    I clean my 1911's on my porch just under where my flag is waving, love every minute of it. Rock island makes good firearms, especially their 1911's. I'm kinda frugal so I don't spend a lot of money on firearms, even new ones. I a budget minded individual who loves a good deal and I think rock islands are a very good deal.

      I love the gun too! I just released a video on 1911’s are great guns if you want to check it out! I am also more budget minded and I think Rock island Armory delivers great quality for a great price!

    Good looking RI. Looks nicer than my plain jane model. I think they are great pistols for the money. No hiccups from mine so far. Since you like 1911's, might I recommend the GSG 1911 22lr. I love the one I have. It too has been very dependable for me. Thanks for the video.

      I was looking into those, and still may pick one up, but ended up going with a Taurus TX22 for now. Figured if I wanted a 1911 I wanted to start out with a .45acp version.

    I have the same gun I had some 3 dot sights put on it. My gun guy marred the finish and painted it. Looks great

    I picked up one of these last year. Only about 350-400 rounds through it but zero issues so far. Only complaint I had were the grips. they were very aggressive and the cuts were particularly sharp, a few minutes with some 200 grit sandpaper and good to go.

    • @sonofaboomer
      @sonofaboomer  ปีที่แล้ว

      The grips are pretty aggressive. I usually wear gloves so it doesn’t bother me, but I can definitely see how it could others! Love the gun as well and have had no misfires in the few hundred rounds I’ve put down range

    Wilson Combat sells them in a 3 pk for approx $99 on Brownnellls. They also carry the ext mag version

    I have the exact same 1911, it's a great shooter like all Rock Islands. The only complaint I have is the grips on mine were really sharp, so much so that I would compare them to a wood rasp, this may be a simple Q.A. thing and unique to mine. I'm also sure there will be those that will say "wear shooting gloves" well I'm not some mall ninja that wears full tactical gear when I got to the range. With a little sanding of the sharp points it's easily one of the best 1911's I've ever owned.

    • @sonofaboomer
      @sonofaboomer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine are definitely aggressive as well. I’ve considered sanding them down a bit as well, but haven’t done so yet. I don’t think it’s unique to you, so don’t worry! :)

    Rock island and Tisas best bang for your buck in 1911! I’m so impressed with Tisas! Now only if my canik mc9 would run 😂 on my second mc9 and still have out of battery issues so canik I would not recommend

    • @sonofaboomer
      @sonofaboomer  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Haven’t tried Tisas, but have heard good things about them! Sorry to hear about your Canik. I’ve owned the tp9 and now the rival and both have been incredibly reliable for me.

      @@sonofaboomer yeah I’m speechless about the canik! I know they make good firearms but this mc9 isn’t working out! I’ll
      Stick with my shield plus when I carry 9mm.
      My buddy has the rival S I think it is and man that thing is nice! Like I said I’m lost for words. Tisas makes a M45A1 and that will be my next purchase! Clone of the 1911 the marines carried I believe

      @@sonofaboomer well what’s crappy is this is a brand new mc9 canik sent to me! I’ll run 500 rounds through it and if I get more than a handful of issues I’ll have to part ways. It’s over sprung is my guess! Maybe I’ll have to go down the rabbit hole and get a new recoil and extractor spring

    Pretty sure I had an airsoft one of these too. It was more powerful than the airsoft rifles we had 😆

    • @sonofaboomer
      @sonofaboomer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same haha! And for some reason even the spring versions of it were typically more powerful than most of the comparable spring pistols that were based of off other designs. Good ol’ airsoft keeping the love for the 1911 alive amongst the younger generation.

    I HATE skeletonized! I actually think such a design is an ID-10-T design error. Any one of those holes, in the trigger or hammer, could be accidentally or intentionally blocked thereby causing the functionality to fail. Can you imagine a small rock, piece of leather, or whatever other kind of junk getting caught in one of those holes, preventing the functionality!? Or how about a nefarious person who happens to somehow get a hold of the gun, and then putting a lock through the hole on the hammer or trigger? How are you going to pull the trigger then? How's the hammer going to function with the extra weight and dangling lock? Nope, I really think that the entire industry needs to do away with skeletonized triggers and hammers! It's a design flaw just waiting for the right set of circumstances to come and screw it up for someone trying to save their lives with the pistol. And it doesn't have to happen a thousand times, all it takes is one time in an important situation especially if it's happening to you! They might look cool, I'll give you that, but I think they're completely dangerous as far as functionality goes.

    • @sonofaboomer
      @sonofaboomer  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ve never had any of those issues, nor has anyone I’ve talked to who owns one, but if that’s something you’re really worried about, I suggest getting one that’s not skeletonized. One of the nice things about 1911’s is their customizability! :)
