The chairs came out great and I completely agree with you on the rug color not working, your new choice with the warm red will be perfect! Thanks for sharing!
That Singer box took me back to my youth. I am sure it is a sewing machine as my grandmother and mother had a very similar one. Unfortunately as I emigrated many years ago, i never knew what ever happened to these old belongings of theirs. But good to have memories rekindled. Another great video tks
I have done this so many times. You have an idea in your mind and when it all comes together, it doesn’t look like you thought it would! Frustrating! It’s going to be beautiful when you are done! I have a lot of tools..I love being able to get what I want and know right where it is!
Can you try Restora Finish on the chairs?...it's much easier than refinishing. They don't look too bad on camera. if the rug had some more red in it it would compliment better with the chairs..
This! Restor a Finish is THE BEST for reviving tired furniture. I think would be great on the chairs and cabinet. Finish with more Howard's Feed n Wax and will be amazing!
LOVED how the chairs came out! The fabric you picked was *chef's kiss* I actually wasn't mad at the rug, but you're seeing it in person, in your true light. If you don't love it, back it goes!
I just found your channel and was glad that you aren’t loving the new rug because I had similar thoughts so that’s really when I knew I would enjoy your channel. Hello from central Florida
The rug isn't bad, but if you don't love it, then change it if you can. I too save things like fabric from old chairs. I'd find the best piece and frame it. Your furniture is beautiful! Reminds me of what my oma had! Danke for sharing!!
Paint everything white..it will brighten the room..I did...my china, (also put lights in it)...dining table set and it's beautiful... It gave the room another look!!!And the treasure chest...(both) you have there ( each a different color)....yellow...mustard...pale blue or whatever color you like and paint some decoupe on it..birds..flowers...butterflies etc....you'll love it!!!!
If you leave the stapler flat on the wood, it works better. Pressure counterpressure. Looks fabulous like everything you do and I adore your kitty foreman making sure all is done correctly lol.
I’m in love with your living room! I personally thought the contrast between the white on the rug and the warm tone on your furniture pieces was beautiful. Thank you for your inspiration as always💜
I've had to return things some times because the final outcome did not turn out the same as the vision I had. It's not a big deal. When it's something that you will have for years, it's better just to make the switch because it will never feel right. Whenever I make a big change I always keep telling myself, emember, you can always repaint, replace, or whatever if you don't like it. Then I can just jump in. It will be a beautiful outcome. Love the chairs!
Ich war kurz davor zu fragen ob Sie aus Deutschland oder Nordische Länder sind. Herrlich also aus Deutschland. Habe immer in der Oberschule kein Englisch reden wollen, wegen dem Akzent. Bei Ihnen hört es sich an wie Heimat. How great that we can hear from were we came. Gottes Segen für Sie und Ihr Haus !
You did a nice job on the chairs. Do you have any padding on them? You could try Milsex on your wooden furniture it works great on any wood. My mother used it and I love what it does to the furniture. You can find it at Lowe's. First time watching. Have a blessed week! 🙏♥️🌴
I had already gotten rid of carpet before dogs, and then my dogs encouraged me to get rid of all rugs that can’t be washed. I am fine without them and this choice saves me $$$ too. I think it would be pretty to add a textile on top of your trunk to create some contrast with the wood
I dont even have a dining room, can't afford one . Please be happy, everyone, and count all the blessings that God gave us and still give us . I praise His Holy name.
Wow! Just found your channel and am surprised to see your library chairs! I have one of these as well. I always see more on marketplace, but they don’t match. It would be so cool someday to reupholster both and have two in the same fabric, instead of just one
Love what you did and I agree with you concerning the rug. It is pretty but it is to bright. You have excellent taste and are so creative but until you see it in person many times it doesn't work out. The problem is the photographs and trying to get to the true color value even in today's technology can be difficult. Know I am preaching to the choir "Me" , lol at myself. Love the dark red fabric on the dining room chairs as well as the piece of furniture from your grd-father you brought over from Germany. Gorgeous. Looking forward in seeing your lovely updates on home and cooking. Thank you
Do you know anything about the history of your table? We just purchased one that is very similar. Your leaves are more contoured than ours, but the basic top & base are so similar. My husband is currently refinishing it & I'm very excited to have it. I truly love the table & would love to know the history on it. We tried looking up the marks that were on it & came up with nothing.
I love your house, but I’m interested in the bread starter. I need some answers. I got the pod and now I’m going to try my hand out the bread I bought starter from a bakery down the street from me. I guess I take it out the day before and then just throw it in the flower hopefully it comes out
My twin sister died a few years ago. She left me so much… including a sewing machine. I have never worked a sewing machine. I think I will try a project. It’s going to be either cushion covers or a suite of clothes for my husband. OK, I will start with cushion covers. X
Nice! A sewing machine is so useful and fun! Hope you‘ll give it a try. Cushion covers are pretty simple but I also have some easy sewing projects (mostly on my blog but also here on YT) 🪡😊 ~ Anja
I would love to see you picj out the pretty turquoise blue from floor rug and paint walls in that colour or a shade lighter. I Sorry but I think the red on chairs is very dated . A textured neutral would look great.
Your furniture/room/decor are so beautifully vintage….you may want a “real” vintage, heavy wool rug. I find all of mine on Facebook Marketplace. They lay down nice and flat….and I pay for somebody else to use them while they’re shedding! LOL
...With the Red Fabric on the chairs, the finish of the chairs.. it " blends in " with one another. ..so that is going to create " too much reddish tones " ,with the Rug.. Personally, I like the Rug, ..to me.., it's the red on the chairs that is throwing things " off ", but that my observation, just IMHO. Perhaps a Rug with a bit more Beige- y ,Golden tones would work better with the Chair Fabric , Complement the Reddish tones, and Complement the existing Library area chairs.
I was thinking that the rug does a nice job of tying in your curtains and paneled walls! lol But what matters is how YOU feel about it. Hope you find something that brings you joy when you see it :)
The chairs came out great and I completely agree with you on the rug color not working, your new choice with the warm red will be perfect! Thanks for sharing!
Yes! Thank you!

