I just got one of these used a few weeks ago and was very happen with the worn look and beat up wooden grips - but after seeing this video - I have some ideas for upgrading it now! Thanks!
I've Ben thinking about doing the same .. I have a Ruger sr.1911 comander... Just didn't know if it would be worth the money but the the quality doesn't look too bad. Thanks for the video think I'm going to give it a try
I just did this to my RIA 9 mm polished all the parts that are stock i didn't get wilson combat parts and i just ordered custom grips from vz grips i also dura coated the frame in kobalt blue but thanks to your video for inspiring me to work on it
Bought one for a Browning Hi-Power. Added rail without making the grip too wide. After shooting I noticed that inside the trigger guard left an opening that rubbed my trigger finger; a little sandpapering fixed. Make sure you check the connecting hardware which can loosen. I actually lost one of the hex nuts.
I absolutely would recomend it, it shoots true I did have to send it in twice unfortunately for loose rear sight and slide not locking after last round but I belive that's from Normal wear because I've put a few boxes through her I would say after break in period approx 4-500 rounds it was very smooth and accurate I also own the tac ultra in .45 same thing I feel very accurate with them.
The CC3H will obviously fit the RIA 1911s but if you want a perfect fit for the RIA FS, go with the CC3P. They made a new version just for those that not require any trimming at the top like what was done here. They didn’t realize this until after I ordered my CC3H. 😊
I thought about getting these grips for my 92FS. I've heard there is a bit of sag towards the front where the rail would be. Even heard some people mentioning the grips interfering with the slide release and takedown lever.
At the beginning of this video I was apprehensive but stayed to the end and it looks good but how does it function all in all not bad for a cheap gun upgrading I got a Tisas that I'm thinking of upgrading definitely dig the wilson combat upgrades.
Just regular gun oil. Hardened steel doesn’t rust very much at all. This one has never rusted. As long as it’s kept inside and a thin layer of gun oil is left on it, it will last forever.
A thin layer of oil is fine. No matter what these other guys are saying on here. Hardened steel does not rust very easy. If you put a thin layer of oil on it and keep it inside your house, it will never rust.
I really want to buy this RIA 1911 for years already and pimp it like this. But it is expensive cant afford. 😅 Someday i will save some money for this. If lucky this might be my first gun to ever own as newbie. 👌
Sir,. I have RIA 1911 GI, just like this.. Just want to ask, after sanding the slide,. In your experience, how many months b4 rust appears? Please give me a reply, coz im planning to do the sanding ASAP,.

for installing the trigger and hammer, did you have to do any tuning? I got a trigger as a gift and was wondering if it was alright to install (as far as reliability goes).
@@HiRevzMedia Okay, I've heard people mentioning, messing with the FCG could cause some reliability issues. I tried to look it up, wasn't able to find anything that addresses this directly. Yea I'm going to take my time to sand it properly and making sure the fitment is perfect.
Have you had any issues with rust under the plastic just curious if it would make the metal sweat or if it built-up moist between the plastic and metal
Wanted to but all the parts but most of em are out of stock, you think it wud look weird if i just sanded down the slide? Its scuffed up a little wud like to get rid of that
THE PRICE YOU SPENT IN UP GRADE IS EQUAL TO 2 GUNS OF RIA 45GI ACP, WHY NOT SETTLED & BUY BEFOREHAND A PTT TAURUS 45 ACP GOODLOOKS, GOOD QUALITY,RELIABLE AND DURABLE!
Because I already owned a Taurus 1911 and a Wilson Combat, a Nighthawk, 3 Kimber’s and 4 other 1911’s. So why not play with this one. The Rock Island is a great platform to build on, and I don’t have near as much in it as you think I do.
Did you have to do any custom work to the grips in order to get the stainless steel magazine well installed i bought one but now my G10 grips have a massive gap so looking to get the tactical grip set up you got if it bypass that issue
Just seen this on sale for 350 I might do that slide polish. My only complaint about the rock gi is that it's not that pretty looking. But that sand paper took care of that! Will I have to clean it any differently after?
Had the recover rail and holster and would not recommend for any kind of duty use at all and their customer service was absolutely horrible but to each their own
I always use Wilson combat mags and Tripp research in my llama mini max I’ve had it since my 17th birthday in 07 it’s got alot done to it I’ve prob put 50-60k thru it by now I am on my 2nd barrel
Those mods really transformed this budget 1911. You can get them for $300 right now at sportsman. Grabbed one and going to price up the mods tonight!

