I had a coffee for a good friend who just turned 80. You wouldn’t know it looking at her. She still works as a tour guide for a travel agency. I got out out my cute china I bought in England at Fortnam & Mason over the years, had pretty teacups and a floral display. It was so pretty and the ladies enjoyed it. She deserved a special luncheon.
Don't you love the sound of china being set. It turned out beautiful. I had a surprise Christmas lunch for my girlfriends. They were coming for coffee but I had my table set with our Wedding china and silver. It was so much fun. Wishing you and your family a wonderful and Blessed Easter. your friend Joyce

I do! Sometimes I’m subtly criticized for it, but I do it anyway. I was told I really “put on the dog” at the last tea party I hosted. I’d never heard that expression before, but apparently it’s similar to being fancy.

You are correct. Knife blades in. The rules are the same. People choose to ignore them or they simply arent paying attention.

The table was colorful and inviting. I like the use of different patterns of china. I agree that the knife blade should face the plate. In addition, the napkin is to be placed on the fork side.
My mother was obsessed with etiquette! What can I say! 😂

Mrs. B here. Glad you brought it up about the knife blade. I heard that this goes back to medieval times to show a friendly setting so the sharp side of the blade is not ready to harm your guest sitting next to you. Have you heard anything like that?

I only know I was always told to correctly lay the knife with the blade towards the plate 🍽️.

What a lovely table for Easter, tulips and all! Good luck on the renovations. We are finishing up our laundry room and the worktop has its first coat of Osmo Oil, and it is chaotic. But I know in the next day or so it will finally be done, and we'll enjoy it. Your kitchen is going to be so beautiful with that wonderful floor.

The dishes are pretty and since the table is so small, I see why you are putting the tea cups into the center of the plate instead of to the right side. But just to help you out....the napkin always goes on the left side of the plate and, the sharpe side of the knife faces inward. All dishes and silverware are placed about one knuckle down using the thumb from the edge of the table. Happy Easter.
That’s so pretty! Gives me inspiration, I like doing the food but the table not so much. I have my own tulips this year!! They keep multiplying. I understand the chaos because we did that when the kids were all home . I’m impressed you found a spot to do a pretty table for us!!

Your dishes are so BEAUTIFUL…I love the different patterns but match so well and your Bohemian crystal glasses are so PRETTY!!!…I saw your collection from an earlier video with your decanters and just feel in love with them…I happen to go into one of our second hand store which is a consignment shop they had some of those glasses there which were gorgeous but she wanted $55 a glass…UGH!!! I wanted them so bad but, just couldn’t do it…I also saw the little ones there too but, cannot remember what she had for prices on those…but they are BEAUTIFUL and loved the etching…as I go into that shop once in a while I always look for them to see if they are still there and maybe one day…WHO KNOWS…😊HAPPY EASTER TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY…
What an amazing collection of dishes, styles, patterns, colors.... cut crystal goblets... Be still my heart. I was wondering do you ever really use these beauties with your large family... or are they reserved for tea parties or ladies luncheons? I love a tablescape and have one every day of the year in some form or another. The seasonal ones are my favorite. And blue and white with tarnished patina silver is my go to everyday look with cobalt blue goblets. Thanks for the inspiration.

According to my English In-laws: the blades of knives are placed inwards. No hesitation just a quick and pointed answer. I'm a un polite colonial. It out it where ever it want. It's clean, sharp, ready to use ;-)

Angelia I worked with a man who had a tic he would jerk his head, I watched him drink a lot of coffee everyday.I told him to cut back on the caffeine if he wanted to stop the tic. Well he cut way back, then stopped coffee. His tic went away , really.this may help your shaking, I hope so.

Yes we do. They get damaged from time to time, but such is life.
