I have the Oticon Intent 1 BTE hearing aids. They give me 27-28 hours on a single charge and even if I stream You Tube videos to them, I still wear them for 17-18 hours a day and when I take them out at bedtime there is still over 9-10 hours left when I put them on the charger. No complaints.

Audeo Sphere hearing aids have been next level for me. The experience in a loud/crowded place has been nothing short of amazing. Was in a business meeting today in a loud restaurant and, for the first time ever, everyone else kept saying "what?" and I heard everyone perfectly. Still in the trial period for these but liking them a lot. Just wish they had Made for iPhone compatibility instead of only being Bluetooth (which has worked great on my iPhone)

Thanks Dr Cliff for your quality reviews, I find them very helpful. Just a comment regarding rechargeable batteries. Older people and especially those with onset of dementia find the daily battery management of recharging hearing aids very difficult. I tried having my mother in aged care fitted with rechargeable hearing aids but most days when I visited her she hadn't charged the hearing aids. I found it wasn't a burden for me to visit my mother once a week to replace non-rechargeable batteries in her hearing aids so I went back to them.

I have Oticon Intent 2. The hearing aids will last 20 hours, around 16 when streaming throughout the day. Easy peasy to charge. Recharging is fast too.

Thanks for the new up grade information on the2025 aids. now consider this. several months ago i checked myself into the hospital, i thought i was having a heart attack. After testing the dr. informed me it was not a attack. but he wanted me in there over night just to make shure. everything is oky. guess what! my recharge hearing aids ran out!i had to call my son to get and bring my charger. That would not be a problem with exchangable battries! just pop in two new ones that last for two to three days. the new lithium batteries can last longer if you turn them off at night. Iv bought both types over the years.

Phonak Audeo Spheres have lasted all day with half charge remaining. Much more than I expected.

Would you be happy to review some live subtitling glasses? Seen theres a load available now, but unsure which would be best and how they'd work in group settings - think they'd be massive for people who struggle with hearing speech :)

Just started trialing the Starkey Edge AI RIC RT model. I think I used about 30% of a charge all day with lots of streaming. I really wanna give these a good test. Maybe, if I’m lucky, I’ll be able to burn 50% in a day? I have yet to delve much into extended use of Edge Mode +, so we shall see.

    Hello Dr. Cliff
I currently have a-pair of 4 year old
    resound Quattro 9 .
They still work pretty well so would you wait for 2026 models for better technology or pull the plug this year ? I see you recommend the lone hearing up office in York pa area , audio professionals . I will make an appointment there when I feel it’s time . By the way which hearing aid would you recommend for moderate to borderline severe with severe bilateral tinnitus 5
years . Thanks for any advice / info and I always enjoy your vids .
and expertise . John in Pa

I'm currently trying out the Oticon Intent 1 and have run into a strange problem. Sustained notes, such as those from a musical instrument or even certain buzzers or beep tones, have a tremolo effect when I hear them. Rather than the steady tone that the source produces, I'm hearing a tone that's wobbling between notes. My technician is checking with the manufacture regarding possible solutions to this problem. I'm posting here to see if anyone has experienced this problem. Thanks in advance.

I am experiencing the exact same problem - it happens a lot and I have tried the intents 1 and 2. From looking online it seems likely it is something to do with the feedback management programme. I have an appointment on Friday so will see if my audiologist is able to do anything to fix it.

I’ve never had hearing aids. Looking at the starkey edge AI ric models. The 2 sizes confuse me a bit. Small is appealing in some ways. I’m a little concerned about hiding it behind my ear. I get that it has 1 button vs 2 and holds less charge. I’m embarrassed to say, I’m not sure what the buttons do. I assume volume? Is the small one “ secure” and won’t fall off? If there a big downside to the smaller one? I do work on a computer and wear glasses. Any advice is appreciated on the sizes and features there. Thanks

This is a very helpful review! But can you suggest when the Phonak Virto R Infinio's might be available? Is it right to think that the Virto R's will be smaller, and with better sound quality, than the Starkey Edge AI ITC R; and that Phonak offers excellent AI in the chip designs in all of their Infinio models.

You will not get AI with the virto r. And I have tried the Infinio non sphere and they are significantly worse than the Oticon 1 in speech in noisy settings. I will be trying the edge ai ITE and expect them to be much better than the Phonak because of this. Also Phonak sucks in windy situations. The only advantage they have is Bluetooth classic.

I am still not completely convinced that rechargeable devices are the best solution. My regular BTE are rechargeable but i also have a backup pair that disposable battery models. I would not select a hearing aid without a telecoil anytime soon. I would like better battery life as i usually have to recharge after 12 hours. The pandemic reduced my in person experiences. I only have two instances a month where built in speech in noise would help. I do have remote microphones that i use. I would like a charger that holds an extra charge. Size is not an issue. I have started an auditory training program. I also have a huge stash of disposable batteries in the older, easier opening package that have an expiration date of 2028. I am hoping that battery manufacturers will come up with a better easier to open childproof packaging solution prior to me running out of batteries. I think there will always be a small percentage of hearing aids wearers who will prefer a disposable battery option and there will probably be a percentage of users who can’t afford to upgrade from a disposable battery option to a rechargeable this year. Battery type/life, telecoils and color choice will probably alwys be the dealbreakers for me.

Sorry, but customers en masse are not demanding rechargeable batteries. This is just not true. Quite a lot of people, probably about 1 in 3 are really concerned about rechargeability not lasting a day. What happens if you end up in ER late a night and your hearing aid doesn't have much charge left, or if you are flying on vacation? Don't know whether you are promoting this, but people can only be reassured if this technology can hold charge for more than 2 to 3 days.
