because they tried allowing another company to make an EDF style game. It's called iron rain, it's a glorified mobile game only out for console/pc. . . .
A triple A developer would focus too much on photorealistic graphics. That game would run like crap if they tried to have so much stuff happening on-screen with those kinds of graphics. It would be the next Crysis.
I remember the first time I tried one of these games and your start with the basic rifle and thought it sucked. I decided to pick it up again one day and realized that this is one of the best game series ever made.

Well considering that these Balams were deployed in a rush it makes more sense. You have rookie pilots utilizing malfunctioning equipment. Barga was a last ditch effort from the EDF and even then its piloted by Storm 1. I would say the world by the end of EDF 5 would be close to how it is in the latter half of 4.1. Have to remember that this is a first invasion in comparison to the timeline of 2017 and then 4.1. You'll probably see more of that whenever EDF 6 rolls around to its Western release
I really enjoyed all of the EDF games. 4.1 is special to me because I had so many friends to play it with at the time. 5 is great and I'm sure 6 will be too, but neither of them really gave me the same enjoyment as 4.1 with friends

My headache with the game, though I still absolutely love it, is the ragdolling, it makes the game so much harder than it should be.
If I recall this game uses the havoc engine right? Its infamous for its ragdoll physics.
But that's what makes blowing up the bugs with huge explosions so much fun
