This is a pretty quilt. What sets it apart is the use of the lighter strips in and around the two corners at the top. One border was all that was needed.
That is a beautiful quilt. I made a tree skirt from the same strip set so this will definitely be a wonderful quilt to add to my living room. Thanks for the tutorial!
Both my grandparents were into sewing. My grandmother was a seamstress and my grandfather was a tailor. I have just today discovered your channel and my goodness, you are sooooo talented!!! I have set my eyes on 4 of these quilts already... knowing full well that these are old videos... I am binge watching, lol ;) Greetings from Amsterdam!
Beautiful quilt, beautiful fabric and beautiful quilting! Your detail with the instructions are always wonderful, plus you have such a pleasant voice. My hubby watched this one with me too! 😃. Thanks for sharing.
Well done, great tutorial. One day I’m going to make it to your store. We pick up product in DALLAS OREGON.. that’s 3 hrs away… I’m Canadian, so this will be a huge treat for me… God bless.
Goodness me! You’ve done such a beautiful job on that quilt. All those bias seams, i was stressed out just watching you. Very beautiful, very nicely done.
Beautiful! An ambitious quilt, and large! The result is gorgeous, and as usual, a great, instructional video. Thanks for taking the time to warn about all the bias edges. Those can really ruin a block if not handled properly. As you said, the more you mess with them, the worse they get, so it's great that you repeatedly caution us! Your videos are the best!
I have started using your method of fingernail pressing seams as well as pressing without steam to set the seams and steaming to finish. My work has never looked better! Thank you, Donna for sharing your methods!
WOW...I so love this!! You showed the back of the quilt and oh my I did not expect such a pretty backing...I think a star could of been put on the top of the tree..But my goodness that is so pretty and was so neat to watch it all come together..you were right, it was like a puzzle...Great Job!!!
This is my favorite video of any quilt making and I love the quilt! The fabric is just beautiful. I got some but not all since I had so much I could use. I couldn't start on it this Christmas but I will work on it in the spring and have it all ready for next. Its so pleasant just watching you sew. Ive played your video several times to catch all of the techniques--haven't worked with a tube yet so that will be fun to learn. Thanks so much for this video!
I love your tutorials! You are great on camera, with such a sweet personality. I found your shop at the Houston Quilt Festival and then found your videos. I was born and raised in Grants Pass. My mother still lives there, so I am excited to visit your shop on my next trip to Oregon!
I love your teaching style. That is a beautiful Christmas tree quilt. The holly pattern-so apropos 😉 Watching other TH-cam quilting videos, I have noticed more and more instructors pressing their seams open in order to minimize the bulk WHERE SEVERAL SEAMS together. I have not seen you do that and wonder why-it does make the junction much tidier. (Since I learned to sew garments long before I started making quilts. As a newbie, I would cringe a wee bit when instructed to press the seam to the side! I adjusted and no longer cringe!)
patchwork quilts have traditionally had the seams pressed to one side to add strength to the seam. If there is only thread between 2 patches it is a bit more likely to break than when there is fabric behind the stitching. Having said that, it is mostly just a matter of preference whether you open or close the seams.
Thank you for your tutorials! I like your style of breaking things down into easy steps. Because you repeat, over and over, to iron flat and carefully press, etc, I'm much more cognizant of how I press. My blocks have shown much improvement in all of my projects. I just want to thank you immensely for that. I've purchased several kits from you. I love how they've all turned out. I'm so glad I found you!!
Thank you sew much for all your pointers on not distorting your blocks. I am trying to focus more on this process to have my blocks turn out square and not wonky.
Thank you for doing this tutorial. My local quilt shop just did a quilt strip club presentation on this pattern, but you gave more in depth information. I love you tutorials. Merry Christmas.
Beautiful quilt! Would love to see this done as a door size Christmas Card holder wall hanging with HST's that create "pockets" you can slip the xmas cards received. This would add to the xmas decor & keep the cards on display each season to enjoy. Thank you for the tutorial!
Hi Donna, you sure strike the right Christmas spark with this tutorial! Good job, beautiful quilt, and a well explained tutorial! Thank you so much, and tell Matt he was missed!
This turned out beautiful! I was not sure when you chose fabrics, but I like your version better than the pattern picture. And I love that you show how critical proper ironing is to a great looking quilt. I learned long ago that ironing is the most important part of piecing, you can piece perfectly and jack it all up quickly with poor ironing.
Livinnpjs ...I agree. Very few quilting tutorials emphasise ironing, They'll tell you which way your seams need to be ironed by don't tell you about the finer, really important details. My own quilt ironing has improved vastly because of Donna.
Thank you so much for the tutorials. I just completed my first quilt, a baby quit. I wish i had watched the ones you've done on binding. I've learned so much. And i love your fabrcs. Deb
I wasn’t sure that I would like the light prints around the top-I thought it would be too busy-but it’s perfect! In fact, I like it better than just having tonal fabrics as shown on the pattern cover! And, as always, NAIL GOALS. I’m an official Donna nail watcher😂😂
Gorgeous! Looks so complicated so this video is very helpful. Thanks Donna. I do want to swap out that plain block at the top of the tree with a beautiful star block.
Thanks Donna. This is just so beautiful. Not sure I have the patience to make it, but you do make it look so much easier than it looks. Blessed Christmas to you all at Jordan Fabrics...my favourite go-to online shop🤶🤶
Love this quilt! The tree is huge. I wonder if you could design a quilt that has three smaller trees placed at odd places next to each other? I think that would be more interesting and not feel so gigantic.
I get so excited to see an email from you in my inbox! Thank you so much for all your quilting instruction. You have made me such a better quilter! I’ll be ordering some fabric from Jordan Fabrics soon, just waiting on a pattern I ordered to come in the mail. Ive never been to OR, but really looking forward to planning a trip to visit your shop!
This is a pretty quilt. What sets it apart is the use of the lighter strips in and around the two corners at the top. One border was all that was needed.
I am adding this project to my "Quilts to make when I can sew as well as Donna" list! 😘
That is a beautiful quilt. I made a tree skirt from the same strip set so this will definitely be a wonderful quilt to add to my living room. Thanks for the tutorial!

