    I am not a professional nail technician. I am a self-taught DIYer who has been dipping since October 2016 and did gel manicures prior to that.

    Oh, I love that cuticle pusher! It’s almost like a spatula 😂 I need it!

    I use sparkle & Co peel base. I have found doing 3 coats works for me. I get a good week out of my mani. Even with 3 coats I usually have to chip it off, it never comes off in a full peel. I could prob get longer out of it, but I get bored. 😂

    Thanks for the info! I used to use UNT and then have been trying others, but no peel base quite measures up! I will try Holo Taco next!

    I used revel nails clean slate peel base, it works but it contaminated my dip liquids. I even waited 20 minutes for it to dry before i dipped 😩

      @KatesNailKorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that. I tried Revel's peel base and it wasn't a good experience for me either. I'm sorry it ruined your dip liquids!

    I have heard that about UNT also, I have tried out Virgo &Gems peel base, it's pretty similar for me.

      Yes, I had a similar experience with V&G and will talk about it in my upload coming this weekend I believe.

    I use layer of builder gel on my natural nail for protective layer and want to try peel base. I usually lightly file my BG first then start with dip base for better adhesion. To use peel base do I apply it on top of BG without filing and let dry then proceed with dip base?

    • @KatesNailKorner
      @KatesNailKorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes... that's correct. No need to buff (though you can also buff your BG under peel base). Just know that the better adhesion you were working towards won't be there anymore... peel base isn't meant for longevity of wear.

    Hi! So I’m new to this and I have a question. I want to use dip to strengthen my nails and have gel polish on top. How would I remove the gel polish without removing the dip powder underneath? Also, if I were to use gel tips/builder with gel polish, how do I remove the polish without removing the tips/builder? Thank you!!

    I remove the same way as you do :) How do you fix a gelly tip that is lifting? do you remove the tip completely and re-apply a new one? Or is there a way to fix without removing? thanks!

    • @KatesNailKorner
      @KatesNailKorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the lift is at the cuticle line I file it down and fill as needed… if it is towards the free edge of my mail sometimes i risk sealing it in with gel, but typically I remove it and reapply to avoid any moisture getting in there.

    Hi! I have a dip with tips manicure. Can I use this method or do i need to have them soaked off with acetone ? I had them professionally done and don't know what jelly tips are lol

    Thank you so much for this video! How many layers of peel base do you use over your gelly tips and/or builder gel? I’ve been using Sparkle & Co.’s peel base and I think I like it even more than UNT. 🤗

      I just use one layer... I'm so glad you have a peel base you love, it's a game changer.

    Your videos are so so helpful! When you apply new peel base, do you put that right on the gelly tip or do you apply a top coat before you apply peel base?

    • @KatesNailKorner
      @KatesNailKorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delayed reply. Thank you for the kind words! You can apply peel base directly to gelly tips or glossy gel top coat, it's totally up to you and your personal preference. :-) I find my peel base hangs on a bit longer over gelly tips directly and pops off faster over gel top coat.

    Does the peel base come off during the dip removal? How many times can you re-dip over full jelly tips?

    • @KatesNailKorner
      @KatesNailKorner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The peel base is removed in the dip removal process, yes. Good question. I redip over the same gelly tips for months sometimes. I do fills as they grow out, basically smoothing the transition from the tip to my natural nail and applying gel base and gel top over the entire surface. I’ll try to film a fill soon.

    I have tried pop off from triple D and I apply 2 layers and it still will not come off! I truly struggle with certain things.
    1. Peel base , applying it after my BG because it all comes off altogether for some reason
    2. Trying to understand how to file and buff so my nails look gorgeous like yours.. I always watch your videos but I can't get it right .

    • @KatesNailKorner

      I have tried multiple peel base brands, some of my girlfriends wear the same overlays on their nails and a different peel base works for them. I think it can have a very varied experience based on the climate we live in, the PH of our bodies and even our day to day activities. I know that's not super helpful, but just to say sometimes it takes a few tries to find the brand that works the best for you. I'm currently on the hunt for a backup in case UNT discontinues.
      Filing and buffing is the hardest part. I still finish a mani sometimes and am frustrated that the shape isn't right or the dip seems uneven... Just be patient with yourself and remember, nothing is perfect. Pictures are an illusion and there are imperfections in every mani I do. No one looks at it as closely as you will on your own hand. To everyone else you have a perfect mani, so take a look through their eyes and enjoy!
