There may be other cahnnels out there that are more experienced Mike but none as calming and simple to watch. the way you explain everything is fantastic. Thank you sir.
Rubber gloves, try baby powder on your hands and put a little in the gloves? Works on tires with tubes also. Keeps the tube from folding over. Love the videos.
That looked like it went better than you expected Mike. Filling the holes that have stripped threads with resin, and setting the studs in has always worked for me. I once filled a hole with "Loctite" (for a very temporary fix). It lasted long enough to get me out of trouble. (It did the trick, and that's all you need). By the way: I'm a new subscriber 😂🤣😂💪
Looks great Mike. I’m sure the new owner will be happy with the repair. As for a dabbing motion, since I’m not a great dancer🕺 I’ll go with a tapping motion. 😉
Hi Mike. I was thinking this is a short video, then I looked at the channel name, so there you go. If you should use fiberglass again, take a look at the price for sponge brushes. Have good days!
You ever want to make it interesting find some picture and put it between 2 layers of that glass and it'll be there for ever. Someone did that at an old job I usta work at with the instructor's pic in it and it was hilarious af when she realized what Tom foolary they did 🤣🤣😂
Thumbs up think about WD40 Dry Lubricant. It will be good for not collecting dust but protect from rust and will lubricate those hints points. 😊 looking forward to seeing what’s next. 😊
That was your first time mike? Nice job! That came out great! And yeah having more brushes is what you need!. Using old paint brushes is best you want them kinda hard sort of like a fo brush ! And yeah that stuff sets up fast. It's better to do smaller batches than bigger ones! But great job bro! And always be safe!
I was digging out a ditch with the FEL of my JD compact and as I was backing up, my knee hit the joystick and raised and dumped a load of soil on the hood of the tractor, cracking it in several places. I used Bondo epoxy to repair it but should have used the fiberglass cloth. I also used the epoxy on the top for extra strength. and then sanded and repainted it. I think fine hardware cloth might work like rebar as well as the cloth. I used it to make a guard over my hydraulic lines with epoxy.
If you want to see someone that has a similar low budget process so he also learns “on the job”. There’s a YT channel called Sailing, Good, Bad, and Ugly or GBU. They did a lot of repairs and upgrades themselves which included lots of learning to use fiberglass (structural integrity). Again, not an expert but that never stopped him from letting everyone see…yep you got it, the good, bad, and ugly aspects. You have to go back in time on their channel as the sailboat is complete and they are now exploring some RV realities.
Fiberglassing is pretty easy. The main rule is: clean, clean, clean some more. Just enough resin to saturate the cloth and make it stick where you want it. The cloth is the strong part, the resin is just glue. Do more and you get better. That was a really good job for a first try with the stuff.
Hey Mike the hood on the JD, is it fiberglass or SMC. Sheet Molded Compound. If SMC then fiberglass may not hold long. They make a two part epoxy mix for SMC that will bond if this fails. The two different compounds do not repair the same, but the process is about the same. SMC is what the Corvette is made of in the mid 90's.
Would you please fix my John Deere hood and side panels for me? Lol, I'm kidding of course. Good job Mike.. Now fix, use this stuff for the dump truck!
Great video...my only comment is be very careful when using Acetone on plastic / ABS, it will melt it. That is fine for what you are doing but if you should happen to flip the hood over and try to clean the top surface it would cause irreparable damage. . . ask me how I know. 🙂
The biggest thing to remember when doing fiberglass on something like that is to cut all the mat to fit before you mix the resin, Outside of that you did good, The only way to get through life without making any mistakes is to do nothing, and that is a bigger mistake in the end.
You left the job half done. While you were at it, you should have repaired the ding on the right front corner and then repainted the hood. Appearance will help sell it.
Whoa whoa Mike I can appreciate you trying to get views but when you label things incorrectly I will I just have to say something. That is NOT a popsicle stick it IS a tongue depressor. Mike in this world where we're so willing to mislabel things I would you you of all people would try and be very politically correct 🤔🤔😵💫😵💫🤣🤣🤣🤣🤮🤮
Next: The Cap’n builds a fiberglass Bimini cover for the TH-cam yacht! Stay tuned!
There may be other cahnnels out there that are more experienced Mike but none as calming and simple to watch. the way you explain everything is fantastic. Thank you sir.
Your so right. 👍
Now you know you can do fiberglass! It's fun! Maybe fiberglass roof on the steam boat cabin 😉

Great fiberglass repair great video thanks Mike

That hat you never wear is getting lots more feathers in it. Great videos Mike. Thanks
My first Kleeman episode. Nice to see you are getting out more.
Looks great Mike. I’m sure the new owner will be happy with the repair.

Watching you repair the lid has given me the confidence to repair our meter boxes, for Gas and Electricity, which I have been putting off for year! 🤗
Nice job sir, appreciate the video and your time to record, edit and post.
Excellent as always Mike 👍🇺🇸🇬🇧
Make me smile every time Capt 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thanks for the idea for fixing some fiberglas "huts," take care.
That looks like the same fiberglass repair kit I picked up to patch holes in my old mower deck. I was very satisfied with those results as well.
Fine job. Fiberglass can get pretty messy sometimes. But doe a good job. Thanks
Not bad not bad at all for a fella doing it for the first time. Glad you have sold already.
Great simple video. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Wishing you and your family the best.
great job on the fiber glass for a newbie, as you do more you'll like working with fiber glass, it's easy and usually get good results 👏👏👏👍👍👍👌👌👌
The repair went well it stuck on in the right place.
Glad everything went good. Great video Captain. I bet he'll be happy he doesn't have to fix it lol
Have done a lot of the same on my boat restoration which is coming along nicely nice work I think it’s going to be ok Captain 👍👋🇨🇦
My fiberglass repair is holding up pretty good on the JD X710. Great video! Thanks, Mike
Great video! Awesome looking hood. you did it the same way that the pros do. love watching your videos. :)
Fiberglass could be a good option for some of the dump truck or 555 cab issues🤔

Good information. Thank you
❤ looks awesome
Couldn't have been done better! Can't see any issues from my house.
Nice mike
What’s up with the four wheeler behind you? Looks like it might be a 250 recon. Not something else that might be for sale is it?
Up Next - Making parts out of carbon fiber parts for the 555 😄
Mike if you blow in the glove and puul them on they tend to fit better
now you know
🌞🌟🙄 thanks for sharing
I got a 317 im doing the same thing to.
👍🏻👍🏻

I guess you didn’t hear him say it was already sold without the “repair” and that he did what he did just to try using fiberglass for his first time.
@@Crewsy Yeah, his midwestern dialect is tough on my old ears. I don't catch everything he says.
👍👍💪💪

Probably won't stick permanently.
Plastic welding with a soldering iron.
It's not plastic, it's fiberglass
Nice job for a rookie
