@@diezelle57 greetings. It has been 2 weeks since I carried the swisstool and I liked it so much since it feels full size but it has a thin profile and fits perfectly in my pocket. I work at an electrical company though Im not a certified electrician but I help the guys out whenever Im done checking the stocks and inventory. Been using the pliers and wire cutter and splitter most of the time. Its all thanks to you for the time,effort and test you have done to showcase 2 different brands of multitools. Thank you

Siempre me ha gustado Victorinox, siempre llevo una Victorinox conmigo, ...y aunque la swiss tool es increíble, creo que en multiherramientas, Leatherman es mejor. A muchos no les gusta los cortadores reemplazables de Leatherman, pero los cortadores son una herramienta que con el uso se van desgastando y dejan de funcionar cómo deben, para mí si son funcionales y es buena idea poder cambiarlos nosotros mismos, aunque obviamnete debemos comprarlos. La precisión Suiza NO se discute, pero en este tipo de multiherramientas, las leatherman son más robustas y eso se siente al utilizarlas. Soy sincero que tuve la surge... Y aunque tiene muchas ventajas y apertura a una mano, me gusta más la super tool 300,... Sus herramientas son muy básicas pero muy funcionales y aunque también posee un Extensor, de bits, puede realizarse con ella cualquier tarea aunque no tengamos dicho extensor. En la surge y la wave encontramos un intercambiador de bits, pero el mismo es muy ancho y sin el extensor, hay lugares a los que no se puede acceder con facilidad. Por el momento de los modelos de leatherman catalogados, me quedo con la super tool 300, veamos si leatherman la mejora o saca otro modelo nuevo. Which one has better plier and wirecutter? And which multitool has the best plier and wirecutter in your experience? And have you ever test bestween the supertool 200/original vs 300(the replacable plier/cutter makes me think it is weaker than 200/original)?
I got both of these. The victorinox feels better quality overall but the Leatherman isn't bad. If the Swiss tool is made with better wire cutters and replacable it will be the winner.

Hey, do you have any experience in regards of the durability of the pliers? I heard some rumors that Leatherman pliers have a tendency to break. Saw myself some Gerber Suspension pliers which broke. Any data about the Victorinox ones?
No, I have no idea about the robustness of the multi-tool pliers. I am a collector, not a user and I avoid doing destructive tests with such expensive tools! :) Mechanically, it seems to me that the swisstool's grip, more stocky, shorter, must be more resistant. But I think that in order to break the pliers of the Leatherman, Victorinox, Sog or Gerber, we must submit them to insane efforts.

@Rhetorical Answer i have a leatherman surge and victorinox swisstool. Swisstool pliers are more robust then leatherman. Simple Becouse they are thiker. But they dont have a real needlenose pliers as leatherman. globally I prefer the surge. it is more versatile and expandable. it has the bit holder, the interchangeable saw and a much better and replaceable cable cutter. the victorinox cable cutter, with the 2 inlets, deforms immediately and becomes useless for cutting electrical cables with precision. it is only good for cutting hard cables. on the other hand the victorinox is very well built and very finished.
I have the surge and I use it ALOT for pretty heavy work (farm use). I've never broken anything on this particular tool, i find it to be very robust. I did break one of the scales on a charge once, my own fault, and leatherman replacement it for free. I do recall I may have had to pay for some shipping though. All in all, surge is a great tool, if you don't mind the pocket busting size/weight

You have a very early (possibly first run 98/99 Swisstool. It's distinguishing feature for that era is the corkscrew (or lack thereof) drive within the plier housing. Later models were modded to allow that accessory that Vict makes.
Both excellent tools. If I could only choose one tool it would be the Swisstool, but the 300 pairs better with my Spirit since it has some advantages. Mainly the plier heads.
One thing that immediately stood out for me in the Vic was the tool placement. All the tools on ST300, except the screwdriver and Awl are on the wrong handle. That has to do with the lock placement. A way around this is to use the ST with one handle and keep the other handle open. If that is done, then the ST300 or Rebar become much better tools than most of the MTs. The opened handles give a much better grip and the placement of the knife or cutting tools on the upper handles allows for more thumb usage for finer control. Something that can only be done with SAKs. TLDR: ST300 with cutting tools on the upper handles can work better if the handles are open. VIC will work just as it is, in it's closed form, but you will sacrifice some finer control. Winner in this, IMO is the ST300, although it looks hideous compared to the VIC!