Great job and love your kitty help 😊thank you for sharing and showing the dirt under the rug😊and keeping it real!
Yes, we get a lot of feline supervision 🐈⬛. I don't have any problem showing the dirt under our rug 🤣 ~ Anja
I love that you used the word “grody”. Haven’t heard that in a long time. Thanks for the video.
The finished chairs turned out wonderful! I agree with you on the rug, and i think the one that flashed at the end of the video will be perfect!
I love love love your antique table and other pieces🥰🥰
Aww … thank you so much ☺️

Yes, I will try that, thank you!

Nice to see another Do it yourselfer get excited with having her own tool box. It’s right next to my large seeing box, painting brush box, etc…
I love your videos. You are so down to earth and so real to every day life. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Aww … thank you so much 💛

I love to have a dining room like yours one day , I love old furniture . ENJOY YOURS.
My best tool is a battery charged staple gun. It saved my hand! 😊
You did such a beautiful job on the chairs!
Thank you so much ☺ ~ Anja

Yes, already got a new rug! And I agree with saving things, you never know what you could do with it 😊 ~ Anja

Howard Feed and Wax is a miracle on surfaces. Your chairs look good.

You need to refinish that table too. ❤❤

This turned out beautiful!! Good luck on the rug!!
Thank you so much 😊 ~ Anja
The chairs look so nice!

Wow. Job well done!
It looks STUNNING!!!
Love from South Africa 🇿🇦❤

Hello. We have a magnet on a pole or stick! We use it outside. Great job😊❤
Right? Best thing ever 😊 ~ Anja

Yes, that sounds about right. You can find a lot of sourdough videos in this playlist: th-cam.com/play/PL758nsvRyHuAmfEaUooKr7OTKm1f4VQ8Y.html
My first thought was also that you need red in the rug. Other than that everything looks great.
Yes, agreed and thank you so much 😊 ~ Anja
Buy beeswax for your table and chairs. It really helps older furniture look hydrated and beautiful again without refinishing.

I Sorry but I think the red on chairs is very dated . A textured neutral would look great.
I would call red classic. It’s a jewel tone. To me this is like saying black is dated
You should sand the chairs. It would look even better
Your furniture/room/decor are so beautifully vintage….you may want a “real” vintage, heavy wool rug. I find all of mine on Facebook Marketplace. They lay down nice and flat….and I pay for somebody else to use them while they’re shedding! LOL
Thank you! We used to have a nice antique rug but they‘re harder to clean and more prone to staining 😌
@@OurGabledHome yep….you like what you like! For sure!
Beautiful job. I live your furniture.
I have a replica bent-wood Singer like yours. Is yours an antique or a replica?
Where can I purchase a broom like yours?
This is the one I have (affiliate link): amzn.to/3Y6dXzo
@@OurGabledHome Thank you!
I would use restore cleaner on the chairs before i changed the seats .
An underpaid will make the carpet last longer and give a nicer feel when stepped on.

I think that rug is too small for the room, and Redditch tones would look better too. Otherwise, well done on the recovering.
Thank you so much 😊 ~ Anja
I was thinking that the rug does a nice job of tying in your curtains and paneled walls! lol But what matters is how YOU feel about it. Hope you find something that brings you joy when you see it :)
I love what you did, but I implore you to buy an electric staple gun. It makes a world of difference. I cannot go back to a regular staple gun.
I think your curtains are too pale. Somehow, something is missing there, maybe a color similar to the new chair cushions?
Maybe add a colored tie back ribbon?
Yes. The rug is wrong. You definitely want some red in it. It would have been ok w the old chair seats. Beautiful material choice on those seats.
I love the rug, but I see what you mean about it not being right with the red chair seats.
Thank you for your suggestions!
You are right/whole thing doesn’t work. And too much brown.
I don’t like the rug either. Get one in a dark red.
Yes, it’s coming 😊
