I’ve just come across you in my feed & was absolutely fascinated with your video. Although I have used coins all my life, I didn’t realise just how many different ones there were. I’ve never really looked at them closely before. You’ve certainly got me hooked now. My favourites of the ones you showed was the slave trade & the Mary Rose. I've actually somehow got the N. Ireland commonwealth games coin. Got it in change a few years back but didn't realise how rare it was at first. The star on the flag is hard to make out without a magnifying glass but it's definitely there.

What metals are found in a two pound coin?
The coin consists of an outer yellow metal nickel-brass ring made from 76% copper, 20% zinc, and 4% nickel, and an inner steel-coloured cupro-nickel disc made from 75% copper, 25% nickel. The coin weighs 12 grams (0.42 oz) and is 2.84 centimetres (1.12 in) in diameter.

Hi I have a query! I have a Mary Rose £2 coin and it has no inscription on it? How much would that be? I looked it up on the internet and it said that no errors had been filed by the mint?

I have a 1998 Isle of man two pound coin with racing cars on,the edge of the coin is plain with no inscription,the front has Isle of man,the three legged symbol and Elizabeth 2nd,has it any extra value,I've never seen another before?
This video came up in my video to watch so gave it a w@tch and it was just what I needed so I’ve subscribed I’ve been collecting coins for years just as and when I get them in my change and I’ve hundreds when I had a Quick Look counting them at face value I nearly hit a grand in value so this video came at me at the right time thank you very much I will be saving this .

The gunpowder plot coin has an inscription error, some call it a coincidental occurrence due to wear and tear. The error has the first word REMEMBER showing as PEMEMBER instead.

Very good video and very informative well done, I have all of these every one twice , one set with the edge inscription the right way up one set with the inscription up side down, I also have an anti slavery with the wrong edge inscription unfortunately not found the opposite one yet, and before you say anything NO I won’t be holding my breath, keep up the good work.

I have a strange £2 coin, which looks like it's a dull, kind of, brass metal.
It's got a Scottish Saltire & Thistle on the back.
Have you any knowledge of this one?
On the technology coin or any coin is it normal some the transcript is written on the edges meant to be the sam w way up?
I think the WW1 Royal Navy coin is based on 1of the 5 Revenge Class (Dreadnought) Battleships.
Certainly not HMS Belfast as some people advertise on ebay, since she wasn't constructed until well after WW1.

Hi Neil. No, the edge inscriptions are rolled on to the blanks first. Then they are put back into the hopper before the coin is minted. So it's 50/50 which way up the edge inscription will be.

Just wanted to say thank you for this vid, I had commonwealth flag coin but I though it was the England one but taking a closer look at my one the top line of the flag has a bump that I think is the crown. The line across is thick too so I am very sure I got the northern ireland one.

Is the edge inscription always readable when the obverse is up or can it occur when reverse is up?
Hi Alan. The edge inscription is minted onto the blank first. Then they go back into the hoper ready to be minted. So it's 50/50 which way it will fall into the press. Hence the inscription could be either way.