Good video man bring a old design back to life

That’s AWESOME!!!
Love the look of the slide after that gun kicks butt
Kind of a Cool concept for a certain market. For me, the look of the basic 1911 is badass and makes a statement. But, that's just my opinion.
Me too, I like the plain Jane GI look where the parkerizing is worn. But I am old school at 67 years old.

Blue loc tight on all firearms screws
@@alexisbelle5535 This. Every accessory on a firearm should be secured with loctite.
I dig the customization! One suggestion would be to add a compensator. Really takes the recoil to near nothing. Shot flat.
dang thats pretty dang awesome. i thought about doing something similar. very cool to see your customization.
Thank you!!!
Looks great!!!
good job I did everything but the polish job and I also purchased several Wilsom Combat 10 round mags I slapped on olight on there of course
Awesome
How does it shoot do you recommend it
I absolutely would recomend it, it shoots true I did have to send it in twice unfortunately for loose rear sight and slide not locking after last round but I belive that's from Normal wear because I've put a few boxes through her I would say after break in period approx 4-500 rounds it was very smooth and accurate I also own the tac ultra in .45 same thing I feel very accurate with them.
Looks great . I'm gonna do something to my .45
Man that look awesome!!! Great video
Looks funny on the bigger models it’s a good fit on the compact models👍
Threw a Valkyrie Dynamics comp and a TLR-1 on mine,
Mind blown. Awesome job
What kind of oil did you use on the slide. Keep rewinding but did understand. Awesome 1911 by the way
Just regular old gun oil

Damn... Same exact gun and I'm planning to do the same exact project to it. Sucks we have that gun ban coming in a couple of months in the PH
Will it work with a compensator

Could you say again what the red liquid was you used? And now that the slide is bare unprotected metal how are you protecting it against rust?
Just regular gun oil. Hardened steel doesn’t rust very much at all. This one has never rusted. As long as it’s kept inside and a thin layer of gun oil is left on it, it will last forever.
Will this work on a double stack officers model?
Yes I believe so, check here: alnk.to/6bTxLiI
Would be nice if these grips were made for Rock Island Armory M1911 A .380 Baby Rock
Possibly, check out the link here: alnk.to/6bTxLiI
Will that work for a 1911 with ambi safety's as well?
Possibly, check out the link here: alnk.to/6bTxLiI
What about the sights? The most important thing to upgrade.
Did you add any treatment/chemical after the sandpaper to beef up the shine? Is there a need to apply any metal protection?

On sale for 350 right now
How you do that to the slide 😮 what r the requirements to achieve that
I might of missed it but what oil did you use when sanding it down ?
Just regular gun oil
@@HiRevzMedia gotcha thanks bud !
What is the name of the product? You used to polish the slide 7:05
Just regular old gun oil.
Did you have any trouble getting the trigger to fit?
The passive stub on my holster is stuck in place so I gotta figure out if I can shave it down or remove it.
Dod you have to remove material on grips for the magwell?
Will that work on the rock island 1911 A1?
Yes, this is on a Rock Island 1911 A1 here in the video.

i have a rock island 1911 A-2 GIFS double stack 45. will the gip fit???
This is pretty awesome.
Came out bad ass!
Would love to do this my 45! Any tips or suggestions for the build? It's also a GI Standard
what did you use exactly to change the finish on the slide, was it just acetone and sand paper?

Man that's bad ass!
for installing the trigger and hammer, did you have to do any tuning?
I got a trigger as a gift and was wondering if it was alright to install (as far as reliability goes).
It is alright, but it will probably need some adjustment, a little sanding down to make it slide perfectly.

