and Infinio RIC is an improvement.

    • @kshermy
      @kshermy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a Roger On and don't believe it is helpful in noisy environments, it's good for conference rooms not a restaurant. It cannot compare to an Active Noise Cancellation remote mics. Maybe someone can connect an ANC wireless mic to Phonak. I can do that with Apple AirPods and some mFi aids but not with Phonak.

      The Speech in Loud Noise program (the program getting all the buzz in the Sphere's) relies on utilizing the microphones on both devices to work. I presume this is why. Both devices do have microphones, but the CROS transmitter mics must not process sound the same, or it can't transfer that info over correctly. This is why no one who wears one hearing aid should get the Spheres!

    • @ALaughaday1
      @ALaughaday1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rachaelcookaud2695 that is exactly what my audiologist explained to me---that it has to do with the CROS not being able to utilize the technology. I'm waiting for my new Phonak CROS infinio/Phonal Infinio to arrive. Hopefully, there's an improvement from my previous BICROS systems. I really wish these companies could understand the frustration in seeing such wonderful improvements for typical hearing impaired patients and only tiny (if any) improvements in technology for SSD.

      @kshermy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Justme-wu5nw you are reading my mail. I now have the new Phonak Sphere Infinio 90s and am testing the difference from my Paradise P90s and my AirPods Pro 2. I do need more test time on my Spheres but so far I would have to say that neither the Spheres nor the AirPods are sufficient for air travel noise. I had to wear an ANC headset over both of them when streaming movies on multiple flights. I didn't expect the Spheres, nor did I find, the Spheres to outperform the AirPods as the AirPods cover the entire ear with little leakage and apply ANC to all the noise. Even the best closed dome ITEs only apply passive noise reduction and would not do as well as the AirPods, as once the noise gets in there is nothing the Sphere can do to eliminate it. I think the FDA Approval will rock the Hearing Industry and lead to fully functioning Ear Buds

    • @DrCliffAuD
      @DrCliffAuD  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@kshermy unfortunately, the FDA Approval of the Airpods Pro 2 will do nothing to the hearing aid industry except for make it stronger. Performance of Apple's current hearing aid feature is severely lacking as a hearing aid. As far as ANC, you can't do it without a fully occluding your ear canals and canceling 100% of the outside sound, including all speech, which defeats the entire purpose of a hearing aid.

    • @kshermy
      @kshermy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@DrCliffAuD I agree with the poor performance of the AirPods as capable hearing aids. As for occlusion, I respectfully disagree. I know occlusion well and Apple seems to have cracked that nut. Occlusion is minor and environmental awareness seems quite good. I favor the AirPods over my Spheres for calls in all streaming in noisy environments. That said, I would be love to schedule a best practices session with you to max the performance of my Spheres and do some AB testing against the newest AirPods. You likely know I have little regard for noise reduction techniques but do hope that AI can match or exceed ANC. My current dream is EarPods over my Spheres

      @@DrCliffAuD Please review these devices again, you might be surprised. The AirPod Pro 4 is described as an open fit and both the 2 and 4 have transparency settings offering good speech pass thru while maintaining good fidelity as well as noise cancellation. @lauramaeda7214 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    A lot of information to process. There’s a lot of good improvements but i still question whether there are enough improvements to upgrade. I love my Phonak Audeo Lumity. I love my Roger On In microphones. Having a shorter ear wire is a plus. I don’t see the battery life suiting my daily needs and i would still need to put them back in the charger to meet my streaming requirements . And although a telecoil would increase the size, i am disappointed that this is not an option. And finally, when is Phonak going to get more colors in their lineup? I may be in a minority as far as wanting a more fashion forward color but i also think it would make them easier to find if you set them down or accidentally drop them. I would even be okay if they brought in a bright white that can be decorated.

    As far as I’m concerned since this new infinio launch does not include the sphere in the BiCros then to me it’s not much of an improvement over my Paradise. It took them forever to figure out how to get the BiCros and the paradise, but once they figured out the technology involved, it’s not a great leap to include it in Luminity or Infinio hearing aids. Nothing new for BiCros tech. The next hurdle for Phonak will be to have programming in the BiCros and the ability to put the Sphere DeepSonic chip in there. Until Phonak comes out with new technology or programming for the BiCros there isn’t much advantage for me to purchase