@@SteveBlack-kj3pm For the comparison of these two models, there are several important things to consider: - the ST300 has a replaceable wire cutter, - the Swisstool has a wood chisel and scissors on the X model, - the pliers of the ST300 is needlenose, that of the Swisstool is rather bluntnose (more resistant in torsion), - the ST300 will be better equipped for screwing with the bit kit than the Swisstool Plus (Plus = with accessories), - the Swisstool Plus has a ratchet (decoupling function).
Supertool 300 is superior its half the price and just as good in almost all areas and surpasses the Vicotinox in a cpl areas but im American and love American made tools so I am bias

Your swisstool is an older 1998 model,the current ones have altered the pivot and jaws quite a bit.have you tested a newer version?

Let's say that it is possible to insert the corkscrew from the side of the file, between the file and the central metal part; it holds very well.

- the ST300 has a replaceable wire cutter,
- the Swisstool has a wood chisel and scissors on the X model,
- the pliers of the ST300 is needlenose, that of the Swisstool is rather bluntnose (more resistant in torsion),
- the ST300 will be better equipped for screwing with the bit kit than the Swisstool Plus (Plus = with accessories),
- the Swisstool Plus has a ratchet (decoupling function).
From TX USA leatherman 300 hands down I know 25yrs + carrying one
From Australia, I have both and there's no hands down about it!
For me... the replaceable cutters on the super tool are the difference.

Supertool 300 is superior its half the price and just as good in almost all areas and surpasses the Vicotinox in a cpl areas but im American and love American made tools so I am bias
Ça y est, je pense que la solution serait le partenariat. Que chacun réunissent le meilleur d’eux-même pour créer du ”Leathernox” ou bien ”Victoriman”. Pour les noms je déconne...😄
Alors au moins une entente entre les deux fabricants afin d’éliminer toute forme de ”plagiat technique” et que l’on puisse avoir enfin l’outil parfait de l’un ou de l’autre constructeur.
Et je rajouterais une petite cerise sur le gâteau : Modèle final premium avec personnalisation des outils ainsi que choix des matériaux.🤯😂

Just finished watching and i greatly APPRECIATE with what you did on this video from an actual raw test of electrical wires, nails, cables, ridiculous steel cables, zip ties, wood cutting, nut grabbing and actual measurements of the tools and the extra tools and accesories. I am definitely buying the swisstool this tuesday with the mercedes logo on it. I am drawn to its sleek and thin design though i bought the super tool 300 over the swisstool. But this time i will be adding the swisstool to my work tools. This is really great reference material! I think you need another channel named "multi tool academy for scientific research and study". And i suggest you add in your title "actual test comparison with wires,nails,steel wires,wood". You get my point,right? Since this video can help a person decide on what tool he likes by watching the whole thing.

Hello ! I have many multi tools from different manufacturers and I must say I like my Swiss tool the best and yes when it comes to the pliers I agree with you on that .l have had mine now for at least 15 to Twenty years and with hard usage and it still keeps on ticking ! Cheers 👍

Had to login so I could ask this. Is there some kind of animal which is heavily breathing near you or is it you? sounds creepy with all the background sounds. Reminds me playing of Hunt: Showdown with all random voices.
He plays animal or jungle sounds in the background. I for one kinda find it relaxing

Leurs précautions me rappellent ces crétins qui voyaient unanimement une rupture fondamentale entre l'homme et le reste du monde animal, avec les grands singes évidemment.
Rien ne permet de penser qu'une intelligence artificielle ne dépasse un jour toutes les compositions de l'esprit humain en passant par l'imitation parfaite ... qu'il conviendra alors de très vite corriger ! :)
