I just bought one, still being processed. Its the EFS model in grey cerakote finish. I got lucky (I think) on the price. My birthday gift for myself at 67 year old and to add to my modest 1911 collection. I have a Colt 1991, Kimber Custom II, a RIA Pro Match Ultra FS, and now this coming EFS. Just excited 😊. Love your video.👍
Congrats on your birthday present. I'm sure you're going to have a blast with it. It's an affordable 1911 that comes with some great features. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the video. Let me know how you feel after taking it out for a spin at the range and seeing if you like it.
The price point has me sold. It's also the price that's got me a bit reserved. I love the finish, I haven't found anything I don't like about the gun. Thanks man new sub here
I think it's a great gun for what it is and the price it's set at but it also really depends on why and what you are buying it for. For the past couple of years, I have tried to steer myself away from buying new production guns. I have several modern guns that serve the role of self-protection firearms. So my main focus now has been on older guns I find interesting that are going to increase in value as they aren't making them anymore. Anyone can own ten Glocks but passing them down to the next generation isn't the same as saying look this gun was made in 1916 over a hundred years ago for WW1.
@@VintageArmory I'm not a fan of Glock, I do love my M&P 40 but just as you've said. The 1911 is an iconic classic you can pass down for Generations. I love the same rock island you have. I've been chewing on it for a few months now. I think I'm going to pull the Trigger.
Yeah true or you could save up some more money and buy a WW2 1911 I have been seeing some Remington Rands going for decent prices considering the market for them.
The Rock Island has a eight round magazine so if you chambered a round then removed the magazine and added a round it would be an eight round magazine with one in the chamber so a total capacity of nine rounds.
In my opinion, it depends on what you are using the 1911 for. I don't recommend night sights for any gun that has a rail because I think a light is the best option. Is the 1911 the only gun you own?
No, because the night sight would be useless while you have the light on. I can possibly make a quick short for you so it makes more sense. Unfortunately, a decent light is going to be around a hundred dollars, and at that point since the 1911 is your only handgun maybe look into a gun that has a higher round capacity. I don't know what your budget is but to invest more money into a 1911 as a defensive standpoint I don't think makes sense. I love 1911s my first gun was a 1911 but I think setting yourself up with a handgun that has a high capacity for rounds a rail for a light an optic cut slide for a red dot that can be co-witnessed is your Foundation. Then from there once you have your go to gun everything else is adding to the collection.
THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO, IT HELPS TO MAKE UP MY MIND TO BUY A "RIA M1911 ASP"!!!!😊👍👍🤟🤘
I'm glad I could help you. I hope you enjoy it.

When you say plus one with the 8 round is it 7 in the stack and one in chamber or can you squeeze 9 so you have 8 in mag with one in chamber?

I have a basic 1911, do you recommend for night sights, extended safety, grips etc links

I have a 22 a r but 1911 yes my only handgun, I do want a light but also should I combo that with night sights?
