Its fun playing this bit when you're Adaar though as you get a Qunari option to just look as menacing as possible without having to do anything. Dorian will mildly disapprove but it gets you the amulet and makes the merchant nearly shit his pants.
I was so disappointed that he didn't say that they were lovers xD Honestly... the face of my inquisitor was priceless like... "Why?! WHAT are we?! Why are you deny me?" Awww xD
He was never likely to say they were lovers. That's what the "friends" remark implicated. Dorian was trying to avoid the impression that he was involved with the Inquisitor so that the merchant wouldn't try to use him in that way, which was precisely what the man was trying to do. The "he's NOT my friend" was meant to play that down and remove it from the discussion.
For me, the most satisfying scenario is to put off this scene until after Halamshiral, when you have enough influence to call Ponchard out on his B.S., and he'll apologize, grovel a bit, and give you the amulet for free.
I love the f!Inquisitor / Dorian friendship (BFFs) too. But the relationship between Dorian and a m!Inquisitor within Dorians personal quest is something special for me.
@@MakersBreathDragonAge Just curious as to the game's canon, are we to assume if we play as a fem Inquisitor and obviously never get this romance personal quest, is Dorian simply unable to get the amulet back on his own ever?
Whenever I do this quest, to avoid him getting mad at me, I get the note from Leliana's person and go straight to Orlais to get the amulet and don't talk to Dorian until I gift it to him. He's still a LITTLE bit mad, but not nearly as much.
Yeah but if you refuse to do it, but then do it anyway (I just leliana for a temporary acceptance, because f that guy) he dosnt get angry at you at all!
I just love bringing Dorian along for their little married couple argument. They really do fight like a married couple in this scene and I enjoy it so much XD
Uh, I don't remember this scene clearly anymore. What I do remember, however, is that my Qunari inquisitor just gave that merchant a deathglare and he was more than willing to give Dorian back his amulet as a result. Need to replay this badly.
nambnb It works with a qunari and a non mage Trevelyan. The intimidation works also if you blackmailed Gaspard, Celene and Briala into working together for the Inquisition.
Lmfao, witnessed this scene a few days ago with my elven Quizzy. Easy to say I have not regretted bringing Dorian along for a single second. The look the Inquisitor gave Dorian was hilarious.
Really? ...Now that you mention it that makes sense. I've never actually tried to see a form resembling anything in particular in those... things tied to the staff. It's funny now that I can see it. Thx for the input.
I just like how Cassandra and Varric are silently observing the whole scene, lol. This is why if I decide to bring Dorian to the mearchant with me I always bring him alone. There must be some limits for awkwardness.
@@junkouesugi6902 You can still bring Dorian though, because at the end he completely approves even though you intimidatet the guy. Just make sure not to kill him because then Dorian will instantly break up with you if he comes along on the mission... learnt that the hard way
I brought Dorian, Varric and Solas's with me and it was funny when Varric and solas just stood there in the background and looked awkwardly around xDDD it was hilarious hahah
If you wait until after WEWH you can threaten the merchant with your empirical influence. You get the amulet without having to give the sleezeball what he wants!
Don’t know where above comments got their answers but after extensive research into the word/name and it’s usage i found that quite literally, the game writers just thought it sounded sweet and as far as I can tell there is no definition for the worr

The only decent relationship option in DA: I in truth. A gay male tevinter magister. Pretty sure it's set up as one big joke, after basically snubbing the vast majority players of something like Isabela, Merill, or Morrigan(that is to say straight men, which make up 80% or so of the actual player base. Dorian: "he's not my friend, he's..."

Mr. McHanzo bruh I read this and snorted so hard my chest hurts 😂
Ah! I forgot about this comment and just found it again. Brought smiles back to my face. Love it!
"No, no! Go ahead Dorian! What were you going to say?!"
His face is priceless.
The inquisitors look of offense is spot on
His expression sent me into orbit lol
JSHSHSHA his face had me dying
I love the reaction of the male Inquisitor when Dorian is like "He's not my friend he's my..."
And he's all WHAT AM I THEN ahahaha
Dorian just quadrupled the Skyhold Tea with that "he's not my friend" line 😂😂
You know there was some nosy noble/merchant listening in that immediately spread that gossip everywhere.
@@Dunedien and it got to those nobles in Skyhold in 0.001 seconds flat.
According to Josephine, Dorian basically lives to cause drama.
well, kissing in the library isn't going to help, but you know it'll happen, too.
Dorian: "he's not my friend"
Inquisitor: *and I took that personally*
Merchant: "Good thing you have a sugar daddy to get your amulet back for you."
Dorian: "STFU! I love him!"

Dorian: "Uh......Shit."
Lady Marmalade so true

He's not my friend, he is...
Inquisitor :0
I remember I just went by myself and I picked the Trevelyan option.
"Nevermind what he is'" Oh, poor inquisitor... 🤣
He’s his roommate!
I now regret not asking for not taking Dorian with me to ask his opinion, lol.
You should it's good to get his dilog on it. Any Dorian interaction is good.

Dorian: he's not my friend
Inky: IM NOT?!
Actually I kind of avoided all this. I just didn't bring Dorian with me when I went to see about the amulet. Maybe I should have.
I did that once, but the cut scene was weird without him, IMO.
Maker's Breath - Dragon Age I heard that's a popular opinion of this cutscene.

Romancing Dorian with a non-mage Trevelyan is the best, cuz then you can threaten the fuck out of this worm.
HOW CAN I MAKE YOUR INQUISITOR HE'S SO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT! sorry got excited!
liblinhas looks just like mine! Well a bit more mature, more experienced, version!
Took me almost an hour perfecting him.

Why does Dorian have a cat strapped to a pole?
That is one of the best looking male inquisitors I've seen. Typically they look weird.
