James C. Letts Porsche have put the fuel tanks in the front of all of their Boxter and Cayman models. They also did the same in all variants of the flagship 911 for over 40 years. The seatbelts were only hurting him because they were making contact with his neck and they were not adjusted properly - too tight.
No brake servos shouldn't make a difference to safety since cars were made without them for many years! You would simply have to apply more pressure to the pedal which for some adds to the experience because more of your efforts would affect how the car drives!
Modern cars are built to reduce the skill level required by the driver. For example electronic handbrakes in Audi's instead of a lever (which allowed for some fun if desired) Second would have to be auto blip on down-changing with modern sports cars instead of the 'heel and toe' technique which personally I take great pride in being able to pull off smoothly and simultaneously all by myself at the same time as steering and braking etc.

This Aygo is made for fun and trackslaying while because its made of 2 cars, and modified alot. Perhaps, it might not beat fancy cars but if you only want commonly favourited car then that means you want a car just to be known. This car's purpose is to let you have fun and happy all year long.

@@happythingswithjohn4203 Stock AE86 is underpowered and slow, and besides being featured in a 90's anime I fail to see its merits. It was reliable as is any Toyota some years ago, before all of the decent ones got swapped, trashed and crashed. In my eyes a Lancia Delta Integrale is a much more iconic car. Qicker, more stylish, more practical and with 6 WRC championships under its belt, which is a top level motorsport and notthing like some teenagers doing doughnuts on a car park. But anyways an Integrale is going now for even more insane prices than an AE86 so I wouldn't buy one either. At least not with money I have worked for. A Lexus sounds more tempting. I guess I am getting older.

Na a much better use of their time would be to update the GT86 with a flat 6 engine, have a supercharged or NA option with about 270NA to 350 HP supercharged. And make an AWD model for rally. Sell it at a tight profit margin so it's affordable and lots of people will buy it. Toyota's reputation will start recovering.

100,000 pounds to have a fully built Aygo? I think most people can make a fully built Aygo for A LOT less money.. maybe that's just me.
I quite like my 2013 Aygo. It was cheap and not terrible looking, had LED DRLs, AC, and electric windows. Basically, it ticked all my boxes except cargo space. It's a proper city car and not exactly designed for highway use. Although I did take it slightly beyond ~140 kph once while visiting Sweden, which was …interesting. Now I have to install a light bar I've had laying around for a while. The high beams are pitiful…
I have the 2012 model and i went in 2 trips from northern germany over the alps to venice and back.
We did venice to paderborn in 14 hours with a few stops and used about 45 liters of gas.
To all of you complaining about it costing 100k, here's some reasoning. Toyota probably wanted to make it somewhat safe to drive (not falling apart instantly) and reliable. Also, if you're large international company, 100k isn't a lot of money to spend on a side project.

I'm surprised they went with the 1ZZFE for this car. This little beast with a turbo 2ZZGE would be proper insane, that's what they should have done. Even my little shitbox Corolla with an almost totally stock 2ZZ pumps out 200hp, and that's NA. The 2ZZ also sounds about a bajillion times better than the 1ZZ, especially when it's on lift and revving over 8k.
This little Aygo would be complete with a 300+hp turbo 2ZZ, screaming it's tits off at 9k.
All that work and no LSD?
I'm a muscle car fan...and even I think this thing is cool! But you can bet your ass I wouldn't pay that much for it.

Great footage as always. This car was clearly made to catch attention and interest rather to get a fast car for the money. Obviously there has been put a lot of effort and money to realize this car. It's not just tuned, it's been made (@ you guys that compare it with supras, gtr's etc).

I know you WILL hate me for this, but I actually don't think that the Aygo is that bad of a car. Yes, the wheels are way too thin. Yes, they're also too small. And yes, it's underpowered. But if you rev the engine to 4000rpm and above the 3 cylinders make a sound which would make many standart 4-cylinder engines jealous. Also, you can get the base model (without climatisation) with about 60000km for approx 3000€. (edit: even less)

Again, there are many, many cars I would prefer to the stock Aygo, but there are also MANY worse cars. You get a rather new car for almost NOTHING. You have a relatively nice sounding engine. You need about 4-5 litres of fuel per 100km.
If you don't have much money this car is THE shit!
I absolutely agree and an aygo will likely still be chugging along after 20 years while any of the luxury cars that guys like this seem to worship will be in a scrapyard.

If it were cheaper and more powerful then i would like this Aygo. Yes sure it is light, and corners as well, but 200hp cant really beat most things. It might be able to beat a stock GT-R R34, but not an R35.
That thing is great. I'd love to be able to drive it. Looks like it might need an LSD though.

This is cool and impresive, but since its a car that has been completly redesing by a man it has his cons. There are things that will never be the same again, like the handling, look how he needs to make a lot of effort to move the wheel, and as he said it have balance issues so in wet this car will crash. But is of course an awesome job.
For 100k i would modify a small Aygo just for fun because i would just want to. Oh wait, this guy did it already.

If you guys read between the lines, you would realize that Toyota probably built this car to experiment with the next mid-rear, compact turbo car that they want to build! They have made MR2's and MR-S's for almost 20 years, they have a lot of experience with mid-rear cars. I wouldnt be surprised to see a 250hp FA20 turbo engine, mid-rear mounted in a compact car! Think about it, the FT86 is the only real "fun" car that Toyota has right now and they are looking for the next step. ALSO, the 2015 Subaru WRX's are powered by a turbo FA20 engine (from the FT86, FRS, BRZ). Toyota is already working with Subaru for their engines, I could see a WRX/STi powered Toyota within 5 years :)

They made the old Group B homologation specials from the 80s. They made the Clio V6. They made the Dodge Hellcat and Demon. I Wish they could make this, but then again, Toyota have rather moved away from that part of the market, as good as the un-modded GT86 and BMW Supra may be. Shame.
This is cool, shame no 107 alternative going round as I own a 107 and it's pretty cool..... People complaining about the price, veyron cost more to build, but unlike Bugatti, this car isn't for sale so they could've spent 500k on the Toyota, still makes no difference overall..
I heard $100k and I immediately called bullshit. This is the type of numbers racing teams and office people with ties throw at you once they calculate costs unrelated to the car, like how much it cost them in eating during the making of the car, how much fuel they spend in Ford T350 tipper to run earrings and collect overpriced parts, how much would have cost them if they didn't had account with metal fabricator and so on (example going to B&Q for steel)
You know somebody cheap out when they spend 100k instead of 200k when you see this car doesn't have solid bushing so the engine and exhaust moves massively when you hit the loud pedal. Worst of all you don't get LSD for 100k so this car is now not wrong wheel drive but 1 wheel drive. And yeah there is body roll I can see it....
£100k cause they chopped a mr2 in half and welded to an Aygo? Some French guys chopped up a EVO4 and welded it into a Peugeot 106 shell off their own back...
Why (SMH)? What a waste of $150,000. This thing is not quick, it's top speed is less than that of a Hyundai Accent, and you can't safely go above 100mph.

You can get a 130hp supercharger conversion kit for the std 3 cylinder 1litre engine, and it makes for a fun car for a lot less than that waste of shit. for that money I'd expect at least 600bhp. lame.

Why don’t car companies make stuff like this anymore? We all need a bonkers thing to look at every now and again, the last one we really had was the Clio v6, dumb this one down a little, add some more weight and sell it!