Boy, wouldn’t I love my sewing machine set into a nice, big, flat, table like yours. So nice.
Perfect!! You are a PRO for sure! Merry quilting!

Beautiful quilt, beautiful fabric and beautiful quilting! Your detail with the instructions are always wonderful, plus you have such a pleasant voice. My hubby watched this one with me too! 😃. Thanks for sharing.
My new favorite game is noticing if your nail color changes during a video. 😜💅
Bethany W... Outfits change too. 😄
It does.
I never noticed that!
LOL I noticed it too.
I love the nails also!!!!
Well done, great tutorial. One day I’m going to make it to your store. We pick up product in DALLAS OREGON.. that’s 3 hrs away… I’m Canadian, so this will be a huge treat for me… God bless.

Beautiful. A nice large quilt for the couch during the Christmas season.
You deposit tips and tricks to my sewing/quilting "bank" every time I watch your videos!! Thanks!

WOW...I so love this!! You showed the back of the quilt and oh my I did not expect such a pretty backing...I think a star could of been put on the top of the tree..But my goodness that is so pretty and was so neat to watch it all come together..you were right, it was like a puzzle...Great Job!!!

Made small can definitely be hanged on the wall at Christmas time.

Beautiful quilt! Would love to see this done as a door size Christmas Card holder wall hanging with HST's that create "pockets" you can slip the xmas cards received. This would add to the xmas decor & keep the cards on display each season to enjoy. Thank you for the tutorial!
For holding cards you can do a present box next to the tree🎁 on the quilt. Actually even 2 or 3 each different size for different size cards.
WOW.. I Love This Christmas Tree Quilt! Thank you so much for the tutorial Donna. I wish Matt would make a "Tannenbaum Kit"; Please !!!
