you know, the funny thing is, when you think about it, the early verses actually ARENT just bragging/propaganda- by the time of 4.1, the EDF would have OBLITERATED an invasion of the same scale as the last one- their orbital defense system would have stopped them making planetfall, period- and they'd have had relatively little trouble with 2-3 motherships instead of one- they just had no way of knowing the ludicrous reserves the ravagers had available...
It sounds like they only had 1 and 2 before the invasion, since one of them describes what happens in City Of Horror. They weren't just being sure about it before, they also expanded the sing on the fly during the rest of the fight despite being killed. They must have good musicians.

Imagine being Storm 1 You start off, this random guy. You're in the middle of your shift at work when giant insects burrow up from the ground. You, and all the people around you, now have to fight for your lives to reach a safe shelter, but in the journey to that, you just keep fighting. Wave after wave, hill after hill, you fight and you fight and you fight. Cities crumble, thousands die. In the course of fighting you find out that aliens are real, and that they giant insects have been here since the dawn of man. That, in fact, all life on earth is the result of some deific progenitor being. But, now, they ALL want to end the human race. If you don't fight, they will eliminate every human on the planet. They almost do. But you keep fighting. Eventually, you're one of the only people left who can fight. When "God" descends from Its heaven to personally deal with you, because thus far, *NO* other measures have been enough to kill you. Not giant ants, spiders, bees, power armored alien shocktroopers, giant kaijus, and massive alien battleships -- none of it could halt your unbreakable desire to live. Everyone around you has died. Everyone you probably ever knew along with them. There's maybe 10% of the population of earth left, and that's a generous estimate. Then it's over. God is dead. By your hand. Over the next few years, after a 90% population loss, the earth slowly rebuilds. You don't "retire". You can't, couldn't. Not after all that death. The only people you know anymore are the people you served with, and most of them are dead now... And then, one day. You're in the middle of your shift, when giant insects burrow up from the ground... it's going to start, all over again. The killing, the death. But you knew that. You knew it'd happen again, and you made a promise. On the graves of every man, woman, and child who gave their life just to buy you enough time to buy *HUMANITY* enough time... To save our mother from any alien attack...

If every guardsman was an EDF soldier, then their lasguns would be capable of destroying entire hive cities after a day of fighting. Their main method of travel would be 50km/h dodge rolls. Their primary deployment tactic would be to jump from their troop carriers at an altitude of 200 meters. And that's not even getting into the Fencers.
i love how the song get progressivly more sad, it starts with such joy and cheeriness about destroying the bugs but it starts to go into ''rangers and wing divers are dead, guys'' followed by ''two days ago my brother died and then my lover fell...'' like they are slowly losing hope on saving humanity, but recompose themselves thanks to the leader
Every time I hear this song I can image a bench of soldiers sitting around camp fire and reminisced their brothers and lovers who were sacrificed days ago, and they slowly turned their sight to a soldier who was cleaning his/her weapons and keeping silent the whole time as they were sing the last part of the song.
I love how this song perfectly reflects the attitude of the story, how everything seems to be on the up and up, with us even taking down the copyright distinct death stars, and then the story's attitude changes. Like you get introduced to this hexagon looking mf and in my first missions I even took down one or two of them, but the entire mission shifts from "Repel the alien forces" to "Defeat as many bugs as you can and run away from the hexagons." Like I was actually doing some work, if we just focused our efforts on railcannon and heavy tank production, we could have repelled the hexagons no sweat. Epsilon Rail Tanks: the solution to any problem you have, numerous, powerful, or both. They keep your troops safe, and the robots dead (Yes I know it is sacrilege to be an air raider and focus on vehicles instead of carpet bombs, but I got a rude awakening early on in singleplayer that that shit was basically glorified killstreaks, Limpet Splendors for me, please and thank you. I am not accurate enough to be entrusted with something with less than 30 rounds of ammunition.) Edit because I lost the plot: By the end of the story, I was wondering what the hell was I actually doing anymore? The world is in anarchy, I am being supplied by the last remaining warship in the world, the only thing surviving was my rail cannon and vehicle helicopter depot, the HQ is sending the scraps of planes, rangers, and wingdivers fighting on broken bones. If this was a seige of a castle, we are beyond fighting it out in the throne room, we are fighting in the servant's quarter's bathrooms with like a squire and a ballistaman, both with significant concussions.

Helldivers 2 is pretty good, but they miss the mark of EDFs "The Magnesium torch of the human spirit in the darkness of its doom" vibes. They should crossover.
Each song somewhat has the same tone to "Blood Upon The Risers" it was for Paratrooper's during ww2. Which tells of a young recruit being a paratrooper undergoing training but only to end up, dead in the most gruesome way possible.

You just play any hero other than wing diver and if you have any soldiers that aren’t wing divers under your lead if you sing one verse they’ll sing the next verse
Every verse happens on specific levels, the queens carapace verse happens in the undergrpund segment.
@@xxtruedahkneshxx8422 The prompt actually works with Wing Diver; she just won't sing her part herself.
Captain Doomsday yeah I know which I find a bit sad but I never play wing diver so it’s not a big deal, I like to do the songs a lot

you have to love the EDF- they're an odd combination of Redshirt Army and Badass army- they actually kinda remind me of Glass Joe. no matter HOW many times they get Flattened, they unsteadily lurch back to their feet and charge back into the ring....
Except unlike Glass Joe, the EDF actually gets shit done

you know, the funny thing is, when you think about it,
the early verses actually ARENT just bragging/propaganda-
by the time of 4.1, the EDF would have OBLITERATED an invasion of the same scale as the last one- their orbital defense system would have stopped them making planetfall, period- and they'd have had relatively little trouble with 2-3 motherships instead of one- they just had no way of knowing the ludicrous reserves the ravagers had available...
It sounds like they only had 1 and 2 before the invasion, since one of them describes what happens in City Of Horror. They weren't just being sure about it before, they also expanded the sing on the fly during the rest of the fight despite being killed. They must have good musicians.

My favourite class is oddly enough the ranger. Something about being a normal soldier using conventional weaponry really strikes me as awesome. Also Air Raider, because you can never have enough explosions

Imagine being Storm 1
You start off, this random guy.
On the graves of every man, woman, and child who gave their life just to buy you enough time to buy *HUMANITY* enough time...

guardsmen from Warhammer40k could learn a thing or two from these guys.

I am not accurate enough to be entrusted with something with less than 30 rounds of ammunition.)
Edit because I lost the plot: By the end of the story, I was wondering what the hell was I actually doing anymore? The world is in anarchy, I am being supplied by the last remaining warship in the world, the only thing surviving was my rail cannon and vehicle helicopter depot, the HQ is sending the scraps of planes, rangers, and wingdivers fighting on broken bones. If this was a seige of a castle, we are beyond fighting it out in the throne room, we are fighting in the servant's quarter's bathrooms with like a squire and a ballistaman, both with significant concussions.
