Great footage as always. This car was clearly made to catch attention and interest rather to get a fast car for the money. Obviously there has been put a lot of effort and money to realize this car. It's not just tuned, it's been made (@ you guys that compare it with supras, gtr's etc).
I quite like my 2013 Aygo. It was cheap and not terrible looking, had LED DRLs, AC, and electric windows. Basically, it ticked all my boxes except cargo space. It's a proper city car and not exactly designed for highway use. Although I did take it slightly beyond ~140 kph once while visiting Sweden, which was …interesting. Now I have to install a light bar I've had laying around for a while. The high beams are pitiful…
I have the 2012 model and i went in 2 trips from northern germany over the alps to venice and back. We did venice to paderborn in 14 hours with a few stops and used about 45 liters of gas.
Unactive This Aygo is made for fun and trackslaying while because its made of 2 cars, and modified alot. Perhaps, it might not beat fancy cars but if you only want commonly favourited car then that means you want a car just to be known. This car's purpose is to let you have fun and happy all year long.

It was reliable as is any Toyota some years ago, before all of the decent ones got swapped, trashed and crashed. In my eyes a Lancia Delta Integrale is a much more iconic car. Qicker, more stylish, more practical and with 6 WRC championships under its belt, which is a top level motorsport and notthing like some teenagers doing doughnuts on a car park. But anyways an Integrale is going now for even more insane prices than an AE86 so I wouldn't buy one either. At least not with money I have worked for. A Lexus sounds more tempting. I guess I am getting older.
I want Toyota to make this car, even if it's made in limited numbers. It's awesome! The Aygo Crazy should have it's own racing series haha! I can see them zipping around Mosport or Donington or Oulton Park!
Na a much better use of their time would be to update the GT86 with a flat 6 engine, have a supercharged or NA option with about 270NA to 350 HP supercharged. And make an AWD model for rally. Sell it at a tight profit margin so it's affordable and lots of people will buy it. Toyota's reputation will start recovering.
To all of you complaining about it costing 100k, here's some reasoning. Toyota probably wanted to make it somewhat safe to drive (not falling apart instantly) and reliable. Also, if you're large international company, 100k isn't a lot of money to spend on a side project.

I know you WILL hate me for this, but I actually don't think that the Aygo is that bad of a car. Yes, the wheels are way too thin. Yes, they're also too small. And yes, it's underpowered. But if you rev the engine to 4000rpm and above the 3 cylinders make a sound which would make many standart 4-cylinder engines jealous. Also, you can get the base model (without climatisation) with about 60000km for approx 3000€. (edit: even less) That's fucking cheap. Again, there are many, many cars I would prefer to the stock Aygo, but there are also MANY worse cars. You get a rather new car for almost NOTHING. You have a relatively nice sounding engine. You need about 4-5 litres of fuel per 100km. If you don't have much money this car is THE shit!
I absolutely agree and an aygo will likely still be chugging along after 20 years while any of the luxury cars that guys like this seem to worship will be in a scrapyard.
I'm surprised they went with the 1ZZFE for this car. This little beast with a turbo 2ZZGE would be proper insane, that's what they should have done. Even my little shitbox Corolla with an almost totally stock 2ZZ pumps out 200hp, and that's NA. The 2ZZ also sounds about a bajillion times better than the 1ZZ, especially when it's on lift and revving over 8k. This little Aygo would be complete with a 300+hp turbo 2ZZ, screaming it's tits off at 9k.
Speaking of that the steering is like a go kart and cars and that your English there is a go karting track in Oswestry called rednal karting. The car bit is that they own a racing ginetta G55 and must be supercharged and it sounds beautiful and a small go kart that I think revs up to 11000 RPM. :)
Insane price tag but the fact that only 1 was ever made yes you can buy a lambo but so can the other guy down the road and with it been rear wheel drive it must be fun just needs a bigger turbo, injectors, ebc and a remap...super car chaser :p
If you guys read between the lines, you would realize that Toyota probably built this car to experiment with the next mid-rear, compact turbo car that they want to build! They have made MR2's and MR-S's for almost 20 years, they have a lot of experience with mid-rear cars. I wouldnt be surprised to see a 250hp FA20 turbo engine, mid-rear mounted in a compact car! Think about it, the FT86 is the only real "fun" car that Toyota has right now and they are looking for the next step. ALSO, the 2015 Subaru WRX's are powered by a turbo FA20 engine (from the FT86, FRS, BRZ). Toyota is already working with Subaru for their engines, I could see a WRX/STi powered Toyota within 5 years :)

I think many people forget that if this was done at an independent shop it would cost far less, but this was done at Toyota, no? So their prices are much higher in the eyes of the public. Just imagine going to toyota and asking them, "can your team build me X car?" They'd tell you no first, but if they did agree it would be something very, very expensive just because it's Toyota, much like any large manufacturer. I can only imagine how much Jay Leno paid GM to build the Eco Jet. That being said if this was a mass produced vehicle it probably cost 25~35K USD. Not sure what kind of pricing it would be in the UK. I bet Toyota did this exercise to get some reaction from the UK public and see if it is worth it to Toyota to build a hot hatch. Also bear in mind this was built for 2008 car shows, four years before the GT86 was produced. I'm sure they're still gauging if it is needed/wanted from the UK for them to build a new fast hatch.
For me its not a lot of friends that know a lot about cars some of friends sometimes try to pretend that they know, but when I ask them a simple question like What is a cold air intake? or What is the fastest car in the world?
