Here is my best method for dip removal. After buffing off top coatl: 1) rub Vaseline around nails 2) soak small piece of cotton with acetone and place on each nail 3) wrap tightly with foil 4) place hands in EMPTY ziploc bag 5) place hand in bag into bowl of hot water and soak for 5 minutes. This reduces amount of acetone needed, is super fast and isn't so harsh on hands and nails.

Just some tips for next time for a better experience 😊 (coming from a nail tech in training):
prep your sanding band by filing the edge a little bit with a hand file to help prevent you from cutting yourself.
File from cuticle to free edge in one direction rather than going back and forward. (this makes it feel less uncomfortable and quicker to remove)
When going around the cuticle go from right to left (if right handed) or left to right (if left handed) in singular motions . Again, never go back and forward.
And if your using your right hand, put it in forward mode and if your using your left hand, put it in reverse mode.
    Hope this helps!

My heart hurt when you used your glass tool on the dip powder!! When using the nail drill, keep the barrel of the bit as close to the body of the drill as possible, as it keeps it more stable. I've always found it easier to go up and down the nail, rather than across. This is incredibly hypocritical of me, but I feel conflicted about you using nail care enhancements. You are my natural nail idol! However, I support You doing whatever you want to do. Even if you go into full on fakes, I'll still love you! Xxx ps I do really love the longer videos!! Xx

Hi Carol! Thank you so much for sharing. I always look forward to the feedback ❤️ I know 😭 I will *never* put my glass tools up to that nonsense again 🤕 and yes! Up and down is much safer 😅
No worries, I noticed that as we got further into natural nail care, there were a lot of peeps asking about dip powder in particular. And since I don't like speaking on things I don't know about, I figured this would be an awesome opportunity to help someone decide if the experience of dip powder as a whole would be helpful or hurtful for their natural nail growth journey. And we love a full circle moment 😍 as long as the natural nails can go back to normal after a particular type of nail enhancement, we have something amazing to celebrate! Thank you so much for your support, and as far as longer videos, heard! ❤️

Over quarantine I started doing dip powder nails, and it used to take me forever to remove even with a mandrel band. I started using a carbide safety bit (so the one with the rounded end), and that took it down much faster! It definitely took some practice to control the drill on a high speed with such a powerful bit, but it allowed for much less soaking time afterwards :))

I did this methods since my nails were brittle and flaky, they were even before dipping them, I can't have them too long because they will crack easy. Especially after having my nails dipped.
I tried nail strengthening polish and my nails are still thin and break easy if they get too long. I don't know what else to do. It's been two months that I have been trying to repair the extra damage from my dipped nails. Sadness. Your natural nails are gorgeous! BTW
Another tip: add olive oil, to help moisturize from the Acetone use!

Hi Judy :) definitely try it out! For the heads up, I tried the acetone and hot water without sanding the top layer first, and i literally made a whole goopy mess, plus the acetone evaporated *twice* because it was hot and wasn't able to get the dip powder all the way off. If you'll do the acetone and water trick, make sure you've prepped first. We don't want to expose ourselves to acetone longer than we have to 🤕😂❤️

Quick Question, is it possible to get dip powder nail color to adhere without buffing the top of the nail with a file or drill file. I ask this because I like dip powder but cringe when ever my nails are filed so that the dip will adhere. Yours look fine so is that step a myth or is it necessary?

I wear dip daily and remove/reapply it myself every week. I SWEAR by the plastic bag method. It takes 10 minutes tops. Just fill a plastic bag with acetone and put the bag in hot water. Add a paper towel to the bag to rub the product off as it soaks. Put your hand in the bag and close it around your hand to keep the heat in. Literally I don't have to drill or file at all (unless I use a gel top coat).

    • @Hairitage93