What magazine can I use on this gun? I want to upgrade my stock one to a bigger one.
Have you had any issues with rust under the plastic just curious if it would make the metal sweat or if it built-up moist between the plastic and metal
Will these grips fit on the RIA FS HC .45? The double stack one?
No, these will not fit a double stack gun.
Are there any inside the waistband Kydex holsters that are compatible with this?
I don’t think so, you would have to buy one and heat it up and reform it.
How's the holster ride and feel How is the retention. Is it floppy and bulky firm and bulky or firm middle of the road. The retention is it secure.
I'm copying yours! Sorry, lol. Wife just ordered the grips and holster, now I am on Wilson Combat page looking for all the accessories. 😉
Nice setup 👌🏾
wow ganda
If that didn't make me remove my Pachmayer grips I would think about it.
Now it’s as big as a desert eagle with the power of a 38 plus p lol idk bout that
After having for a while how do it shoot how do u feel about it after the upgrades really thinking about doing this
It’s absolutely amazing. It definitely needed this to be an outstanding pistol.
Would this fit the rock island 10mm double stack?
my exact same question...
No it wont
Possibly, check out the link here: alnk.to/6bTxLiI
So beautiful
Did you have to fit the parts or did they just drop in?
What was the name of the liquid you used to to break down the ceracote ?
No liquid, just sandpaper and gun oil for lubrication, like wet sanding.
These RIA 1911's are parkerized which is actually fairly thin and not too hard to break down using this method.
Do you have any 1911 sight upgrades you’d recommend been struggling to hit much with the GI sights on my rock island
Yeah i just bought the Springfield Ronin series and skipped the plastic coverall thing with 1600.oo added to it...mine is definitely cooler
😂 agreed, my Nighthawk Predator with the rail only adds an extra $3800
Just picked up my first ria 1911 a1. Can you change the sights in it? They are the same sights as yours!
I bought one for my .45 Kimber stainless 2, I’m about to get some Wilson Combat mags, Kimber’s are not the best🙁
Kimbers are great. Their mags are trash. Can't believe that's still the case.
Really nice

how long did you sand the slide down to get the polish the way it was
Le puse un cover asi a una Browning Hi Power pero no encuentro funda que le quede

That's an impressive transformation! How much total do you have invested?
Less than 6 hund
And thank you!

Don't forget the loctite screw lock.
Beautiful
Great idea,,
Nice
Thank u
polymer ?
Dudes intro is from a need for speed game
Yup, ProStreet Baby!!! Awesome game, it’s actually been changed a little bit though.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Adding a pic rail to a 1911 is sacrilegious
I think not
Had the recover rail and holster and would not recommend for any kind of duty use at all and their customer service was absolutely horrible but to each their own
Is there a extended mag for the Llama1911
I always use Wilson combat mags and Tripp research in my llama mini max I’ve had it since my 17th birthday in 07 it’s got alot done to it I’ve prob put 50-60k thru it by now I am on my 2nd barrel
Need for speed prostreet intro lol nice 👌🏽
😊
It went from looking plain, to looking badass and practical, to looking stupid. Nice.
I really dislike watching one handed fumbling
Maybe it will help him improve his one handed shooting technique 🤔
That is the strangest crybaby remark I've heard in this entire video's comment section
Sorry couldn't watch it all converting a 1911 into a Tupperware tactical POS was more than I could bear
Ok boomer
Dudes on here complaining about a 300 gun, it’s not like I did it to my Nighthawk or Wilson, lol.
It's not permanent fudd
It’s okay grandpa we get it you don’t like plastic and you can’t admit 45 AARP is outdated 😂
Dude... it's literally just a grip.
You took something that was perfect and made it ugly
Id rather buy 3 hi points
Well I guess it's a good thing nobody's making you buy this or those
I would rather buy a SAM Thunderbolt 1911 9mm than this
That shit is junk
Why is it that everybody reviewing this holster is saying "uuuuhhh" all the time? Just talk.
What's wrong with you? I mean sure it's a little annoying but it's just something that people do and have done since the dawn of time
Looks like a toy gun
What the hell kind of toy guns do you own? I never had any toy guns that looked anything like this
1:30 “Made in Israel” 😂 I’m out 🤥
SO its israeli >((( Ill pass then
???WHO IN HIS RIGHT MIND WOULD TRADE A 45 for a 9mm, VERY DUMB!!!
Weird, who did that?
that plastic bs is ugly. get a mr07 if you want to run a light.
